I'd say either call him up, or if you're uncomfortable with that, wait for him to call you, before attempting to add him on Facebook. Just because things can be awkward after that one night, and so much can be misinterpreted--you should know what his intentions and feelings toward you are. (For example, for him it might have been just a one-night thing, and you don't want to get your feelings hurt if he ignores your Facebook friend request. Seeing the request might put too much pressure on him, where he might be more receptive to adding you after you've had some more contact.)
In terms of clear communication, in person is best, over the phone is second, and email/FB/texting is last, so if you can't see him in person, speaking over the phone is your next best bet. The point is to make sure he still wants to be in touch with you first. Best of luck.
