African slaves didn't know of jesus nor were happy with the Christians that slaved them, nor saw there slaver owners as good including their belief's.
So highly doubt they would go to heaven if the set rule if they need to know the Christian god and know Jesus. If the set rule is they just go to heaven for been good people (Also ehh very subjective since I would imagine them been tribal would of lead to a lot of tribes in Africa fighting and killing each other and living less civilised which would be breaking the commandment of killing people.)
According to The Bible, how rough your life is has nothing to do with it. We are saved by knowing and trusting in Jesus for the FULL forgiveness of our sins. Not good works, donating money, making pilgrimages, saying repetitive prayers, or anything else. Jesus' work on the cross is the only work that pays for our sins. It's a free gift yet billions of people reject this free pardon.
There were a lot of slaves mentioned in the bible. The Israelites were slaves in Egypt. Does it say somewhere that they no longer had to live godly lives to still get in to heaven?
The kingdom of heaven is within. Death is just return to unity with God for you are God but limited in this form. Nothing is ever created nor destroyed

sheesh. reading the comments on here. But yeah I do. My religion teaches that everyone will have a chance to hear and learn about Christ, and everything either in this life or in the "afterlife" at some point, and will make their own decision to accept or reject him. So, our place in heaven isn't totally set based on what happens here on earth. We still have a chance to learn and progress after we die, so I'm sure a lot of them have found peace there.

I think there was only a handful of them who truly believed. The rest still practiced their traditional African religion, so I'm gonna say NO.
This is my issue with religion. Everyone thinks THEIR religion is the right religion. What? These people who have their own faith and have no concept of God, they will go to Hell? NO.
The slaves became very heavily christian but sure, I guess their black skin meant they weren't truly christian or something. This culminated in the African Americans using the bible as their argument for why slavery should be ended.

Clearly a majority of the African slaves adopted Christianity, as it labels their worship "new African American forms of worship and expression"
Then this goes both ways I guess? If them being Christian without wanting it is a sin and therefore not coming in heaven then the slaveowners will too not go to heaven since they forced the religion on them.

@Honesttguy that is a question for the believers, not the non-believers, it's innocent until proven guilty, and God hasn't been proven guilty of existing yet. Somehow we proved that black holes exist without being able to directly observe them, we've also shown beyond a reasonable doubt that the big bang happened. It's called evidence and it doesn't have to be visual, why don't you find an angel feather and run a dna test on it? Or find Noah's arc which is proven to be too large to float (because wooden boats have a maximum size they can reach before the wood will start to bend under the weight of the boat itself, this bending will sink the ship, just look up info about the Wyoming (largest wooden ship we have proof of) if you're interested in this phenomena (it's known as "hogging and sagging").

@devilman666 but believing happens on non-physical, we can prove things that we can perceive in some way. So what if there are things that exist beyond our perception? Not sure how to prove that and what would count as proof, cus we do have few cases of near death experience where people describe what they remember or few reincarnations and just bunch of weird unexplained stuff happening quite a lot all over the place. I personally have expierenced near death experience and few other weird stuff to me, but how to prove it? I can't tell even tho I expierenced it.
I've done my history, however you did not adequately describe what you were talking about. There have been dozens of different slave trades/slave markets/whatever you want to call it. In this case you are refering to the Barbary slave trade, and maybe Yemen slave trade? Many arab slave trades existed but mostly they were in north Africa.
If you have no point then I guess that's some neat trivia that it was 1.3 million, almost double the US black slaves, and just barely over 1/4th of the Carribbean slave trade.
Remember, the trans-atlantic slave trade led to 12.2 million Africans being taken, 10.5 million (about 1.5 million died on the ships, whoch for recerence is more than all the white slaves taken in the Barbary slave trade, if we are comparing the two to decide which is worse than it should already be clear) survived the journey, and only 600,000 went to North America, the rest were between South America and the Caribbean.
12 million taken, 1.5 million died on the ships that took them across the ocean, and 10.5 million ended up in slavery in the Americas. Just incase I made that part confusing in my other reply.

Value of slaves? No, number of slaves taken is what we're arguing about. He felt the need to point out that a million white men were enslaved between 1500 CE and 1700 CE, as if that means that nobody should be able to complain about slavery ever again. There are people still alive today who heard stories from their Grandparents about slavery, and stories from their parents about Jim Crow era racism. That pain is still fresh.

So if my grandfather murdered your grandfather 80 years ago, stole his most valuable possession, and was never punished, would you be hurt towards me? What if I refused to reconcile or even give you back your grandfathers heirloom? They are hurt because their direct family members, who they loved, were hurt by this. Im sorry but pain by proxy isn't easy to ignore, when you truly love someone you share their pain as well as their happiness.
As for the freedom they have now, it could still be better in my opinion, we like to think it's fully equal now and that bigotry doesn't exist anymore, but just remember that Joe Biden argued and voted for segregated bussing in the 1970s and 80s, just 50 years ago. There are still people who were just recently hurt by this kind of racist shit and that's just 50 years ago, not 150 years ago. There is a lot of fresh pain still there, to ignore that and tell them to get over their own feelings is simply inhumane.
I'll give one more example to show the inhumanity. Lets say I rape and kill your only daughter, but I get away with it for 50 years and then police find evidence proving I did it, but it's too late to convict. Would you be mad? Or would you focus on the opportunities and freedom you have instead? (That's a rhetorical question, dont bother answering it, of course you'd be hurt. You'd have to be a sociopath or a psychopath to not feel empathy towards your own family).
Emmett Till was murdered in 1955, just 66 years ago. A year later one of his murderers would right this in a local magazine: Well, what else could we do? He was hopeless. That was John William Milam who wrote that, his wife died in 2014, just 7 years ago, his kids are likely still alive. The woman who made the accusation that led to Emmett's death is still alive, Carolyn Bryant accused a 14 year old Emmett Till of sexually accosting a white woman, leading to her husband and his brother killing the boy. They ended up admitting to it after the trial had concluded and to this day, nobody has ever been punished or held accountable, in 66 years there hasn't been a cent of compensation for that young life that was tragically taken.
This is just one example of many examples of the racism and crime that led to the pain that we see today in the black community. Charles Manson is another easy example.
@devilman666 well makes sense people are still racist. I guess pain is more fresh than i thought. It's bit harder for me to understand and resonate with whats going on there in us, coming from european country with almost 100% white people. Im not sure if we had much to do with black slavery in history but i can be wrong.
Depends on which European country, France and Britain had a larger part to play in the transatlantic slave trade than USA did, because British Jamaica and French Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) imported more slaves than the USA did.
Imagine if you Grandfather had been enslaved by the Morrocco for the first 30 years of his life, was released with no compensation, got married, had a family, moved to wherever you live now, and had to fight to improve his life for his family, would you feel upset at the Moroccans for what they did to him? What if everytime you mentioned him people told you to shut up and get over it because it was so long ago? Would you just forget about your grandfathers pain and the stories he told you?
I learned from life that just because someone is victim doesn't mean they are good person. Often when they get in power they do exactly same bad things.
