She broke up with me because of school?

My ex-girlfriend broke up with me because she said she'll be too busy for school, and since this is the last year of High school, it's important for her to get into a good University. She said she wouldn't be able to focus on me, and she'd feel guilty. She keeps telling me that I can do better, but I really don't think so.

We're still great friends, I just don't see her anymore. We only talk online now. She said that once she graduates, she might be looking into relationships again(which means we might be able to get back together). I don't know if that's what's holding me back from getting over her, but I just can't seem to get over her, and it's driving my insane.

So I guess my question is, what should I do to get over this breakup? Should I wait for her, because my heart is telling me to...

I just feel so empty now.

I can't say I fully agree with the anonymous girl that said it was an excuse to break up with you. Some people really are self involved in school and need to stay on track(there can be more on the line then what you know. Her parents could give her a hard time about school and she doesn't need another reason for them to come down on her). On that note, no where am I justifying how she left to be right. You don't have to agree why she broke with you, but you should respect it.

Honesly, I think you should just stop talking to her. Cut her out until you are in control of your emotions. If you continue to stay friends with her while you are still hurt, you are just gonna go back and forth about this girl and it won't help you move on. If she really cares about you she'll understand and be patient with you to come around. Friends, real friends don't need to talk everyday to stay friends.

Don't wait around for something that isn't promised. Use this time to better yourself and move on. You have nothing but time. Use it to do what is best for you, not her.

Thanks buddy, you were right though, I forgot to add in some details. We're both Chinese, but her parents are hard core Chinese parents, like they don't even let her out of the house during summer vacation, sigh.

Hard core chinese, yeah for sure she can't be dating anyone at this time. She has enough to worry about. Make sure you give yourself time to heal and don't think about getting back together. Work on u. Become successful so it will be hard for any girl to say no to you and for her to want to come back when she has school done. If I know asians parents, its that they take education seriously and want their children to be financially secure. All parents do but asians are strict.

I'm literally in the same position now. she broke up with me 2 days ago because she can't focus on school and it bothers her a lot because she wants to enroll in the college. And she has a lot stress about all that thing. I am broken right now aswell ass you and dont know what to do.

Im sorry to hear this but I can tell you want thing... if you want to be with somebody you are with that somebody no matter what the rest of your life looks like... my guess is she doesn't want to be with you anymore and is probably trying not to hurt you by giving you the school excuse.

There are 2 ways you can deal with this... 1, move on, hang out with your friends and stay busy until you meet someone else... try not talking to her... or 2, if you really want her back, talk to her, tell her you will help her on the university thing and support her... if she still doesn't want to then disappear from her map... she'll probably go looking for you...whatever you do DO NOT BEG!

I don't believe she made up an excuse to break up with you. It sounds like she was truthful about how school would take up her time. If you want to wait for her, you can. Take advantage of the moments you have contact with her and give her compliments (real not fake) and be her cheer-leading team as she goes through school. Spend your time away from her getting to know yourself better, learning new things, challenging yourself to grow as a person. If you do want to date other people, that is up to you.

Ok personally in my opinion she made up an excuse to break up with you. Your senior year of high school is definitely the easiest and no girl enjoys being single due to prom ect. So I wouldn't wait for her because if she is going to a university after school she will be a lot busier then than she is now.
