I was totally fine with the dynamic of having someone older than me, but I think it’s absolutely weird being older than someone.

1 yYes but not too young. Ideally they’d be born between 1992-1996. Anytime I have dated someone who was born 1991 or before OR born 1997+, the way we went about things was just too different. The older ones were too controlling, traditional, and extremely conservative in their way of thinking. Almost no fun to be with. The younger ones were submissive in the beginning which I liked but then they tried to suddenly become extremely dominant at least 3 months in, and I really don’t like being blindsided. I like the person to stay consistent and be who they appeared to be when I first met and fell for them. Plus the 1997+ crew that i know are too influenced by social media, feminine looking fashion trends, and extremely liberal beliefs. I am slightly old school but also more moderate in my way of thinking and prefer someone 1992-1996 who appears to have a similar mindset. In my opinion, those are the years where I saw more leaders born rather than followers. Those years also appear to contain a good mix of part dominant, part submissive and less controlling. I don't know it could be because a lot born between 1992-1996 came from pretty abusive parents but tried to become better than their parents. Meanwhile from people i know who were born in the 70s, 80s, late 90s, and early 2000s had abusive parents and have now become just as narcissistic and abusive as their parents.

Some folks ARE more mature in terms of their sense of ethics and responsibility so they tend to look to older and more "settled" personalities for relationships, however I find more and more that some older folks are reliving some sort of juvenile state ("second childhood"/"midlife crisis") that makes THEM too immature to handle an age-gap relationship.

Age doesn’t really determine the chemistry and connection and attraction you have with someone , I have been in relationships with younger and older girls’ through the years , so I don’t really hold age as a deciding factor , as long as she is of legal age of consent of course. I have been with girls’ that had a big age gap with me because we both had great chemistry and connection together and we were both attracted to each other. Some of the younger girls’ I dated were more mature compared to some girls’ I dated that were my age or older. So it comes down to the chemistry and connection i share with her. In my opinion , people that hold age as a deciding factor are just limiting themselves for possibly meeting someone that is amazing to you. If I see a beautiful girl that catches my eye and I approach her and we seem to be hitting it off , and enjoying talking to each other that’s all that matters , if the topic of age comes up and I find out we have a gap in age , I am not automatically going to not like her all of a sudden , that to me is stupid to do because I wasn’t after her age to begin with , All I see is a beautiful girl that I am connecting well with , so my intentions is to continue doing that with her and hopefully see her more and more , which usually happens if her and I enjoy each others’ company.

1 yI have been both when I was a 23 no kids I dated a 31 year old with two school aged children. It was weird how people felt it necessary to steer me away from her because of age. We didn't work out but age wasn't the problem. I just wasn't ready for instant family. Now 8 years divorced, 50 something old man with adult kids and I've been with my 20year younger GG for 4 years. We are perfectly happy and I look young for my age so no one thinks I'm her father. Still I worry that later in life I will be gone and she will be alone. But you never know what life is going to deal you. I never expected to be divorced. People sometimes die young. As long as both people are over 25 at least. (At that age I think we are fullymature mentally). Then the age really only matters if you make it matter. So maybe you should give a younger partner a go you might like it.

Hey, relationship coach here! 😉 Age is just a number when it comes to love, as long as you're both on the same wavelength emotionally and mentally. Being older can bring wisdom and maturity into the mix, adding depth to the relationship. Just watch out for any red flags and focus on how well you connect with each other. 💑 If the chemistry is there, age gaps can lead to great stories! 🔥✨

11 Reply 1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It certainly is if you are female , and it will never ever work , you end up with some boy who wants zero responsibly , a mother figure , if time does go on , things get worse , he wants to feel " looked after " because he can't do it himself.
I had one of these relationships when I was 18 , it was great for me , she was hot , and obviously had a young boy , cougar style outlook , she cooked for me , did all my washing , cooked , and all I had to do was fck her everyday ( that was easy..18 yo have a permanent hard on ) , I saw her years and years later , and she looked so old , women have two major facet's in their life ( well more than two , but two that are really tough ) child birth and menopause ( sometimes early menopause ) , this is why the male must always be older , and give guidance and leadership , advice to her.
Thats as it should be , then respect and love can build.

1 yYes. It really depends on the person and their mindset. I've met women who are my own age... no... wait a better example is my Mom. My Mom is obviously even older than something I'd fuck and she's basically, still just an angry 14-year-old girl inside her head.
But I've also met 20-year-olds who are mentally on my level. I don't judge the age, I judge their minds.
If you're talking about fuck material, I can't take women much older than me seriously unless they're a fucking smoke show. I mean I'm 40, women hit the wall around this age while I age like fine wine, and they age like milk.

Correction: I think I'm 41 now, don't remember nor care. As long as I'm lifting weights you know I be crashing down the pussy gates.
1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. From my perspective it would be fine to take a younger woman as a partner. Generally both men and women like the man to be older and the woman younger. In much the same way that both men and women like the man to be taller and the woman shorter.
That is the norm. Should I be weirded out by a woman older than me if everything else was perfect? Logically no.
However, I think it is sufficiently hard to overcome what I think are innate prejudices that we are better off not to try. I think they are innate if it is found almost universally across all cultures.

1 y@Justneedtokno I'm 30 soon 31.
So I could take any woman who's 18 plus as a legal adult (18 is the legal age here for what an adult is in my country) and so however realistically I think at 30/31 that I'm, I could only realistically probably have a serious partner woman who's at least say, aged 24. Aged 20 and that's a big gap, while not impossible for maturity, she may think I'm too old at 30 if she's 20 lol.
After all, aging causes joint paint, energy differences, regardless of one's fitness routine to my brain 🧠 after all. I feel like I creek and have joint flare ups sometimes and I'm supposed to still be in my "prime" ( though at mid 30s surely that's a different story especially come 40-45) lol 😆
04 Reply- 1 y
@Justneedtokno like surely a person is no longer a "fit man" at say anything over 30 and a man who's at least 36/37 is the last of their "energetic years" and come anything after, even 38, even 40, it's like - past it lol 😆😂 I'd say to my brain

1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Not only can I, this is by far the most common arrangement between men and women throughout all of history. Women are a few years younger and are attracted to men a few years older. Men are attracted to women younger as well. It is the most classic and normal. So I don't think you need to be worried enough to question it

1 yDepends. Is the younger person a mature personality who makes rational decisions and follows through on commitments? Can I depend on her? Is she intellectually compatible? Then I absolutely take her seriously. The age gap doesn't matter at that point.

1 yIt's natural for men to prefer younger women and women to prefer older men. That's why it's been the traditional male female age relationship for millions of years.
There are biological and evolutionary reasons why that relationship is natural.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yHonestly, been there done that. From my personal experience of trying with someone younger. Know exactly what you want. What your values are and make sure you are self confident, and you better have hobbies and just know yourself. To sum it up. Your own glass better be full. And theirs too.
Test the waters out and trust your instincts but please NEVER lower your standards for anyone. EVER. So if he is not meeting them, PLEASE girl just walk away ( it’s not easy especially if you caught feelings) but do it for yourself.
(Ahah went on a tangent, but some can be taken serious, just make sure he loves you more than you do him, not to be mean or whatever, but if a female loves a man more than herself they definitely will know and it will not end well)

1 yIt’s not weird at all. As a guy, younger girls are prettier, sexier, and more fun to be with than an older girl.
As a younger girl, an older man is more financially stable, able to travel more, and more willing to spoil the younger girl.00 Reply It depends on the level of maturity. Some young people are mature for their age.

@hungtexan and as long as folks are two legal adults - I for one find it bizarre though if people who carried themselves stuck-up at age 22 will regret their "lack of enjoying their 20s in a more carefree or fun loving way" when they regret it at 29 or 35 as "why didn't j party more instead of act like I was 45 when I was 20 lol" goes for women and men - some want to become too mature too fast, I mean take a 21 year old already carrying a briefcase versus a 21 year old taking a 1 year gap year travel or six months off work with savings to at least live a little - figures? 👀😄👀🐰

1 yAs a man, I don't find it ''weird'' to be older than my partner :)
It's not the 'age in numbers' in my eyes, but the stage of mental evolution (so-to-say) that makes makes me ignore an age-gap.

00 Replyme personally no. I rather have a man that is older then me and respectful and not something horny after other girls but someone that wants to take time with me and do a relationship correctly with me.
01 ReplyI know you can I've seen it, it's just the older person has to move that "i know more bull crap" aside and younger person has to be truly mature and be lead by love, then and only then can they truly last, not just coexist.
