Can you "get over" trauma?

Other than psychiatric or therapy that most people use to help them get through it, or do you think that it depends on what kind of trauma that they've experience?

I have recently got out of a toxic relationship that included harsh verbal and emotional abuse including gaslighting, manipulation, deceit, victim blaming and lack of accountability for one's Behavior (on his part) and also admitting to have never had feelings for me regardless of me falling in love with him which needless to say it's been a one-sided relationship all along with me being in love alone. I don't want to go into too many details about it so that's all I'll say about that. Also he was my VERY FIRST relationship.

So due to his harsh treatment of me, I have vowed to never trust another guy again not because I believe that all guys are bad which is obviously not true but I have turned down many guys who have tried to pursue a relationship with me due to the trauma that I have experienced because I am very scorned because the worst thing that I fear is falling in love with someone who will NEVER reciprocate the same feelings towards me and the possibility of there being Other Women of Interest.

So whenever I date a guy, I just only enjoy his company for dinner dates and sex which makes it much better for me to avoid catching feelings for him so just in case the relationship ends or he ends up seeing other women, I won't feel any type of way because there were no feelings involved so I do that to protect my feelings so now I only enjoy men for sex and nothing more.

Yes I am currently in therapy for it but I don't think even therapy will take away the pain that I have experienced but I have never heard of anyone getting over any hurt. It's just like a child who has been molested abused in any way by someone older than them or an adult and they end up having trust issues and not trusting a particular group of people or people in general due to the trauma that they have experienced.

Trauma is always in your brain, trauma is part of why you are the way you are now. Therapy helps us get to a place where it doesn’t affect us as much so that we can be accepted and happy to just go about our days like everyone else. It doesn’t leave your brain, but it does get easier to manage the reactions to it.

Some can. I didn't, I just had to move on and bury it deep ad I can for a long time. That warps and changes you, it did for me. I used to not be as hostile, cynical and misanthropic.
