He says he needs time to himself for a while. What does it mean?

Hi,

I just got in a relationship with my boyfriend. We've been dating for about a month, and we have been official for about 3 weeks. He's the one who asked me to be his girlfriend and even told all of our mutual friends about the relationship. He gave me the key to his apartment, and even said he wants to introduce me to his parents when they come to visit next month. I admit we have been moving rather fast. We've also spent almost every day together since we became official. Then all of the sudden yesterday, when I texted him he said that he needs some time to himself for a little bit. I'm just confused because he is the one who has been insisting that we spend time together, and then all of the sudden its something different. So, does he really just want some time apart for a bit, or is he breaking up with me?

I finally figured out what happened. His ex wife had his cell phone turned off, she also called me ( long story / drama) So, he didn't get my texts/calls...I just ended up going over his place and he explained everything. Thanks for the advice everyone.

many maybes...

1.Maybe "i want some time" = "it's time to go" but I don't think after all this things he did for you he wants that.

2.Maybe... (Random maybe lol) Sometimes people are stupid. Sometimes they have hard times and all they do is to blame people they love for their problems. I think that's what is happening to him (no he is not stupid he might have a few problems) and I'm sure that in a week maybe 2 he will be himself again :D

3.Maybe he believes that if you are together all the time you will get bored and you won't like him any more so he wants to make sure that won't happen.

Thanks, I think I'm just gonna wait and see what happens. In the mean time I'm gonna give him all the space he wants, and work on doing things for myself

It's very common to want to spend every minute with your BF/GF, especially when you're young and you haven't had very many. But what often happens is that you wake up one day and realize that you've abandoned your other friends and your other obligations and activities, and have had no time for yourself. Everyone needs time alone on a regular basis, to just relax and let their mind wander.

What he needs to do is find some balance. Yes, that will mean he will spend a bit less time with you, but you'll still probably be the person he spends the most time with.

Yeah, maybe he just feels like we have been spending too much time together. Honestly, when he kept asking me to come over, I was thinking in my head that I'm really busy and should be focusing on my own obligations. But instead, I kept coming over...So, maybe when he does finally come around, ill talk to him about only spending time on the weekends
