Why do stories of degradation and humiliation make you more popular, people are more interested?

People hang on to your every word.
First of all I am not implying that people enjoy other people's suffrage, but it seems to be more entertaining to many.
When a scandal happens in celebrities' lives people seem so eager to hear more and remember them more, but when they made an expensive record deal or something positive like that it receives less interest.
I see this in myself, when someone has drama they want to talk about I am more willing to speak up.
Is it because we want to provide our insight and advice?
Yeah this question was inspired and really came from The Simpsons. But I wondered it since.

@Jimmijo1954 That study was first done several years ago. I remember because my coworker explained it to me so I would better understand and improve the review process.

This is obviously what I branched off of for blatant reasons. I was giving a supporting story to help solidify your statement considering you left that open ended. I don't recall ever being obscene in any regard to you in my response. How about you chill your 50 year old ass off man. If we want to bring it down to facts or assumptions of eachother i'm more then happy too. I assume you're a bitter old man because of factors in his past relationship or relationships that didn't go well for you. @jimmijo1954 what's funny is you replied to me. I posted on the direct thread. You keep coming back to reply yourself. Secondly, if I took things out of context you could simply say so. In addition, if you don't believe my so called "Fairy Tale" that's fine. You're under no obligation to believe what I say nor do I Care if you do. One thing I do care about though is someone calling another out for grammar and overall proper English ethic when they themselves lack it drastically in their dispute against the other.

A recent study found that people who have a negative experience with the business will tell an average of five people friends etc. about her bad experience. But if a person has an especially good experience with a business it is likely they will tell only three people about the positive experience. I think this is similar the urge we have to stare as we pass a bad accident on the road, and it is maybe the same forces that your question is about.

That study is far from recent my friend. Secondly, i find this to be more of a fear of comfrontation that many posses when it comes to ignoring a car wreck. I've personally seen cars flip off the road in a heap of metal and people ignore the entire thing. I had to pull the old gentleman and his wife from the driver side window to get them out of the car. The thing is i was a distance back and no one stopped till i had gotten there five minutes later and already started pulling them from the car. Me being there first boosted any confidence others lacked. People nowadays are far too enabled in everyday life and require a lead before they are willing to truly do anything. They can have pseudo confidence and attitudes all day long though when shit hits the fan they'll fall apart one by one.

Oh, yeah I am that way too it is nice to receive support and be the one receiving the insight. A lot of the time that is the only time my parents really want to listen to what I have to say tbh

When I try to talk to them they either try to find something to argue with, or they cut me off, or they just act as though I didn't say anything and talk about a totally different thing. But when I am talking about something like I did not get the job I applied for or something embarrassing happened that I got ridiculed for at work they show interest and bring up their own experiences. They are more compassionate also when I speak of something like that or take what I say with seriousness they actually listen. The attention is rare but I remember it and am thankful and of course take their advice. It is hard to explain really.

I sort of am but for me it is to give advice and really evaluate their situation to devise a plausible solution. If I don't pay extra attention I could misinterpret and make situations worse. With positive news I see them smile and smile with them and say congrats but there is no real need I feel for extra attention to detail.
