Have you ever been in one of these ‘clockwork’ situations (see the bold below)?

And if so, how did you escape it? This was always one of my fave old jams. Its basically where you know someone isn’t good for you but you end going back to each other over and over again.  And the song goes like this… “Might as well have my alarm set on my phone girl… It's like you got a camera… Don’t know how you know I’m home alone girl. Come around 10:47 every Friday night… Might as well leave the light on cause you're always right on time. You call. I say ”Hello” You knock. I'm lettin' you in. You say you've missed my lips. We kiss. Here we go again. Your dress, my shirt. We love. I LIVE AND NEVER LEARN! I crash. I burn. You leave. I hurt… like clockwork. It's like I'm walkin' down the street and fall in that same trap, girl. I see a freight train comin'… and I just stand there on the tracks, girl. Somebody'd be gettin' rich if they were placin' bets... On me… thinkin' no, no, no, but always sayin' yes.” I know it should be so easy to let go of your past and move forward but it’s hard. It becomes a bad habit of sticking to routine or the familiar rather than taking a chance into the unknown with someone new. My first relationship was the worst clockwork situation I had ever been in. Everytime we were together, it was like we had never broken up. 😂🤷‍♀️🙈 If it wasn’t for him getting sent to some sort of military school, it wouldn’t have stopped. But then when he graduated, it started back up again. It took him to get engaged for it to really stop. He’s no longer engaged now… Anyways, I think a lot of people have been in this situation but tend to call it “second chances” or “third times the charm”. #FeelFreeToList

No. And I probably never will. I hate this.

I have seen others, especially one of my closest friends back in college (although we're no longer friends 🤣). She used to keep going back to the guy and it irritated me. (I didn't know those two were dating. All I knew was that their "friendship" was toxic). Every other month they'd quarrel and stop talking. And then, maybe a week or two later, either he'd come back with some lame excuse asking her why she isn't talking to him or she'd feel sorry and start talking to him again. I was the one suffering for their quarrels. My relationship with her was affected because of their fights. They'd fight and it'd ruin her mood and she'd be cranky towards me. She never let me interfere either (the reason being I liked her as well... and the other guy was insecure of me).

I kept on tolerating this drama for about a year, until I got fed up. I remember, one day, it was the annual sports festival at our college, I was walking with two other buddies of mine when I saw her sitting with him. Something was off. We went near them and she asked for some water to one of the guys who was with me. None of them had any. I was carrying a bottle, so I offered mine. She took my bottle and threw it away and stormed off 🤷.

As patient as I am, I have my limits. There came a time when I confronted her. I told her to stop this nonsensical perpetual cycle of doom. Either go back to him and stay or end things and never go back. What she was doing, was hurting me without any reason. And if she didn't, then I'd end our friendship and stay away from her. It was only after this ultimatum that she finally agreed and accepted in front of me that she likes him too (didn't mention that they were dating). This was when I interfered, got them together and told her that this was the last time I wanted to hear about them. If they quarrel again, it's upto her, I want no part of it.

The funny part is that they got into a fight again 😂 and broke up, yet again. But she didn't tell me about it. And by that time I had distanced myself from her, because this was when I knew those two were together and I didn't want to be that "guy best friend" who's interested in the girl, always lurking for an opportunity to ruin the relationship to get with the girl 🤣. (She did date me though 😂. Nearly 3 years. No quarrels whatsoever 😂. I guess I'm a better partner in that regard 😆. But when things ended between us, it was permanent. No more repeat telecast of on-off-on-off. Maybe because she knows I hate this, or maybe I'm just not worth reconsidering 🤣. Who knows. At least I'm never going back into that dreadful cycle)

I have and I still might get back to them, but it has only happened with one girl and maybe it was because she was my first love and my best friend as well.
I always think that now we will be just friends but it never stays there.
Finally I shifted to some other place and then I was able to get some space from her.

No because I'm realistic and don't lie to myself about other people. Actions speak louder than words. People always will reveal who they are and if you stick around after knowing it's on yo ass. Don't put yourself into shit situations and certainly make your exit when you figure it out. If you keep going towards them and stay lingering it's on you for going along.

I've given second chances, but there's no third because then I'm the 🤡

I have never been in a situation like this and honestly I would hate to be in that situation. To me, that just sounds like you're being used and there's no love in that. If I was in that situation I think a girl would ruin me

Yeah I was it that kind of relationship where we was on and off every other week and then one of us call for a booty call and we have wild crazy sex and the sex was so good we start the relationship again but then in the middle of the week we starting hating each other and arguing. Mostly I feel that relationship only lasted long enough just the sex was that incredible.
