Rules and policies keep us safe from harm... that would have avoided this situation. That leaves th woman lying or confessing...

An engaged guy messes with another woman, she gets pregnant... is in fear, shame, and kills the baby day is born. She hides that and goes on to have 2 kids... but is caught years later and sentenced to 25 years.

She should have gotten help and thought about this, but who knows what she was thinking or feeling. Womens hormones are all over, let along their emotions. A stable foundation is essential. The guy is equally at fault for creating the scenario.

"The wages of sin... is death". In this case, death of someone that be 28, maybe on this site or married, if they weren't murdered in their first moments. Life creation is a serious thing.

Too many people take "mating" not seriously. A small "choice" can lead to big consequences. Slow down and think, develop some policies that keep you safe.

But with bad mistakes... is it better to air them or keep them in?

Example policies...

I will only... mate with someone I'm serious about or married to.

I will never... if I drink, it's only with the person I'm married to

etc etc..

You create your own... so you don't end up with difficult choices to make.

Goes without saying there has to have been some serious mental illness that drove her action back then.

My partner has tried to cover up incidents that he feared could look bad and he feared loosing me over them, the more this is done, the longer, there's anxiety. Not anything on the scale of what the woman had done, of cource, but if that can give you anxiety I don't want to know what hers would be like.

It is better to take a chance and tell the truth than to keep it locked in, the truth will set you free but it is important if so to follow it through so it is not only some reckless truth to your surrounding.

With any mental illness I think we know we have gotten sick to an extent, but not fully, it's complex, there is a part we have little or no control over. No one would willingly chose this in their right minds Our brain can be our worst enemy and too out of our control, not to make an excuse for it, but knowing there are reasons for it, as scary, tragic, horrendous they are.

Confessing is harder, but it’s cleaner.

Guilt doesn’t disappear just because you bury it , it leaks into how you act, how you love, how you show up.

But confession only makes sense if it brings clarity, not chaos.

If telling the truth helps the other person make informed choices and helps you grow, then it’s worth it.

If it’s just to ease your own conscience while hurting them for no reason, that’s not honesty , that’s selfish.

So for me, the real answer is choose the path that leads to integrity, not just relief.
