Essentially love is what stimulates our mind and desires, while sex stimulates our sexual organs.

Agree or disagree?

Many people try to figure out what love is and all about but technically it’s going to be someone we find attractive and stimulates our minds whenever we talk to them and/or do things with them. They stimulate* us- more so than anyone else would. If we do a hobby with them or take a trip with them, we may find it more rewarding and engaging* when we experience it with them. They enhance the overall experience. Then the plus is that they’re attractive and the sex is fun and engaging with them as well. Liking them is what makes the sex better.

So love is somewhat and nothing short of: shared experiences with the person who stimulates us mentally more than any other person, and arouses us simultaneously.

To clarify the sex is only with sexual companions lol not with family and I don’t endorse that. Just as we have the levels of relationships in regular moral and legal life and the same boundaries. I got to fully disagree with this statement.

Love does not have to be related to physical pleasure.

I do love my parents, I do love my siblings, yet I would not want to have any physical contact with them beyond a casual peck on the cheek whenever I see them.

I may be a little old fashioned but incest is not what drives or motivates me when I love my parents. Far from me the idea to have intercourse with any of them. This is just something so totally disgusting and that I could never lower myself to do, even if forced.

I meant on a relationship level not at all with family. Within the boundaries of a relationship between a man and a woman the option of sexual organ connection and intimacy is then added to the table. I just didn’t think I had to explain that. But there may be others who will miss this so in this sense I meant only within couples and that level of love. Because if you never had sex with a significant other then loving them would be similar to a friend or family member. And even if it is not about choice there are people who experience physical attraction alongside of getting along with them and enjoying their presence.

I think love is a stimulant. For people. So in the context of family and friends they stimulate us mentally. We laugh… we discuss things sympathize all of that is stimulating our minds. When they even share their problems with us we feel the need to bring about a solution and help them come to that kind of resolution. So that requires us to think and process. It’s mentally stimulating. The same way a video gamer or chess player enjoys a game and a person loves their work. It’s engaging and captivates their attention. It’s stimulating.

So finally in the context of the reserved intimate love between two companions who are like boyfriend girlfriend or husband and wife- they have that mental stimulation but then the added physical stimulation. And even so it’s not 100% physical. Like physical friction or sensory limited. It’s even still mentally stimulating because of how well they know each other and love each other and then any added flirtation (regardless of the level- basic or intelligent banter), or some kind of role play. All it is as long as we are alive is stimulation. But no obviously there is a boundary on the physical and it’s just not even a real thing when family is involved. Even with family there can be physical but it’s not SEXUAL. Like hugging family. Or holding their hand before they pass on. Tickling as kids possibly. Or a toddler. Etc. but it stops there.

Love is survival mechanic that binds humans to each other for the sake of best survival possibility of their progeny. Pleasure is just a neuro-chemical imbalance in terms of nature, it's a tool for higher developed organisms, it isn't a goal. Real goal of life isn't different than among single cell organisms 4 billions years ago. It's to exist as long as possible and to reproduce.

Agree! And thankfully we have also evolved to explain and give voice to such feelings and motives. In a more humane sense. Starting/ building families/ leaving legacy. Being a caretaker, and living as long as possible. A healthy and fruitful life. When we look at the cells they just go about with their instinct and reach for longevity. Survival. We do this on a higher level and it can be made to be a lot more meaningful, pleasurable, and worthwhile. I like how you simplified and broke it down into simpler and precise parts. I think love is deeper feelings can be self induced and not mutual as well as some people know how to manipulate emotions to make someone feel a certain way to get them hooked whether they have genuine feelings or not.

Some are very stupid but some can manipulate people one would never think can be manipulated. Because I think love and sexual desire can surpass common sense in people sometimes. Their brains drop out and turn plumb stupid. But real love is a bond and a deep friendship

I would argue that the greatest definition for love is that it is simply willing the good of the other. Everything you described really branches out from that

All things good yes! That seems like more of a heroic side to love. Reminds me of Jesus’ teaching on love about it being pure and none is greater than the kind where he lays down his life for his friends (sacrificial). But If we got technical we see before god and Jesus created all of creation they had the vision for it. Spoke it into existence and said/saw it was good. They had a joy and pleasure for what they had created. For me that’s pleasure and most pleasing things for us is very stimulating. Even the adorableness of helpless puppies, kittens, bunnies, and infants are pleasurable for their cuteness factor and as we perceive that is stimulating. The more stimulating the better. Because if anyone had a rock for a partner it would be difficult to love. It’s why people seek companionship. It’s why friendships are a term as well. But I won't disagree about wanting good for others is a foundational principle of love. I’m not sure it starts out that way though. We can disagree on this. But your share was very interesting to read nonetheless

Love is basically a bunch of hormones that your body releases when it senses someone compatible. Oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. Then there's physical and psychological attraction towards this person that also can play a role. If you find someone attractive and your body says they're compatible- BOOM - you're enarmoured of them. Later as your hormones take the better of you, you fall head over heels for them and start loving.
