So why the title you may ask ?
Well, most people think of an autistic person as just a crazy disabled person so by me claiming what I claim in the title, you might think I'm just insulting people here.
I'm not, so what's autism ?
According to Wikipedia (yes it's a legit source) the definition is :
"Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication"
So you remember all those questions ?
"What did it mean when he hugged me ?"
"What does it mean when she's shy around me ?"
"What did he mean when he said this ?"
It seems a lot of people here just don't understand the social interactions they have, and of course it might be a million different reasons, but you know that saying ?
“When you hear hoofbeats think horses, not zebras.”
It's a common saying in medical school meaning to focus on the likeliest options when making a diagnosis.
The likeliest options are autism and just dumbness, either those people are autistic to a certain degree, or just dumb but since I don't think calling people dumb for no reason (or at all) is justified, the only likely option left is autism.
If you've asked a question like this, there's no reason to be offended, just another reason to see if you really have trouble with social interactions and communicating with other people and get help.
Treatments for autism may reduce your anxiety, improve your functional skills, and help manage your emotions appropriately.
Seeking treatment may also introduce you to a world of professionals and support groups who better understand the challenges of living with autism.
So that's myTake on a really common behaviour phenomenon on this site and also my attempt to bring up what might and probably is, a really serious problem.
