I don't care what people do if they smoke or not thanks don't be holier than thou please. If anyone wants to light up his or her "cancer" stick as you call em it's their pown damn business. Thanks
Yeah it's their business if they choose to smoke but they shouldn't choose whether or not we get to smoke with them. It's about not lighting up next to people, it's hurting their bodies and it's not right their fresh air has to be tainted because someone else is inconsiderate. I'm talking about people who will see you sitting down on a bench either waiting for someone or a bus stop and plopping next to you and start smoking. Absolutely everything about that is wrong.
It's not judgmental bitching, don't smoke around people. No one should be forced to breathe in second hand smoke, that's unfair and damaging to their bodies. Is it really that hard for you to go to a smoking area, or just not smoke at all? If the answer is yes, then you're a weak human being.
@dudeman Is it? But I own my lunges? I own my medical aid? I own my health? And you are bringing harm to it.
So according to your logic, I can just go out and stab people all I want to. It's your fault that you're out here? You don't own me? 😂 or the streets? 😂
@dudeman your failed argument is that the take owner shouldn't go outside because she doesn't own the earth. *Ahem* neither do you. It is the right, yes, right of every human being on this earth to protect and look out for their health and the health of their loved ones for without our health, we have nothing. The fact that you have personally chosen to disregard this fact, merely proves her point. She didn't say you can't smoke, she asked that you smoke in designated areas where both you and she can both do what you'd like to do. For her, breathe and be healthy, and for you, smoke and not be healthy. You have no argument about the benefits of smoking that hasn't already scientifically medically common sense wise been disproved as to "benefits" to anyone or anything of smoking. There is a simple option if you'd like not to hear "bitching," or you know, "caring" and that's listen to your DOCTOR and stop smoking. The end.
@BeeNee nahh it wasn't a failed argument. the argument was that its a public place and if we don't outlaw cars for the same reason as cigarette smoke then its time non smokers just stfu. what about women who have a lot of kids and we get taxed for it. should women get mandatory hysterectomies. how about the fact that women far outnumber men in the public sector. should women go back to the kitchen because the only reason women are able to work is by taxing men unfairly?
@dudeman You just have absolutely no clue. I have had two family members die of lung cancer, one of which didn't even smoke but her husband did for their entire marriage and the other smoked. Don't tell me or anyone else to stfu about smoking and how its none of my business. You don't get to lecture me about how it shouldn't be my problem or anyone elses. I have a right to protect my health and do the best I can for my family and yeah, I'm going to keep telling you and others like you to get out of my air space and my families air space with it because I have no desire to attend yet another funeral.
@BeeNee smoking indoors is different then outdoors. so yes please stfu. outside smoke is going to have minimal effect on you so please get off your high horse.
Here's the thing. What the fanatic anti-smokers are doing is taking something completely out of context, taking it to totally absurd lengths, and using it as an excuse to act like condescending, self-righteous, judgmental jerks.
The second hand smoke argument doesn't fly. What's it's really about is some people who just don't happen to like it. The data about second hand smoke is about people who live with smokers, or work in a bar where there is heavy smoke. Yet you have people who walk down a sidewalk and get a brief whiff of smoke getting all dramatic and coughing, waving their hands, and generally making a fool of themselves.
It's about people who just don't happen to like it, and the health issue is nothing but an excuse. There is no way you could make a valid health argument when it comes to getting a few whiffs of smoke outdoors. It's completely insignificant compared to all the other crap we breathe.
A lot of it is just opinion. I'm not a smoker. But I actually like the smell of tobacco smoke. I think it's a pleasant smell, in the same way I think campfires are a pleasant smell. On the other hand, people wearing perfume, cologne and even some deodorants are sickening. It’s far worse than smoke. But I don't go around being a drama queen, insulting them, and telling them that they have no place in civilized society.
If people want to smoke, fine. If it's bad for their health, that's their choice. If they live with others and smoke inside, that's a whole different matter. But that's not what the anti-smoking fanatics are all about. They just don't happen to like it. Deal with it. I'm more concerned about all the idiots who really are killing people by talking on their phones while driving.
This entire take is condescending, insulting and uses supposed logic that a 5th grader should see the flaws in.
The sad thing is you keep comparing cigarette smoke to things like cologne or taxes, but there is no health risk to those. You talk about people smoking and having the free will to do so, yet this unfairly takes away my ability to avoid such smoke that I don't want exposure to. At least where I live, thank goodness, people can only smoke in designated areas.. not in bars, not in restaurants, not at parks, not at university. These things get approved so easily because smokers cannot prove any health benefit to themselves or others only that what they personally are doing is damaging to others/themselves. There is a reason they can only smoke in designated areas because that gives people who want fresh air the ability to do so without unfairly being subjected to smoke. Smoking is dangerous and its optional until a smoker removes that choice for a non-smoker by smoking in their face. After all this, you're not even a smoker so its like why even bother fighting this is you don't smoke?
@BeeNee I compare to perfumes and colognes to show it's a matter of opinion. And also, just because I don't like it doesn't mean I freak out and go an anti-perfume crusade.
It's annoying as a non smoker in the same way that evangelical preachy Christians are annoying to normal Christians. I've known a lot of non-smokers who felt the same way.
It's not that big a deal. People are being over sensitive and making a mountain out of a molehill. Furthermore, the entire health aspect is ludicrous. If they just don't like it, then just say they don't like it, instead of all the drama that only makes them look foolish.
Your health is important, period. All this to me however is a relatively moot point. As I said, I live in a pretty much smoke free world now where smokers are banished to some corner to freely smoke their lungs out while I, and the majority of the population can enjoy our clean fresh air away from the dangers of their smoking which is essentially where the take concluded.
Drinking is banned form public places. Well it is in Auckland anyway. If you walk the street drinking alcohol or something if the police see you they will come and talk to you, I think you can get a fine and they will probably tip the drink out.
@liesiegirl I've been living in a house for 16 years with a smoker and I don't have cancer, so being beside someone for a couple minutes with a smoke isn't goona kill them
Just because you haven't gotten sick doesn't mean anyone else isn't. The point is, you're forcing someone to smoke with you, you're forcing someone else to damage their body. You are forcing someone to inhale poison. When you pollute the air that people are trying to breathe you're killing them with you. It doesn't matter is it's 16 years or 16 seconds, if someone doesn't smoke they shouldn't be forced to breathe in second-hand garbage because someone is either too selfish and lazy to find a designated smoking area, or too weak of a human being to lay off of their crutch for a few minutes and smoke when no one is around.
My dad smokes inside the car, and if I tell him to stop he yells at me. Kinda sad I'm not going to make it past 40 just because he can't deal with reality...
Are you able to roll your window down when he does? I'm not very close to my mom and when I was visiting she was smoking with me, my 5yr old sister and 1 year old baby brother in the car. I was too uncomfortable to say anything but I did breathe out the window the whole time. Can you do that, or talk to your mom?
I'm sorry to hear about that. It's not right for your dad to do those things around you, if he doesn't want to respect his own body then fine, but he should certainly respect yours. I'm not sure what else you can do but talk to him. I guess the window thing will have to do until you can ride in your own car.
Hey it certainly sounds like a good idea. Have you seen those tobacco free commercials? I don't know how that doesn't suffice for some people lol. You might even be able to start a club at your school, it would be really great if you had your peers get involved and be apart of something really positive.
What why not? You should bring it up to the school, you might be starting something that's new and exciting for the kids to get involved with. And if it's not accepted it's still something you could do after school. :)
I don't smoke where other people are standing or whatever but still... you sound like a whiny little bitch. Lol. Kinda makes me wanna go blow smoke at people.
"Um, excuse me, but could you please stand further away from the bus stop? Like, I don't care about what you put in your body or whatever, but I don't want any of your second hand fat."
@MaskedSanity Lol. "I know it's your body and you can put what ever you want in it. But do you really need to do it around others, the smell of grease will be in my hair all day. I can already feel my arteries acting up".
A generalization doesn't talk about every single person, a generalization only identifies those specific cases mentioned so no I'm not talking about all smokers. @RachelBrigs I've heard from friends that their buddies and others like to put weed in those portable hookah pens and smoke it that way. However I've never seen it in person as I try to avoid anyone smoking at all times.
@RachelBrigs everyone around where I live use vapes to smoke weed. and all age ranges... I've seen cashiers and baggers @ stories using vape pens outside.
@RachelBrigs oil or if you mean glycerin, is usually for ecigs. vapes are usually for dry stuff, like weed. that's what everyone uses them for... you can smell it.

@RachelBrigs in my area, if I walked up to all the people using vapes, they'd tell me it was weed. people aren't shy about admitting it at all. and I've met plenty of people lol.
@myTake Owner, yep that's exactly what I've seen. and those people will come to work really high and barely be able to function, and they're not embarrassed at all. it's totally normal to them. I couldn't imagine any of them using vape juice.

well like I said persnally I dont care
Dear anti-smoker. Shut the hell up and mind your own business. Smokers get tired of hearing your judgmental bitching.

This isn't judgmental 😂
"Hey murderer, you are killing people. Stop. And be considerate of their and loved ones"
Murderer: "shutup you judgmental b*tch"
So she can't complain to smokers that they're damaging her health? Okay. Grraayyyyt.
@QooLipBite Lol nice one. :D

I sense you're a smoker. At least you probably don't have much longer to live. The world would be better off without you:)
I agree!
But addicts only care about their addiction...
I don't see how smoking is any worse than drinking alcohol. If smoking is banned from public places then I believe alcohol should be as well
Hey why not? Drunk drivers kill people just like second hand smoke.
Drinking is banned form public places. Well it is in Auckland anyway. If you walk the street drinking alcohol or something if the police see you they will come and talk to you, I think you can get a fine and they will probably tip the drink out.
@Applefan1 I'm meaning that if smoking is banned from bars and in restaurants then so should alcohol
If I sip a beer next to you it won't give you cancer
exactly!
@liesiegirl I've been living in a house for 16 years with a smoker and I don't have cancer, so being beside someone for a couple minutes with a smoke isn't goona kill them

Your argument is more emotional than factual. =(
noooooooo i said exactly to @ElizabethBiersack
Its a point well made
I just protect my nose with some kind of cover and move past smokers.
Yeah, I do. But still, one nostril gets good air and one nostril gets poison.
And I can't talk with my mom because she broke up with my dad.
I'm sorry to hear about that. It's not right for your dad to do those things around you, if he doesn't want to respect his own body then fine, but he should certainly respect yours. I'm not sure what else you can do but talk to him. I guess the window thing will have to do until you can ride in your own car.
Yeah, I'm pretty much used to it. Thanks for trying though.
You're welcome, I truly wish you the best.
You too!
Maybe we should start an anti-smoking campaign, lol.
Make a club and all haha.
Hey it certainly sounds like a good idea. Have you seen those tobacco free commercials? I don't know how that doesn't suffice for some people lol. You might even be able to start a club at your school, it would be really great if you had your peers get involved and be apart of something really positive.

Why not? I don't know. Never asked. But yeah, maybe I should try. Thanks for the idea.
You're welcome, if you decide to go for it good luck! :)
Hey, thanks! You're so nice!
Lol thank you, you are too :D So nice meeting you.
Aww, you're such an ego boost!
Beat the living crap out of him the next time he does it. I'd be happy to assist you with that.
Go live with your mom
@Shayan_Mortazavi I already live with my mom, but I have to see him weekends and that.
Just flat out refuse to see him then
Nah, his house is just too cool how to stop going.
If second hand smoke is detrimental to your life then you must be addicted to a slot machine at your local casino.
Yup. And the laws banning smoking indoors are gonna keep it that way.
@jjmarvin not on indian reservations
And they have a certain level of sovereignty. They may exercise it as they wish. I think it's bad though.
I don't smoke where other people are standing or whatever but still... you sound like a whiny little bitch. Lol. Kinda makes me wanna go blow smoke at people.
You sound like such a good person.
By the way blowing smoke in someone's face counts as physical contact, so enjoy your assault charges.
Lol I love working up the trolls it's better than coffee on a cold morning. Thanks doll.

Commie, you can blow smoke at me all day. She strikes me as the least popular kid on the playground, but beloved by teachers.
Hahaha love this. Upvoted :p
Agreed. Fuck smokers!
Substitute fat people for smokers and see how ridiculous and pretentious this is.
Fattys burger isn't giving me cancer, he can live how he pleases. Take that shit outside.
The dude stuffing his face with fries isn't stuffing fries in everyone else's face around him too...
not. funny
damn smokers... damn cancer mongers... why can't they smoke pot like sensible people?
Cause, fuk tha police!
Lol whaaa? xD
Dont ask me, i just wanted to type fuk tha police :)
Cause you know, fuk tha police.

I try...😔😔😔🚬🚬🚬
As long as you're trying girl. :) :)
I am thanks! Zonnic helps!
What's Zonnic? Lol
A gum that helps
Aha, yeah that sounds good, and a little healthier.
Way to generalize all smokers
A generalization doesn't talk about every single person, a generalization only identifies those specific cases mentioned so no I'm not talking about all smokers. I was referring to the title
I don't think the title is as important but hey, who couldn't use a little more class in their life?
Don't generalise.. :/
It wasn't a generalization. The very first sentence says who this is addressed to. Also, a generalization doesn't apply to all, it only discusses those specific cases identified. So even if it was a generalization, I wouldn't be in the wrong.
people who vape weed do the same.
They're also a problem.
Who's "vaping weed" in public? Who is "vaping" weed period?
@RachelBrigs I've heard from friends that their buddies and others like to put weed in those portable hookah pens and smoke it that way. However I've never seen it in person as I try to avoid anyone smoking at all times.

@RachelBrigs oil or if you mean glycerin, is usually for ecigs. vapes are usually for dry stuff, like weed. that's what everyone uses them for... you can smell it.
Uh... maybe where you're from I guess? We put vape juice in vapes here... you can't really VAPE something dry lol. You can SMOKE dry things..

I've only known one person to use it for weed.
Oh well you clearly don't get out much or speak to other people. 😂😂
@RachelBrigs She was using a generalization. She certainly doesn't mean every single person who vapes is using it for weed, she's talking about specific people, and in her experience it's a lot.
