Why you should do your good deeds in private

I know two people who bragged about their charitable acts and they both died before there 32nd Birthday, I see on the news all the time about people who brag about their good deeds and die before they are 35 years old, not only do you lose your reward when you brag about the good things you do, sometimes you could be punished for your good deed as well, that is if you use it as a license to boost your social status, I know at least 3 people who fall into this category, sometimes doing a good deed and bragging about it is worse than not doing a good deed at all, do you want to fall into the category of people who died before their 40th birthdays because they were constantly bragging about how much they volunteered or how much money they gave to charity? Be careful and keep your mouth shut.

Correct! I mean what's the whole point of good deeds is that the purpose itself.
like giving a poor man help. why? so that he is helped. the moment I go brag about it I shift the purpose.

The good that people do should always be celebrated as it lends itself to more good deeds being done by others. Some mistake good deeds for those that are just common decency or being a good human though. After all , at the end of our short time on earth what are we but a sum of all our deeds ?

(Jesus had just been giving a scolding to those who gave openly/boastfully just to boost their status, notoriety, etc. )

I completely agree, if you won't do something just out of principle or your own personal morals without a significant reward in reputation it's not genuine.

On the other hand it could still improve someone elses quality of life so it's not entirely bad.

Yelling that what good things I do , that destroye all that good things we did , personally I hates yelling about my good deeds and that good deeds show them selves on my life and I'm happy

Not sure bragging is the right word to use when it's charity, the person is spreading awareness and positivity of a charity cause by telling people around what it's all about and why they decided to donate. It's a shame they died, has nothing to do with their character.

Then how are many celebs still alive even after their 40's. Actors like Salman Khan even EXAGGERATE their good deeds, but behind the scenes he is aggressive, ruin careers of newcomers if they piss him off.
He runs a company called "being human". He will make editors publish that he donated 5000 bicycles but in reality he only donated 5.

It's crazy huh! But that's a good example of how acquiring power requires different actions than being humble and morally just does. I think to fully utilize the power, I think people need to be strategic with how they say their good deeds. There need to be some good guidelines to follow. Like not saying all of them & leaving some to be discovered, speaking of the ones you do tell in a casual manner with the sole focus not being the good deed, don't lie about deeds, etc. That will give a person power they'll be able to maintain. I think so long as the person avoids putting themself on the pedestal then the masses will eat it up!

Crazy, makes sense but never thought about it
