You spell causes , cases too? You are a liberal if I ever have seen one, and I have seen many. Are you a member of the socialist Party of Ireland? Nothing racist about it. Now if you called it slanty eyes 19 , sure that would be.
Context is everything.. if a virus was named by a group of scientists sitting in a lab is different than if a virus was named to steer up hate and political agenda. And not everything is about partisan for God sake!
@Asker it already has a scientific name. Why make up a new except to stir up hatred? Majority of Chinese people had nothing to do with this disease not fair to incriminate all of them.
Exactly my original comment! Waste of time and resources debating something that was intended to be offensive for a virus that already has a name that will never be changed. All history and medical books will know it as SARS-CoV-2 aka COVID-19!
Yes where was you outrage when the anti-Trump media was "promoting hatred" for months. I guess its only racist if Trump does it. The media could say the N word and Leftist like you would give them a pass!
@Asker it depends on how you’re using the name. If you saying “Chinese” in a scientific sounding way then I think there’s no problem but most people use Chinese just to incite hatred against Chinese people. Can you give me an example where “Chinese virus” is scientific sounding and not used to incriminate Chinese people?
Coming from China and coming from Chinese people are two different things. Eggrolls comes from Chinese people. Coronavirus does not come from Chinese people...
@theChineseWASP That is like saying Spaghetti is not Italian, Nazis were not German, Tacos aren't Mexican. Also if you believe the official story a Chinese person ate a bat so he started the virus so it did come from a Chinese person.
@theChineseWASP It isn't racism to say that. I mean nobody is saying a racial slur about Chinese people just that the virus originated there I do not care for this PC nonsense everything is turned into some outrage over nothing.
Just the other day I was walking to a grocery store and a homeless man called me a Chink and told me to fuck off. I've been living in the US my entire life and yet I am targeted because of my ethnicity. Hate crimes against Asians are on the rise worldwide this is very much a concern to me.
Also I'm trying to say that there is a distinction between something coming from a country and something coming from a culture. Creating coronaviruses is not something intrinsic to Chinese culture or any culture... Also the source of this pandemic is more likely from Pangolins not bats directly. Bats are more commonly eaten in Indonesia. There is no official consensus yet on what animal exactly brought the coronavirus...
@theChineseWASP Well that guy was a complete jerkoff for saying that to you and I do not condone that. I don't actually even believe the official story of how the virus originated. I think Trump is definitely trolling people when he calls it the Chinese virus because it does cause division and all politicians want us divided. I just think people should not buy into the division like they do.
@theChineseWASP Of course not... “white people” is not a place or culture like “Chinese” If we called it “Scottish virus” or “London Plague” it wouldn’t be an issue.
It didn’t come from Chinese people. Calling it a “Chinese “ virus encourages hatred and discrimination. Just a few days ago i was walking to the grocery store and some homeless guy called me a chink. I had nothing to do with the virus starting up. Racism is being spread for no reason.
@theChineseWASP I call it COVID-19 myself. But guess what: it came from Wuhan, China so I personally don’t see a problem with someone calling it that. I’m terribly sorry that you or anyone has been abused because of it. That is sick and not who we should be. At the end of this terrible episode, the GOVERNMENT of the People’s Republic of China needs to be punished severely for their lies and distortions though.
1. Ebola 2. Spanish Flu 3. Zika 4. West Nile VIrus 5. Middle East Respitory Syndrome 6. Valley Fever 7. Malberg Virus 8. Japanese Encephalitis 9. German Measeles 10. Lassa fever
All of these and MORE refer to the origin of a disease! Also, for months the anti-Trump media has called it the Wuhan/Chinese virus. Where was all of your faux outrage then?
@genuinlysensitive the disease already has a scientific name why create a new one? People who advocate that are just trying to justify racism and hatred against Chinese people/East Asians.
Chinese government has banned certain practices like eating dogs and selling wildlife. Of course it is not a perfect solution but at least they are trying: www.cbsnews.com/.../
Spanish flu didn't originate in Spain. It got it's name as it affected Spain quite badly and unlike large parts of Europe who were aurpressing news during th war, it's news outlets were telling the world about their epidemic. That was a strain of influenza, would have had a scientific name. Its not denigrating to all Spanish people just because it's names after their country.
Not all diseases are named after where they started. SmallPox started in Egypt but we don’t call it Egyptian virus. If we did now Egyptian people might call it offensive just saying..
Many diseases including the Hong Kong Flu are named after their origins. The original name given by CHINESE doctors was the Wuhan Flu. It was the WHO controlled by the Chinese Communist Party that named it COVID! Not only that but the anti-Trump media for months called it the Wuhan/Chinese virus with ZERO outrage. I guess if you are anti-Trump you get a pass. Seems poltical...
Well I think it is racist. Just the other day I was walking to the store and a homeless man called me a Chink and told me to fuck off. Did I deserve that treatment? No I don't think so. Neither do plenty of other Asians who are attacked around the world. Calling it the "Chinese virus" is just feeding into discriminatory sentiments around the world and is unnecessary.
Not really. He’s just racist. Even if people don’t call it the Chinese virus, they would still act that way because they’re racist. I get called racial slurs too and plenty of other black people around the world, and even in China right now (I’m black btw); no one deserves it. That name is just not racist to me. When I think the Chinese virus, I don’t think “man I just hate Asians” or something like that; I think of where the virus originated from.
Just like Hong Kong Flu, Japanese Encephalitis, etc., are not racist Wuhan/Chinese virus isn't racist. In fact the media said it countless times before Trump said it and it magically became "racist".
@genuinlysensitive If rest of the world calls it Covid 19, why are Trump supporters hell bent on calling it Chinese virus. Why isn't SARS called Chinese virus? And again in video Wuhun virus what China called it first.

I call it the wuhan virus, since originally came from the wuhan market area.
But why it was okay to call the other disease Spanish flu?
It's not racist but it's politically motivated by right wing fascists to deflect blame from their cult leader trump.
Wow there are A LOT of "politically motivated by right wing fascists" in the media:
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
www.breitbart.com/.../
@genuinlysensitive wow, 53 times vs the million times trump fascists have used the term.
Small sampling, notice they used it UNTIL Trump said it, then they all in unison call him and his supporters racist. Way to project!
Yes, the reason we stopped referring to viruses this way is because it cases hatred.
I dont think I've ever met anyone who hates Spain because of the Spanish flu
Then you don't know your history.
I probably know more than you.
You spell causes , cases too? You are a liberal if I ever have seen one, and I have seen many. Are you a member of the socialist Party of Ireland? Nothing racist about it. Now if you called it slanty eyes 19 , sure that would be.
@888theGreat If you really wanna pick on typos here your use of commas is horrific and you're phrasing is uncomfortable to read.
I'm not liberal nor from Ireland, and I highly doubt you've never met a liberal. It is certainly racist for multiple reasons.
Trust me , a rock would know more.
No you don't

No.
It's only racist if you're a butthurt leftie
Is it racist to call a china rapist when he is a rapist.
The Chinese government referred to it as the CCP Virus. Chinese Communist Party.
Only if it is racist to call eggrolls Chinese food. It comes from China so of course it is not racist.
Coming from China and coming from Chinese people are two different things. Eggrolls comes from Chinese people. Coronavirus does not come from Chinese people...

Fuck no.
They created it by having shit health standards in that specific country.
Eating bat heads in soup, at least Ozzie gave us a song.
Diseases came from white people too but we don’t call them “white people” viruses...
@theChineseWASP Of course not... “white people” is not a place or culture like “Chinese”
If we called it “Scottish virus” or “London Plague” it wouldn’t be an issue.
You could argue that it’s still a valid way to name something if you’re really that serious about finding blame though.
People can call SmallPox “white people virus” if they’re serious enough on finding blame. Not scientific at all just hate mongering
@theChineseWASP White people didn’t make the virus by eating fucking bats.
Chinese people don’t eat bats it’s Indonesians. You’re just finding excuse to hate.
It came from China! How is it racist to say that?

Chinese government has banned certain practices like eating dogs and selling wildlife. Of course it is not a perfect solution but at least they are trying: www.cbsnews.com/.../
The American virus came about a time when we had better leadership.
It's not racist, it's just dumb.
It originated in China. Chinese virus is accurate.
Not all Chinese people should be incriminated. Plus it already has a scientific name.
Spanish flu didn't originate in Spain. It got it's name as it affected Spain quite badly and unlike large parts of Europe who were aurpressing news during th war, it's news outlets were telling the world about their epidemic. Nope. Just where it originated from.
No one in real life actually calls it "the Chinese virus".
I’ve actually heard it from my roommate, so people do call it that. Not racist tho
Well I think it is racist. Just the other day I was walking to the store and a homeless man called me a Chink and told me to fuck off. Did I deserve that treatment? No I don't think so. Well fine enough then I suppose. There are still better names though but I won’t keep pestering you about it anymore sorry.
It’s no problem. I respect your view though. No need to apologize; you did nothing wrong!
Not at all.
How is it not racist?
@theChineseWASP Lap it up ;p
you don't make sense.
@theChineseWASP Funny how the racist claims other people are racist, and then that they don't make sense, hahaha
I'm not the one who wrote this question. It was other people who called me a racial slur the other day not the other way around.
@theChineseWASP Maybe you didn't write it, but you're still a racist
Just like Hong Kong Flu, Japanese Encephalitis, etc., are not racist Wuhan/Chinese virus isn't racist. In fact the media said it countless times before Trump said it and it magically became "racist".

Where were you when the ati-Trump media for months called it the Wuhan/Chinese Virus?
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
www.breitbart.com/.../
Because of the implication, I'd say yes.
Another liberal speaks
@888theGreat Whatever you say, bud.
Well at least you are a smart liberal
Where was all of your outrage when the media did this for MONTHS?
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
www.breitbart.com/.../
@genuinlysensitive What, me?
Dumb considering it's American
Maybe you should tell the media that.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
www.breitbart.com/.../
Maybe you and the media should Google search Covid-19 North Carolina class 3 facility.
It was created by Americans in America and then taken to China.
But it comes from Chi-Nah.
It already has a scientific name.
Where was the outrage when the media called it the "Chinese" or "Wuhan" virus?
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
@genuinlysensitive If rest of the world calls it Covid 19, why are Trump supporters hell bent on calling it Chinese virus. Why isn't SARS called Chinese virus? And again in video Wuhun virus what China called it first.
The rest of the world does not. At least they didn't until Trump said it, then it "became" racist:
https://twitter.com/i/status/1238186498433966081
www.breitbart.com/.../
Why can't people with TDS accept facts?
@genuinlysensitive Replied to you in other post? Again breitbart Alt-right news. Secondly rest of the world does NOT!!
Breitbart:
-Right Trump was going to win
-Right Russia Gate was a hoax
-Right Kavanaugh was a hoax
-Right Ukriane gate was a hoax
-Right the media used "Chinese/Wuhan" Virus exposing the RAMPANT hypocracy of calling the President "racist".
-Right the 1% big tech firms were censorsing people they don't like
They have a WAY BETTER record than the anti-Trump media.
Is it racist to say German measles or Spanish flu?
