Why do most guys find dark skinned black girls less attractive?

I have noticed that guys don't find dark skinned girls attractive and always regard them as the "last pick". This is true of all races of guys including black guys regardless of whether or not they are dark skinned. Why is this? What is so unattractive about skin being darker?

Personally, im open to dating women of all races, but im not usually attracted to black women. Besides my mother and sister, i didn't really grow up around that many black women, so i never gained much attraction for them. The black women that i have been attracted to in the past dated white men exclusively, or they dated interracially exclusively (ie. no black men allowed)... so that too has also turned me off from pursuing black women. I find that white women tend to appreciate some things about me that are seen more as negatives amongst blacks too. So there are many reasons why I personally don't find black girls that attractive, usually... and tbh i don't really care about the whole light skin/dark skin thing either. Whether you're dark or light, you're still black to me, so i don't have a stronger preference for one over the other.

Im actually going to give a mature answer so here:

Just my belief but I feel most guys cannot register face features as well as they can lighter ones. This might be subconsciously. Have you noticed that it's mostly the mixed girls that get attention, like Rihanna, Halle Berry, Alicia keys etc? For a good ol dark chocolate girl it takes twice the beauty. Plus, the aforementioned have some Caucasian face features (see most lack wide noses) that society has placed as desirable.

There are attractive girls in every race. But there is also a stereotype of the attitude some black girls show. This might be a turn off for men. They shouldn't stereotype but sadly some do.

I think you have something here. I think what you said is true also when it's time to differentiate between black people. It's like our brain has evolved to differentiate between our own race but is at a loss at finding the right cues to differentiate between individuals of another race. That is why we think Samuel L Jackson plays every black role in cinema. It is actually the name of a collective of black people fooling us into thinking it's the same guy. How else could he play in so many movies? It would be impossible !

I also agree with the attitude thing. While it is true that we shouldn't stereotype, unfortunately, it's something that has only been reinforced with time in my case. It looks to me by experience that most black woman I cross path with do indeed have the sassy/bratty I do what I want attitude. And this is soooo not sexy !

that's interesting you should say that. My mom always used to tell me when I was younger that to be a pretty darkskinned girl you have to be twice as pretty as someone who is lighter and that I should take pride in that. I always thought it was a weird thing to say. My mom is lighter than me and I have my father's complexion. It was also odd growing up that my brother wouldn't date anyone who was dark-skinned. They had to be lightskinned or different races. Not to mention guys that I would like would say I don't date dark skin girls. So I guess I just internalized that.

Juicy brain, you also have an interesting point. Also, I'm sorry you have only come across black women that have a "bratty" attitude not all black women are like that, I know I'm not. Furthermore, you can find that particular characteristic in women of all races.

I think there are two reasons: 1) because the Western media is the most powerful media. There're mostly white girls in ads/fashion shows/etc, so guys see lots of beautiful white girls, but few beautiful girls with another skin colours, so they subconsciously perceive white women as more attractive; and 2) because most guys like cute feminine girls and often associate black girls with ghetto culture because of stereotypes. But I don't get it either, I've seen lots of gorgeous ladies with dark skin.

It's funny because I've seen dark skinned girls get downgraded and overlooked, but a really fine dark skinned girl has people about to lose their minds. When a chocolate girl is pretty she's really pretty

It's similar with white women. I seem to like the more pale ones than those who go and get tanned.

I have always found Black girls very attractives, more than any other. It didn't change and never will whatever some people could say. I've finally married one, my lovely wife so dear to my heart for more than ten years.
