It's just human nature to sin. I can't see myself being religious & corrupt at the same time , claiming I'm religious but yet sin often ( not talking about very bad ones)
We're not perfect, we're going to sin no matter what.
The intent of Christianity is not so a person can willfully continue to sin as if all of their sins will be forgiven just because they attend religious services, or by doing whatever one tells themselves will do the trick for them.
It doesn't mean that religious people are necessarily hypocrites just by virtue of their stating their beliefs yet continuing to sin. They know they're sinners and gather with other like-minded people to belong to a religious community which regularly serves as a reminder to strive for the elimination of sin in their lives.
But it is impossible for people to not sin. That is why people attend church, to seek forgiveness, to learn how to strive to do better, and to enhance their spiritual lives by joining in church related social activities.
Jesus said this about intentional sin, taken from neverthirsty. org:
Intentional Sin
Jesus makes only one significant comment about intentional sins. It is found in Matthew 12:31-32.Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matt. 12:31-32 (NASB)
In this passage Jesus states that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. This is called the unpardonable sin. It is an intentional sin – the intentional rejection of Jesus Christ as God, Savior, and Lord. This sin can be committed today by anyone who studies the life of Jesus Christ and finally and ultimately rejects Him. All other sins can be forgiven. The writer of Hebrews also speaks about this unpardonable sin as a willful sin.For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Heb 10:26–27 (NASB)
When we are told that there is no longer a sacrifice for sins if we go on willfully sinning, the author is telling us that if we continue to reject Jesus Christ’ sacrificial death on the cross, then we cannot be forgiven. There is no other sacrifice for sins that can rescue you or anyone else from eternal, spiritual death. It is the same message that Jesus gave us.Conclusion:
Acts 4:12 says that there is salvation in only one individual. Jesus Christ is our God, our Savior and Lord. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.End quote.
I've spent most of my life having a very difficult time trying to understand religion. You're not alone in that regard by any means.
I wish you the best.

Belief in eternal life and a higher power to give meaning and order to this life is how a lot of people stave off the existential despair of living in a random and indeterminate universe in which the only certianty is death - the awareness is the only thing that makes it scary. But awareness is a function of the mind, so that same mind could simply choose to believe things are not random or indeterminate and that death is not certian, or at least not the end. Because why not? What does it cost?
The only real problem is that everyone is a narcissist, trying to gestate their own relevance. This makes everyone born self centered with no natural instinct to view themselves as worthless or pointless by default, even though we all are. So lots of people want to already have worth instead of doing anything to earn it - especially if they are born into wealth and are given some form of worth therefore. It makes it very hard for them to realize they are pointless. But wealthy or not, such people tend to extrapolate their self worth from the approval of others (which is kind of how it's supposed to work). But they still don't want to do the work of earning it, as that would necissarily include admitting to themselves that they don't already have it. So they dedicate their time and energy to convincing people to value them for what they already are instead of becoming better and they can get extremely hostile when someone isn't convinced. Most of "sin" is ultimately just a form of either trying to convince people of worth or anger that the convincing didn't work. If people genuinely had faith in their religion I think they would have no need for sin. In my opinion, whoever came up with the idea that pursuing personal pleasures is sin was the actual sinner - trying to be meaningful by making other people feel bad. Splitting the pursuit of pleasure from the disregard for causing others pain, and calling only the latter sin, would have done enormous favors for religion in the modern era.00 Reply

All humans are bound to sin yes, but religion is what helps guide us morally in order to not sin.

+1 yAll religions are garbage and useless except the glorious gospel of the lord Jesus Christ.
When one is born again by the Holy Spirit of God, you become dead to sin, rather quit living in sin because the grace of God and with the help of the Holy Spirit will greatly influence you and give you power to overcome.
Once a person matures in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ sin totally loses its people over the person and they begin to live a lifestyle of righteousness and obedience towards God.
2 Corinthians 5:18:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Ephesians: 4-17-32:
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.
Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
John 8:31-36
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone.
How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Hebrews 12:28-29:
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

Romans 6:1-14:
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. - +1 y
You would call Buddhism "garbage?" If you understood anything about what Jesus was preaching, you would understand that Jesus himself would have 100% endorsed everything that the Buddha preaching. It's a different culture, that all. They don't throw the word "God" around because to do so would be to state the obvious. And are you dismissive of Hinduism simply because they use different words to describe the creator of the Universe? You clearly have obtained no real wisdom from your religious studies.

+1 yThat's like giving up, perfectionism. you are expecting if you are "saved", then you are flawless and perfect. That's not reality in this world because we have absorved a world based upon selfishness. It isn't fair to oneself to expect that perfect. What is fair is to recognize and admit to your flaws and let go.
This has to do with how you think, your personality, and what your personal challenges you have with the world view. There are "stumbling" blocks that prevent people from growing spiritually and in Christ, Christ listed a bunch in the Bible in parables (seed on the stone), etc.. These are emotional blockages that cause people to go away from "God"... which is love. It is very easy to go back to the world, which is selfishness. The problem wtih it is... this life and world are temporary, God/love is eternal and connection, which is what we really desire. Sin is the separation, the lie... that we are not connected to God/love.
hope that makes sense.
00 Reply If people are bound to sin the guidelines in the religion might be too strict or it could highlight flaws in society.
But we as people also cherrypick what parts we care about. For example Jesus said that a landlord or someone profiting from interest is less likely to get into heaven than a prostitue. So if you own stocks you are, in christianity, worse than someone selling their body or having wild immoral orgies.
We just sort of, tend to ignore that because it doesn't work so well with our society.
Whole point really is just to guide a society towards a hopefully functioning and better future.10 Reply- 2.1K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic.
u +1 yBecause we still have free will. In a sense, we are "bound" in that we will continue to sin due the weaknesses of human nature. On the other hand, we are still free to govern our own thoughts, words, and actions in accordance with God's grace.
Regarding your update to the question now, virtue takes time and practice. Some need it more than others. Some people can have very radical conversions and perfectly avoid certain sins again while others might take months or even years to break a sinful habit. It depends on one's prayer life, their personal dispositions, and what help they have available.
I'll recommend reading about two saints in particular. The first is Augustine of Hippo and the other is Ignatius of Loyola. They both lived very sinful lives for quite extended periods, but experienced sincere conversions and changed their lives completely. They might be worth your looking into.
00 Reply 861 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. I think what you may be struggling with is the individual religious person and possible denomination view of Grace, Obedience, and Salvation. The short version is that if one is In Christ Jesus then from their Faith Obedience abounds. In Galatians 5 there are evidences of a saved person who still Sins. Fruit of the Spirit, in some degree, will be evidenced. FOS are what you are looking for.
Hypergrace individuals snd denominations are often referred too as Carnal Christians. These are unsaved people as their heart and works have not changed. They have not repented from Sin.
Confession of Sin, Forgiveness request, Profession of Faith In and Through Christ Jesus, Saved, Repentance (turn away from) Sin. The repentance part is a sign of Obedience from a saved heart. It is motivated through Grace and justification (set apart, saved). It is NOT works based.
Hope that helps 🤷🏻♂️00 Reply- 3.4K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic.
+1 yi would take that question a bit further: why would a god that religion claims to be omnipotent and omniscient create humans which he knows 100% they're gonna sin? like it's not like he didn't know that when he made them, cause he's omniscient. so he must have madethem so they can sin. it must have been his intention. and a this point, a christian will say "well we will never understand god with our fallible human mind". i say fuck that. if god exists, he's an asshole. that's what it is. he's a mean fat little asshole kid with a magnifying glass on a sunny day and we're the ants.
03 Reply- +1 y
Well God made them didn't he? And since he's omniscient, he knew what's gonna happen all along. If god is omniscient, you can't imply he did that on accident it that he was surprised by the result. He got what he intended. humans aren't to blame for what god made.
The problem with many Christians, in my view, is that they compare themselves to Jesus and feel guilty that they are not perfect. First, get it through your head that you are not perfect. A spiritual life is very, very difficult and most people cannot do it. That's why people like Jesus and the Buddha are renowned figures -- because they were truly exceptional, spiritual masters. The rest of us have to live normal lives and commit sins and thus separate ourselves from God. Only through worship (etymology: to become equivialent in worth) can we reconnect ourselves to him, whereas spritual masters lived lives in 100% devotion.

+1 yReligion is a prototype for education and community involvement.
Before there were doctors and psychologists clergy filled that role.
They also often served as teachers and scientists, and aided the poor before social programs.
Their role is changing into more than of a cultural historian and general spiritual guide in this age.
As for religion on a personal level, without it the cosmic ultimate horror of death would make life bitter. It's a way to understand and embrace your own mortality without fear.
Of course these things don't always occur to some people.00 Reply
+1 yI don't know about other religions, but in Christianity there is a belief that even if you murder 20 people, you can still get into heaven if you repent. That's why Catholic countries have such high murder rates. These cartel members and gangsters genuinely believe God will forgive them and still take them to heaven. Which makes having Commandments pretty much pointless. I am not surprised so many young people are turning away from religion.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThe point is KNOW we're sinful by nature. Because we're not omnipotent like God. But when you give your life to Christ you're supposed to want to live for him. You're supposed to be changed. You're heart tells you when you're doing wrong if you listen. God wants you to be free of sin. Because he knows sin is bad. That's why he didn't want Adam and eve to eat of the tree of knowledge. He didn't want us to have the knowledge of sin. So after we did that's why he had to cast us out of Eden. It wasn't a punishment. Eden contained the tree of life. Had we stayed we would have eternal life with sin. It's important to understand GOD doesn't punish us! Everything he ALLOWS is for our benefit! In our puny human brains we just don't understand it all. God cast us out of Eden so we could have eternity without sin.
00 ReplyThe purpose of the practice of a religion is to achieve the salvation for oneself and others, and to overcome sin.
We are all vulnerable to be tempted. But God offers to help us overcome this.
Letter to Corintians says "If one remains in Christ, he becomes a new life. What once was - is gone now, and everything has become new"
God wants to get us from everything that is evil, that is sinful, that is destroying our lives.

Anyway, humans aren't inherently GOING to sin, we're just horribly prone to it- not least because so many sinful things don't seem that way from the outside. The whole POINT of religion is to guide people toward better paths, and to find absolution, that we might forgive ourselves and others. If we weren't prone to sin, there'd be no need for religion.

00 ReplyGood question. A couple of thoughts:
1. So that people will recognize their sin and need for redemption.
2. To help put a brake on sin, at least the more extreme "hurting other people" kind.
3. To help reinforce some sort of moral basis for society.00 Reply482 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. The point of religion is to provide answers for people who can't stand the words "I don't know". The point of religion is to provide comfort for people who are afraid of dying. The point of religion is to provide solace for people who have lost loved ones. Other than that, it's pretty useless.

He and his spirit can help you against sinning. But you have to give all bad things to him and don't want to sin again.
If you still WANT TO sin he won't help you.
He can change you and then you won't commit that sin anymore.00 Reply- 377 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic.
