Is it rude to deny a priest if you're bedridden?

My friend's uncle has terminal cancer and there is no cure.

His family members contacted Catholic chancellor services. A priest came and even when he's very sick in bed, he wanted that priest out, saying he doesn't believe in BS. He was upset to see a priest. He's always been a militant atheist but do you think it's rude denying it on your last days?

I don't think so. If he doesn't believe in God. Doesn't have a faith then making him do something he doesn't want to is going to make him annoyed. So, it's understandable why he didn't want to see the priest they invited. You need to respect the wishes of the of a person who's dying.

He's seriously ill and in pain. Even the priest knows it's common to want to be left alone. I'm pretty sure his god understands.

I don't know if it's "rude" per se. That would just depend on how the priest was dismissed. Based on what you've said here though, there's not much left to the imagination.

Honestly, I would've reacted the same. It's very rude to try forcing religious stances on someone that's not religious. I will remain an atheist till death just like Stephen Hawkings did. At least he has dignity and integrity.

If someone did that on my last days, I would expressed my total disappointment and lack of consideration for my feelings. Bringing a priest to an atheist is totally rude.
