If God hides His will from you, what could that mean?

Like this year, I kept getting unexpected events and unexpected reactions and the only thing that has changed is I feel closer to Jesus but all the other things have been unstable.

Religion and spirituality can be tricky to talk about but I’ll do my best to communicate clearly.
(I have made the assumption this is a Christian based question)


When it comes to God’s will, I think the key things to follow are laid out in the bible, especially modelling off Jesus’ ways and actions. There are also lots of examples of people not knowing the future, and it can be very intense not knowing why things are happening or what will happen next.


Some people talk about God’s will as though it is simply knowledge, information, something to know or to remain unknown. If that is the case, what makes it different to other sources of information in this world? Well it is not held by any mind, book or server, it is physically unattainable (at least by our own actions).


I would challenge that notion though, as knowledge, information, ideas, these are all parts of the human experience, and therefore painting God as a gatekeeper of knowledge limits him to our ways of thinking and existing.


Another consideration is memory, if a person learned God’s will, got amnesia and forgot it, did God unshare his will or is this person just unfortunate?


These questions aren’t here to prove anything, rather just to engage in the mystery of God. However if there’s one thing I tire of quickly in God conversations, it’s hypotheticals, so let’s move on.


I think in Life we rest between states of knowing and unknowing. If we fear either state too much we can become stubbornly and blindly confident (thinking we know all we need to), or heavily affected and impaired by fear of what could happen, or why something has happened. I believe in life we err on either side of those states, but as we get older it helps to pursue balancing between the two, and knowing which one to align with in any situation.


In the world today, and also in my own experience in the past few years, it appears to me as though some churches are scared of not knowing, and have withdrawn into a delusional state of having the answer to everything (especially God’s will and ways). This puts them in a position of power that is fuelled by fear, justified by knowledge and certainty, a very dangerous thing indeed.


To bring this back to your question, let’s go back to the bible. Many figures in the bible pursued God’s ways, God’s will, but they rarely achieved a state of knowing. People received visions, heck God straight up talks to some people, but there’s an assumption that a mysterious encounter with a spiritual being lead to some intellectual knowing, a mental certainty. The world, the time in and around the bible were immensely different, the ‘world’ spoken of isn’t the whole earth, scientific thought is relatively recent, and in an age of information, we forget this was a time before globalisation, where truth was primarily defined by the powerful. The figures we look to, to learn from their stories, they often acted with or without awareness of God’s will, they grieved what they didn’t know, they walked in their unknowing, and they did what they thought to be right. Things go awry when they believe they know everything, and when they cannot accept unknowing.


So I don’t believe God is hiding his will from you, I believe that this life is filled with mystery and unknowns, and we must come to peace with that. I believe we must use our understanding and knowledge of the material world to do what we can here, whilst walking forward humbly into the unknown, learning from what those before us have done (good and bad, constructive and destructive, loving and hateful). Be a student to God and Life, know what you know as well as you can, but never so well that you lose the very thing that started it all, not knowing.

This is not a hide-and-seek game. If the one who is a believer from the middle of his/her heart everything is okay. Remember , the more we r close to God in every way the more we feel that we are beloved by him. Sometimes God tests us if we believe or not by the events that we experience in our life. If we give up then we are going away from him , if we are trustful , mighty , patient etc. we are going closer to him. Therefore , the true believer can be distinguished by him. Cuz we know that the life in the world is like an exam to be taken , so we have to try and work hard for it to pass it succesfully for the other life. So it could be thought as our educational system , in short.

God does not hid his will from you. You might wonder from day to day what to do. But his principles and will for us is clearly outlined in the bible. Applying them in every situation to our best is his will.
Remember who it was that said "Is it really so?" And you will see who is causing the doubt.

Since it is drawing you closer to Jesus, perhaps that's God will in what has happened?

Keep in mind Job - God allowed Satan to work horrible things, and Job never knew why even though he demanded that God tell him. But through it all he refused to reject God, as God told Satan would happen. Perhaps some of the instability you've had is from spiritual enemies, yet God is preserving you through it.

I believe God puts us on this earth to learn and develop, telling us what is going to happen in any significant detail would largely get in the way of that.

It might mean you to be steadfast in prayers, trust Him to reveal with time, and grow spiritually.

Most importantly, understand that His will for you is always good and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and hope. Also, He might reveal His will in ways you least expect.

Pray and read the Bible. That should help you with your problems. It's not that God hides His will, but that people forget to read the book which describes His will.
