there's one. Causes by personal choice.. I've gotten the same or more pay than a male at my jobs. And I know plenty of females who get paid more than males.
@ShaeNielson well they could of paid us for the days we couldn't work due to the baby. But most people won't! Or like how some guys get picked to shove up snow because women don't have much stregth as men. Stuff like that makes are wage go down.
@jacquesvol When they calculate the differences they don't look at how much the genders each work, they just look at their positions and how much they've made. Maybe men just work longer hours and strive for higher positions, where women aren't as ambitious - maybe due to having children and a family.
OP: I live in Denmark where we have 6 months fully paid maternity leave, so I can't help you there.
@ShaeNielson well there you go. But I know for a fact that if you get pregant and you don't have a husband or family support you pretty much going to be struggling. My mom worked all the time she was big with me. She only stop to give birth and than took a week and went back to work my mom pretty hard core but she had no one and she had to.
There is a gender wage gap... only in feminists' minds though..

there a pay gap definitely but i don't consider it to be the most important issue facing women, it's hardly anything and it is true that women take time off with pregnancy etc.

There is a gender pay gap caused by sexism and by personal choice and it usually effects women.
Didn't vote. No option to cover that one.
That is what the "Other" poll option is for.
But, you had already mentioned them... I tend to think of the other option as "it's due to elephants" - something totally different.
No. here's a budget from a law firm. find the gap.

..
I suppose it varies by job. I work in a field of 12 guys. I make the same as or more then those 12 guys.

I personally don't believe in the pay gap.
If there is one, i haven't see it, nor heard it expressed from any females i know
Women here earn less for the same job as a man, and no, it is not something feminists made up.
Maybe... My mum pays my female maid more than the male one
Yes because when women have babies they have to take sometime off creating a unequal balance!
this is true...
@orphan O:
wat?
@orphan Someone said I was right! Yes!*
well you are.. here's a little proof (from this firm at least)

But that's not sexism, that's biology.

@ShaeNielson It's not the 2 children /woman and 12 weeks maternity leave in the US that explain the differences in incomes earned by women.

@ShaeNielson really? I live in America and they don't pay for labor leave. Unless its like a special job but most employers would never do that.
Yea we have a lot of that here.

Yea, most of the world have problems with that.

In some fields, yes
If you watch Fox News, no. lol
Yes there is a pay gap where women do earn less than men, but it is not the result of sexism.
If you account for all variable it's about the same. Guys will earn more on average since they typically work more hours and choose higher paying jobs
It seems women want to be more then men for less work.
very interesting poll indeed.
Yes there is especially with lawyers still
Yes there is but its only 23c.
Its a bit of both
