Why are couples accepted in singles spaces but singles aren't in couples spaces?

Even at clubs, singles are charged more, but within friend groups, couples are always accepted but singles are excluded from couples trips.

I have no idea about clubs, bars or others places where people gather since I don't go to those places.

However, on cruise ships for example or anywhere where space is at a premium and rather costly, the cabins or rooms are designed to accommodate 2 people to maximize occupancy. Single people do only occupy half of that space, thus they are charged a premium to be able to use that space.

However, more and more companies have realized that a lot of people (like me) travel as singles and are making cabins available at no additional cost because singles tend to become a much larger part of the travel segment.

That's pretty messed up though isn't it? In terms of charging single people more for the same service because they didn't have the foresight to consider that single people like to travel as well. I don't think it really took until 2025 for them to figure that out.

My issue is with how normalized and intentional our society was built to cater to couples.

I'm sure we would agree that skinny or short people shouldn't be charged more since they occupy less space than what's allowed to them.
