this is a retarded mytake. i have served 2 tours of afghan and have fought alongside women on the frontline. we had female medics attached to us and they fought just as hard and contributed to the section as well as any male soldier.
you obviously have never been on tour.
And... people can be different sizes, there's tons of really small guys.
Yeah, Israel has the 14th strongest military, while we have the 1st. They also have 8 million people, compared to 320 million for us. Given that we have a 40:1 population ratio in our favor, it is absolutely ridiculous to measure their absolute military strength in direct comparison to ours.
We also spend a shit-ton of money on a military

I've spoken about this a lot. It's unfortunate that most people don't see the reality of this. Many countries have tried women in combat roles Germany, and Russia both did during WW II with horrible results, the Israelis tried co-ed combat troupes and found them to be problematic. Ultimately there is no reason to force women into service, if the US needs troupes that badly then we have already lost.
if we have to resort to a draft we are most likely in trouble, but that's somewhat irrelevant to the hypothetical question. as it stands today it would take an absolutely epic war to force selective services to re-institute the draft
women shouldn't be drafted because they are not physically able to fill in the role of a man in that situation. Try asking a woman to lift something heavy when there is a stronger, more able man there beside her. I don't care about having equality that's fine, but you still have to understand the fine line between what makes a man a man and a woman a woman. If you ever think women will be the same as men.. I hate to pop your feminist bubble, but it's not going to happen.

As long as I am not personally drafted, I don't really care. If strength is the big issue then weak scrawny men shouldn't be drafted either.

well I believe the army does reject you if they think you're not fit enough. For example if you have diabetes you won't ever be drafted.
It's just that drafts are mostly a lottery and you can't tell from your id if you're weak or not.
And I think the difference as well is that men can be made stronger much more than women

I love how the "equality brigade" doesn't shut up when it comes to things they want, but then turn all "victim" when they are forced to partake in losing something because of "equality".
You can't have just the good and not the bad, and adding women to the draft was mainly just proving that point. It was the first time feminist shot themselves in the foot and they have been back pedaling ever since.
I honestly think feminism is going entirely too far. It's one thing for us to be allowed to work and vote, but now women are fighting for things that simply aren't necessary and it's blurring the lines between male and female.
I don't think it was men that came up with this idea to begin with, so I am not sure why you are talking to men about this. You should talk to feminists about this issue. I for one don't agree with most of what feminists say either way.
I feel that if a girl wants to go combat arms she needs to be at a very high physical level of strength because there are some guys that cannot even hang. Don't drop the standards, just take the ones that can continuously pass set standards.
That's why women should revoke all rights that men have only because they can be drafted. Fair is fair after all. Stop being a sexist hypocrite and own up to your bigotry.

@mistixs well one, men don't have rights over their children so that's a moronic argument to begin with, secondly they are as much his children as hers, third her rights to her children are protected under law (his are not) and have nothing to do with getting drafted. Men got the right to vote because they where drafted. Its literaly the only reason men get to vote. If you do not sign up for selective services you do not get to vote as a man. The same thing does not apply to women who get the right simply by existing. Ergo if a woman wants true equality that requires her to stop being a hypocrite (and sexist (not that that word means anything unless its directed towards a man)) and be equal in both priviledge and responsibility or revoke your priviledge so that you can have no responsibility. Again I don't really care which but don't try to do both because that just shows how full of shit (and solipsistic) you really are.

Drafting anyone against their will is dangerous, but women are perfectly capable of being soldiers, since the time of the Amazons.
US military studies are patriarchal, misogynistic and chauvinistic, but it doesn't surprise me, most of the Yanks are religious bigots.
Why not just draft both men and women? If a woman doesn't meet the physical standards, don't enlist her. It's that simple.

I think more people should just opt out of the draft, there's something you can sign to do that. In exchange you have to opt out of the military for life though.
Men aren't allowed to vote if they don't sign up for the draft. It's kind of a big deal. Plus they aren't opting out of just military service, they wouldn't be allowed civilian benefits, like student aid. They can't apply for federal jobs, like the postal service. And they aren't recognized as citizens, and it's actually illegal for them not to sign up... Like, it's a $250,000 fine and/or five years in prison.

Also, since student aid can be a rip off, that I don't know anyone who has a gov job because it's so hard to get hired in them especially, I don't see those 2 as bad. But the wikihow has more details... it's not illegal to opt out for sure, and you'd still be a citizen I think. Don't know too much about it, but there are other sites that talk about this.

As for voting, felons can't vote, although there are processes in place in some states to try to get that right reinstated.
So the legislation regarding doesn't explicitly say a man can't vote. But since it's a felony not to register as a male, it is effectively one of the consequences.
@TiffyPuff there's a document you can sign, that's legal and offered to people. If you sign, well here's this from Method 2:
Conscientious objectors are excused from military service in many countries. In the US, they not only include members of pacifist churches like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Quakers, Mennonites, and Amish but also anyone who claims, and can prove, to have a “firm, fixed and sincere objection to participation in war in any form or the bearing of arms, by reason of religious training and belief.” There are also two distinct classes: Class 1-O and Class 1-A-O. The first is for people who sincerely object to any participation in war whatsoever. The second group object to participation in war as combatants, but not to participation in a non-combatant role.
So on top of that, apparently you can do this even if you've already taken a military oath! The other methods talk about different countries.
Conscientious Objectors still have to sign up for the draft or it's a felony. The only time they can then seek to be called Conscientious Objectors is when their SS number is called and they've actually been drafted. That's covered on US Government website.

Just seems to me that sometimes there's confusion about this, so I looked it up one time cuz I have brothers, and I was surprised how harsh the penalties and requirements are. Like, basically if you're male that can breathe, you have to register. But failing physicals and conscientious objecting don't kick in until you actually get called to serve
In any case, it's good we haven't had a draft since Vietnam, and hopefully we won't need one again. But it kinda sucks to be a guy with those laws.
