Is it a sin to advertise Bible for sale on Craigslist?

Over a year ago I was thinking about selling my English standard verse Bible and I spoke with my mother about it, and she highly advised me not to because it will lead to condemnation to hell... her other reason included that Christians must get the Bible for free instead of paying for it. My families are a mix of Jordanian-Protestant, Armenian-Unorthodox, and to some extent Armenian-Catholic.

Now that this was back in my head, I want to sell my Bible so that I can run for political office (not for President, but on a local or state level). It costs about $1200 to run for office each election. I think that my Bible is worth $330.

Should I commit this so-called "sin" and allow God to forgive me afterwards? I can still read versus online.

To clarify it is a book that my stepfather gave me. The family is highly strict about lying and hiding things from each other. I am afraid that if I sell his book, I am selling his property without him knowing. I am afraid to piss my stepfather off.

I seriously doubt your copy of one of the most published books in history is worth $300.

The Catholics have a rule that you may not sell a holy item which has been blessed, so as long as the book hasn't been blessed, you may sell it without risking your soul being tormented in the infernal bowels of Hell for eternity. Don't forget, a print works prints these books and sells them on to churches and bookstores which either give them away or sell them on.

You can sell the Bible.

My personal opinion is there isn't even such a thing as sin and it is merely a concept the religious made up to mean something another made up thing, in this case a character has been made up to not like. But that's another issue.

It's not a sin. Nothing in the scriptures themselves, ironically, that makes selling a bible sinful.

I doubt your bible is worth that much. I have an 1863 bible that isn't worth that much.

Jesus never got involved in politics. He said that his kingdom was "no part of this world". When the Jews tried to make him king, he refused. True Christians imitate Christ.

That's not how it works. God does not forgive deliberate, willful sin. Did he forgive Adam and Eve when they did what they knew was wrong? Nope.

I don't think your Bible is worth $330. I can get a Bible cheaper than that. But if you stole it to sell it that's a sin and also illegal.
