i would say crossed because it's comfortable for me so i think it could be comfortable for guys if their balls are out of the way.

the second position takes too much space and could potentially piss off everyone in the vicinity.

I choose B, not because it's "American" but to me guys just seem like they feel more relaxed or laid back sitting like that and that's how I want people to feel around me. but then again I don't really mind how they sit, legs crossed or on the knee.
obviously whatever feels more comfortable to that individual :)

Believe it or not, the balls hang below the thighs when sitting. It's more of a flexibility issue if anything.
