What is it about a person leading a relationship?

I hear that most relationships /marriages are "Lead" by men and I also hear "Female lead" relationships

Now I might be dumb , but I never understood it

Relationship is about partnership and why is it that one person should "Lead" and other should follow?

Why can't it be both of them equally communicating , arriving at a conclusion and moving together?

It's not about about gender, it's about personalities. In any relationship, romantic or otherwise, there is usually one person who is more dominant.

However, in male-female relationships, that person is more often the man. Most women (not all) tend to be most attracted to men who are confident, capable and charismatic, and those men tend to have dominant personalities. Relationships where there are two dominant personalities have problems and don't tend to last.

"Strong and independent" women often say men are threatened by them, and that it takes a confident and secure man to handle them. The opposite is actually true. Like anyone else, confident and secure men look for women who are compatible, and those women are naturally incompatible with them. Strong and independent women do better with men who are less confident and secure, and thus less dominant.

It's all just natural relationship dynamics.

However I do not understand the concept and need for someone to be "Dominant"?
It's not a competition or a workplace right?
I do agree that most women are attracted to confident and secure men, but why "Dominant".. because in my opinion, being "dominated" by someone is rarely a good thing right?

It's not about a need for someone to be "Dominant". About the fact that some people just are. It's their personality, whether they like it or not. It just is what it is. And natural relationship dynamics are best when both partners are not dominant.

It's natural. Men generally are natural leaders and women are generally submissive and caring. Partners is fine until you both really disagree on something. Then how do you make a decision? Compromises can often lead to a worse decision. Girls generally speaking have much worse common sense and decision making in a lot of practical situations.

In more unbalanced or toxic relationships you'll see which person calls the shots. They announce orders and schedule things without the other partner being told.

I guess this comes out more obviously when the two are parents. Some couples will then divulge into good cop / bad cop as it becomes clear which of them has final say. I see it aaall the time on TV but my parents were never like that. Maybe that's why they're still very happily married lol

I agree that relationships are partnerships and both parties have a say in every circumstance in the relationship. However, I prefer my Husband being the Man of the house and he's amazing at that role.

I think it’s because they’re still individuals and things aren’t always agreed upon in a relationship so one has to take initiative for the relationship to work. has to do with the whole submissive / dominant thing.

Nobody should be the leader. That is a recipe for disaster, and any man that thinks they should be the leader OR are natural leaders should be avoided at all costs. They will just end up being a total pain in the ass.
