If my mom was more gentle and not judgmental I would invited her inside. But sadly my mom is obsessed judmental catholic who judge my gay friend telling him he is going to hell. Not only that she is always critical of my for leaving the catholic church. As an adult I no longer go to church because of the toxic negative people. Now 8 years ago my mom went all Karen mode on me because I didn't have religous statues in my apartment also for playing normal music like Ariana Grande my mom said demons were coming and she wated me to only play catholic songs always complaining about my furniture and for being a minimalist. Now she cries plays the honor your parents CARD and to allowed her inside my home. I grew up inside a crazy religous catholic fanatic house hold. I am now grown in my 30s married I have 2 little boys andI dont want my kids in that toxic environment. What would you do

As a Muslim, I can suggest you to Honour your parents, Honouring one’s parents means obeying them, respecting them, praying for them, lowering one's voice in their presence, smiling at them, lowering the wing of humility to them, not showing displeasure towards them, striving to serve them, fulfilling their wishes, consulting them, listening to what they say, not being stubborn towards them and respecting their friends both during their lifetime and after they have died. Honouring them also means visiting them, offering them gifts, thanking them for bringing you up and treating you kindly when you were small and after you grew up.

It is your house your rules If she wants to visit your family then tell her the rule of your house. Then the decision is hers no haggling no exceptions.

You’re not obligated to do jack. If she’s making you feel guilty, you should tell her that if she wasn’t such a negative presence she would be happily welcomed into your home. Instead all she does is tell you everything you’re doing wrong and condemning your innocent friend to hell, so she’s not welcome. Set boundaries, you’re good.
