What Manti Te’o teaches us about Christianity

This heroic football figure spent 3 years dating a catfish and was so humiliated when he discovered his catfish girlfriend was a fat man pretending to be a woman, that he developed personality disorders from all the people mocking him and questioning his gender identity, he was a very selfless man all his life, deeply religious, got top grades, spent crazy long hours volunteering to help the needy and was not focused only on earning money but also on helping people, but he was victimized by a humiliating scandal that crippled him for over 3 years mentally and emotionally.

The bible says everyone who genuinely loves and serves God will be victimized by scandal or social humiliation, and many would also suffer social isolation, I had people say I slept with 200 guys and owned 2 $10,000 Chanel bags, and starved my kids who they say I had with 2 strangers I met at bars. I had people say I was raped by my dad, I had people say I tried to murder them for rejecting me, when I just wanted God to tell me he loved me and would protect me from the pains of life.

The scandal refines you and teaches you to trust in God and frees you from the chains of emotional social dependency, it makes you modest and honest and genuine and builds your courage and wisdom and blessing in God’s service. If Jesus faced scandal, you will face scandal if you follow Him and do His will and obey His teachings because those who hate Jesus will also hate those who act like him and serve Him and believe in Him.
