Small gestures are not small at all. They are the meat and potatoes of love. They are living, day in, day out, with the wellbeing of another front of your mind in everything. They are love, the verb.

Big bunches of flowers are nice to elicit a smile. But either she knows that I love her and they don't matter, or she knows that I don't and they don't matter.

Doing something on holiday means someone had to slap you upside the head and humiliate you into doing it. A gesture on a random Tuesday means you came up with that yourself.
