Isn’t is scarier not believing in an afterlife? Or do you disagree?
well death is scary either way. cause even if you're a christian, you might go to hell right? like maybe you fucked up. maybe you angered god somehow. you don't know that.
i think of death like the time before i was alive. i'm not scared of the time before i was a life. so the time after i'm alive is just gonna be like that. also since i don't believe in rebirth or afterlife, that makes life itself more valuable. cause you got one shot at it. that's it. better make it count.

Honestly it's about having empathy for a future "you". What is a dead future "me" likely to experience, value, love, and feel? He won't feel anything. He will be asleep for all of eternity, and as scary as that might seem to the instinctual part of the mind, I know that I won't be missing anything that I value today.

More scary than being judged and much more likely than not (not just for me but for the vast majority, if not all people) be punished for eternity by a petty, jealous, emotionally unstable, bigoted, sadistic, megalomanical, psychopathic, tyrant?
No, I'm good thanks, from my perspective you are the one with the problem.
It depends. Some will feel utter freedom. Others will feel utter despair, what was it all for.
Of course the same can be said for those whose faith does not include certainty. In fact, a fear of eternal separation from God should be more terrifying than the fear of oblivion. Not at all. I think it would be much scarier thinking there is one and that you might end up in the wrong one. I wasn’t scared of an existence before birth, why would I be scared of one after death?
Cessation of existence trope, and also the anti-nihilist trope, it not an easy truth to accept.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dMaK6k4oZ20by realizing this is the only life you get and to make the best of it. and once we die there is no coming back.
and as @quackthulu2 said we weren't scared of not existing before we were born. no logical reason to be scared after we die.
Why i see it, it is at is it like not being born rich sure it sucks but what can you do. Also it can be a form of inspiration to do all you can to be happy today as it's not like I have a afterlife to make up for that lost day
It seems to me that an afterlife would be more scary, particularly if you're a heathen sinner. If nothing comes after death then there's nothing to be scared of. You're alive one day, dead the next. Circle of Life.
Comforting yourself with fairy tales of existence after death is a little bit naive.
They lie and deny. Which is why they are mere atheists.
Believing in an afterlife is like believing money grows on trees. It would be really nice if it was true, but just wishing something was true doesn't make it so.
We believe what we think is true, not what we wish was true.
I'm not really scared any more. I just see it as an end. Like when you sleep and don't remember the dream.
No, you just go to sleep and never wake up.
