Texas is THE Most Conceited State in the Union

A recent video went viral proclaiming Texas to be THE most conceited state in the Union, and being a Texan, I say, where is the lie? Everybody loves to hate us, but we don't care. Like, at all. We may fight like cats and dogs amongst ourselves, but let another state come for us, and its shots fired (and you all know we have a sh-- ton of guns).

What everyone thinks Texas is like
What everyone thinks Texas is like

Just look at the amount of popular slogans we sling about:

"Everything is bigger in Texas"
"Don't Mess with Texas"
"Lone Star State"
"Remember the Alamo"
"Friendship State"
"Come and Take It"
"Keep Austin Weird"

Texas is THE Most Conceited State in the Union

The video pointed out that most states may string up an American flag outside of their business, but it's so true, here in Texas, it's both the American and the Texas flag literally everywhere. If you grew up before the 90s, everyday in school, you would rise and say the pledge of allegiance followed by the Texas pledge. If you've ever driven through the state or stopped at a hotel that includes the free breakfast, tell me you haven't had to heat up or been served a waffle shaped like Texas. I mean, we're obnoxious at political conventions, we have one of the most recognizable flags in the Union, we're one of THE top five most visited states internationally and locally and we WILL argue with you for hours about having the best BBQ.

We really do love our state...when we talk to other states. We will talk up the virtues of Texas until, well, the cows come home. It's just what we were taught, and a value we seem to just possess the more you grow up here and put down roots. I mean it also helps that it takes 11 hours to drive across our own state and we can basically never leave, so best to love it, eh?
