Is racism still a thing?

In the West? No. Even in the 90s and 2000s, it wasn't a thing in America. Aside from maybe super Southern backwards rural areas. I mean, I'm SO fucking sick of progressives trying to push this bullshit fucking narrative.
I'm black and grew up in the super-ghetto of Philly. I can get the whole not trusting cops thing (even now I don't trust cops), but to assume they're all racist? To assume in a post-Obama America, most of the fucking country is "racist?"
I can also get people being super insecure and weak-willed and wanting an easy cop-out to all their problems. I know the feeling. Even now, I hate being short because so many women have rejected me for it. The problem is, reality is rarely that "black and white." There's almost never a single issue to blame for most or all your problems, like "systemic racism." Especially in post-America and especially when the 90s and 2000s were super "diverse" organically in TV and movies without being "woke" or shitting on white people, men, or straight people. In my case, while my height may be a large source of my insecurity, it is not the one and only reason why I don't have the things I want. There are other reasons for that. So blaming all your problems on one thing is a cop-out.
The racism that has existed in the United States and Canada in the last thirty years, has been the intentional, super-bigoted racism coming from the radical left against white people. Isolated incidents like Treyvon Martin or George Floyd do not make "America racist" (not that I'm saying they even had racism, cause they likely didn't and we wouldn't even be talking about them if the victims were white).
I get the mainstream media loves to target insecure, low intelligence sheep in society as easy prey. But there has to be a point where you see the writing on the wall and realize you're being played for as a sucker. I saw this shit being instigated in 2015. Yet it's 2021 and we still got Americans, black or otherwise, thinking we live in a "racist" country. Nothing pisses me off more than willful ignorance and extreme victimhood mascarading (sp) as "empowerment." How can people claim to be "proud to be black" (not that I ever understood the "proud of something I was born as and didn't work to achieve" thing) while also constantly whining about how "dangerous" it is to be black in America, while ALSO being supported by the establishment in Washington, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley (even during Trump)? If America is "such a racist country," and all the establishment is on your side, then who the fuck do you have to blame for all your gripes, then? ... Oh, right. "White people." Cause it's easy and absolves you of literally any responsibility for your own life and successes in it. "Nope. Not my fault I never went to college or learned a trade or worked hard through life. It's just white people holding me back. That's it."
So is racism still a thing (in the West)? It WASN'T. But then far leftist snake pil salesmen like the three lesbian BLM founders and George Soros MADE it a thing. We call it "wokeness." In Asia, however? Racism has ALWAYS been a thing. Especially in China and the Middle East. Something dumbass SJW's never want to admit about some of the people they're constantly virtue signaling for. They hate you and the rest of the world, too. And China is going to destroy the West after we destroy each other.
Racism was present in the mid-1960's and LBJ- -it turned out- was in the vanguard of this type of self-serving behavior, while trying to APPEAR that he was helping the "n-----s" (his word, not mine) and yet really just building up minority voting blocs.
This is such an interesting topic.
On the one hand, I know for sure that many people who struggle, do so not because a racist system keeps them down. But because they were never handed down tools of success. Such as saving and managing money, investing, the economy, how to work at a job, how to move up, how to escape poverty. I personally believe that public schools should have a class, that starts in first grade and build every year till 12th, that teaches kids how to live when they venture out on their own. They need more than math and history for that lol.
And I've grown up in ghettos of all types. Your skin color does not matter. Poor people lack the skills and tools to escape. Whether white or black.
In that sense, I know it's a lie that racism is what causes inequality.
On the other hand, I see increasingly especially online, more and more racism especially against black folks. You got white supremacists popping up everywhere. And honestly i think the only reason they exist, is because those who disagree with the white privilege lie, have no choice but to fall into some kind of trap, and become racists themselves to explain the gap between blacks and whites.
Right now it's like the only debate is the system is racist, vs, the system is not racist, blacks are simply genetically inferior.
And so these two sides are just charging up energy for a giant explosion.
But the truth in my opinion is much more simple. As I said above. its about those things that breed success are only passed down to children in homes whose parents have those skills and can pass them down. Thoseskills are mostly concentrated in white and Asian groups.
But liberals cannot admit this fact. They must say that the system is unfair, otherwise their beliefs go down the tubes. Same with the racists. Both sides desperately clinging to ideology instead of searching for truth.
Sure, racism still exists. But it's far more nuanced than most want to admit.
Racism will never go away. Part of racism isn’t just the discrimination of one race over another but includes the differences between the races. For example, whenever you determine that a person is Asian, Mexican, black, Puerto Rican, British etc you are determining characteristics that are based on race. So we are ALL participating in racism!
The word “racism” is like the word “pervert”. Both words are just words that describe a concept. More importantly neither of these words have a negative meaning, however at some point we have associated them with other negative concepts or used them with negative emotional feelings. The words have been perverted to include negative concepts.
There isn’t anything wrong with racism just like there isn’t anything wrong with guns. It’s what we do with them and how we control ourselves knowing what damage they can do to others.
The looney tunes collection had a wonderful explanation included on their dvd. Whoopi Goldberg explains that they include all their cartoons even though some show depictions of other that are very racist. But to not include and more importantly acknowledge them is tantamount to saying or thinking they never existed at all. The moment we pervert our history and pretend it never happened is the moment we are destine to repeat it.
So don’t pretend you don’t take part in racism, because we all do. However acknowledge that you do and adjust your decisions to be based on who they are and not what they are.
🙂
Kinda funny... not funny "haha"... But funny.." Oh no"... my co workers and I were just discussing this the other day. And sad to say that yes Racisim is still very much a thing. However one of our senior staff members (60's) commented that yes it is still prevalent today... it has come a LONG way since his day, and every day we make improvements.
Its up to us as people... not just community and society... but as individual people to put a stop to it. Just by not laughing at a racist joke or doing a kind act for a person of a different culture or race from you. Not allowing your kids to use racist terms or make fun of accents. That is where most racism starts... and it's where we need to out an end.
If someone is being an Asshole... doesn't matter colour of skin... they are just as asshole. 😮🤪
Personality doesn't have a skin colour 😲🤯

“Racism” is the natural state of being. Our brains can only process so much information, and as such we have to be able to categorize information. The same process that tells you that a red stove is hot is what leads to racist beliefs. “I didn’t rob and murder someone, that person did. Why did they? What notable characteristics are there about that person so I can avoid being killed mused? Etc”.
that said, treating people as individuals is just and I believe that’s what our society should be based on, and I believe that by and large that’s what our society (in the west) is based on. In the US the only real color that matters is green. That’s why Asians and Jews are the most successful ethnic groups in the US.
Yes, and I think we desperately need to re-vamp our view of the history of Civil Rights. All too often we see it as a linear progression from the backwards attitude of the past towards a more egalitarian society. But here's the thing, even though there has been a lot of "racial progress", there's also been a lot of racist progress; in short when we implement reforms to combat racism, racism will re-tune its' approach to adapt to the new political climate. And if anyone thinks that this is all some abstract philosophical BS, lets take a very real example: the emancipation of slavery. Upon the passing of the 13th amendment, the planter class of the south could no longer abduct black people and force them to work. So what post-reconstruction lawmakers did was look at the arrest records and see which misdemeanor offenses were most often committed by African Americans and they turned those into felony charges. These "pig laws" (so named because theft of a pig which was more often committed by African Americans was made a felony charge while the theft of an item of similar monetary value would have been classified as a misdemeanor) caused the prison population of the South to be ~85% Black. This allowed the wealthy southerners to exploit a loophole in the 13th amendment which allowed forced labor to be used as a punishment for a crime. In other words, slavery didn't just go away, it adapted to the new political climate.
And most of this was done without laws that explicitly targeted black people (too all you Shapiro fanboys who buy into his crap about how you can't compare voter ID laws to the Jim Crow laws because they "don't explicitly target black people"; racism in the past was a lot less overt than most people are comfortable realizing). And here's some other examples of how racism adapts:
When literacy tests are outlawed, racists turn to voter ID laws.
When calling white proponents of Civil Rights 'white @#$$^! doesn't work racists say that they're the "real racists are the ones who think black people can't succeed without their help".
The fight against racism is more like an evolutionary arms race than a linear progression. Racism is a plague on humanity so it's time we started treating it like one.
Yes, very clearly so
However, I would argue contrary to the opinion of the mainstream media
Racism is nowhere near as prevalent as it once was...
We are a far more open and diverse society at this point in time
there will inevitably be struggles...
none the less, I think MOST people.. regardless of race.. are open and kind.
The issue today is the framing of the Racism issue
from the POV of the Media, its largely just Whites.. and id argue that isn't that case and this serves to do nothing but create chaos (which might ultimately be the point)
there is a major claim being made that ALL Whites are Racist, that its Innate
Which is a ridiculous concept... and it does nothing but create issues... and is VERY racist in itself? imagine if we were to say BLACKS were innately Racist.. or BLACKS were innately incapable of achieving high levels of education? WE would immediately accept that as racist.. YET those who claim to be fighting for Equality, ALSO argue that blacks are incapable of handing this issue... that they must be serviced in entertainment through tokenism... that they must be babied through education or they won't achieve... that they must be protected by the realities of the world (be it people accusing them of high crime rates, or demands of them being accountable, or critiques of cultural attitudes, or historical reality.. ETC) because they simply can't handle it unless they are serviced constantly?
THERE IS A REASON why Affirmative Action was considered racist... Yet it was pushed as a way to practice "equality"
from how I see it.. THAT Is true Racism..
IF ANYTHING... Anti-White sentiment is far more common than other issues in the West.
Not only is it openly pushed, but its also acceptable in most levels of society (from Education, to Politics, to Media.. etc)
While the most insignificant issue that is applicable to minorities can immediately be pushed as "White Racism"... even if its not the case
WHO is to say EVERY police shooting involving a black victim is due to racism? Not to mention it ignores that most people killed by police are White...
WHO is to say that poverty rates, or crime rates.. are ONLY due to White Supremacy... and not to things like cultural attitudes?
We live in a day and age where a Black man can kill an Asian woman, and it can be blamed on White people.
NONE THE LESS
I recognize that most of this is pushed by those who have power (or those who are largely removed from reality).
Sadly, its influenced many average every day people
its the true "AGREE WITH US OR BE EXILED" standard...
and its slowly being legalized in our educational system.. corporate world... and political system...
It is truly sad..
Ultimately, id argue all sides have their fair share of racists
BUT, that most people... White.. Black.. Asian.. etc are NOT.. Racist.
but people are easily manipulated..
and often times will join in on something if the mass is moving that way
or if they can be convinced that is for the good of mankind..
even if its not.
weve seen it plenty of times in history.
Racism will always exist, no matter what, and don’t kill me for saying this, but racism isn’t always bad, I live in a place where I see a black person once every other month, so when I do see a black person I always look and think it’s kinda weird, now I don’t like that I think that but that’s just how the brain works and how I will think till I move to a place that is different, but the fact I think that it’s weird to see a black person is racist, it isn’t KKK, but it is still racist, and most racism is just that, someone not being used to another race and accidentally treating them different, which is ok. It is bad when you have people hanging someone because of their race but not passively staring or something. And this goes against popular opinion but a lot of those cops out there shooting people of race (they shouldn’t be cops, but that’s not my point) they are shooting them because they are scared, most of those unjust shootings happen in gang prevalent areas, and they don’t want to murder but they are scared that this guy is gonna kill them, so they get trigger happy and shoot him when he resists arrest. Although not all of those cops are like that, some are just rotten, but there are always bad apples, how can you fix that? Well anyway I hope that all makes sense.
Of course there are people who are racists. And by the way they come in all colors. My ex was black and the racism we experienced from the black community was much worse than we experienced from the white community. Black people are not the only people who experience racism.
Tribalism is human nature. People will always be wary of other people who don't look like them. That's reality. Call it tribalism or call it racism, it has always and will always exist.
But what is NOT true is that America is a racist country. America is the LEAST racist country in the history of the human race. America has more racial and ethnic diversity in its population than any other country in the world. America INVENTED the concept of equal rights and EVERY American CITIZEN regardless of race has EXACTLY the same legal rights. That's a fact.
Are there some people that are racists and do bad things to people of other races? Of course there are. Again, that's part of human nature and it exists everywhere in the world. But no country on earth has done more to protect the rights of people of all races than the United States of America. And that's probably why there are more people of EVERY RACE who don't live in America but want to live in America and are waiting on the long line to immigrate to America.
America is the least racist country? WTF! It’s funny that someone with light colored skin would say that considering you suffer from this social disease known as “white privilege”.
The only way to combat racism is through education and empathy. And since America ranks 17th in education worldwide it seems unlikely that America is educating its population. Considering that America has never had a female head of state whereas other first world nations have, I think racism is thriving in America.
It makes no difference what my skin color is or what personal insults you attempt to smear me with. All that matters is the facts. And the facts are that the United States has more non-white people on line to immigrate here than any other country. But apparently you know better than they do what is good for them. Your position seems to be that they are too stupid to know for themselves that they are on line to go to a place where they will be met with racism.
And the United States also has more civil rights codified into law than any other country.
And minorities in the United States have a higher household income than they do in any other country in the world.
And the population of the United States is the most racially and ethnically diverse of any country in the world.
So irrelevant personal attacks and worn out political slogans aside, when you look at the facts, yes, The United States of America is the least racist country not only today, but in the history of the human race.
You must be joking. “The history of mankind”? WTF May I remind you there was this thing called slavery. Then after that there was segregation. During ww2 they put Asians in interment camps. America killed indigenous people for fun and took away the land that was rightfully theirs to begin with.
Let me put it this way: if America wasn’t racist there would be no need for civil rights laws. Duh.
And what I said wasn’t a smear. It was a fact. And I’m not saying people are too stupid, I’m saying they’re too lazy to think for themselves. They’re too lazy to open their eyes and look around at the world and see things beyond their own little world.
It’s pointless to talk to you but I wanted everyone to know just how stupid your argument is.
"May I remind you there was this thing called slavery."
May I remind you that slavery was practiced all over the world at the time it existed in the United States. In fact the only place it is still happening today on any significant scale is the place it was invented and among the people who invented it... the black population of Africa. They are the ones who started the slave trade and taught the world how to conduct the slavery industry.
America is where slavery came to die. America is the only county in history that fought a civil war to END slavery. And more Americans died in that war than any war in US history. Slavery ended in America 170 years ago. No one who is living in America today owned slaves here and no one living was a slave. As a matter of fact, the majority of the US population don't even have ancestors who lived here when there was slavery.
Yes it is, but what is think it’s worse is the casual racism.
it also is not one sided, there is I don’t think one ethnic group that can say they are not racist, possibly Eskimo’s, everyone else is very much so.
Since BLM started, it seems Colourism is now the new racism as well, it was something as a white guy I never even thought about.
but no, while still living near Birmingham last year, one neighbour has a go at another neighbour. He was from West Indies and she was from Kenya each of her paternal sides had been white. So she was not black enough to understand racism, again this blew my mind, as both would be targeted by usual English First fuckwits,
so yeah, it’s alive and well but not just black and white (pun partially intended).
It's only still a thing because People like you keep talking about Black and White.
Instead of following the dream from
Martin Luther King
Instead following the advice of
Morgan Freeman
When you keep talking about Black and White you keep it about Color. Martin wanted People be judged on the good or bad they did instead of their skin Color and Morgan said :" I will stop calling you a White guy and you will stop calling me a Black guy as soon as we stop doing that racism doesn't exist"
And too be honest the BLM riots have Just giving People a good reason for racism and I am the point that I say if someone ever calls me racist I gonna treat them like a racist would.
The narrative now is I am A White straight male in my 20's therefore I am no matter what I do there for I am : racist homophobic, transphobic and a rapist. Why not because I hate homo's or trans our Blacks no Just because I am a White straight male.
So yeah racism still exist but the big tables have really turned.
And as I said I am done with being called those names for no reason
Cause I am at the point I am. going to be racist when you call me racist
But I am Just an inch a way from raping someone that calls me a rapist cause If I allready am one without doing it I better can Just do it
While if you get called racist for the color of your skin or get called a rapist for being born male everyday and everywhere u will go crazy someday 🤷🏻♂️ not my fault not fixing that
You really never opened another app/site than this one?
The next n** that calls me racist is gonna end up in chains in my backyard cause that's what racists do
Racism is defined as the belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others. That is from dictionary. com.
Are there racist people in the world? Sure there are, there are all sorts of all types of people in the world. Some people are really evil, just like there are some really GOOD people.
Do I think America is racist in 2021? Not even a little. If you believe there is racism in this country, show me the evidence and I will help fight for change. Otherwise, we should be happy to live in the greatest country in the history of the world.
Yes unfortunately. Will it ever end. No. Most likely not. People have a tendency to dislike what is different for some reason. It's sort of a combination of being influenced or brainwashed by others and a kind of comparison of each other. As children it seems there isn't much of a care only friendship/companionship but without prior knowledge I've seen some children appear as if the other is an alien. Really the solution is to stop with all the descriptions beginning with white or black or Asian or hispanic. A man's a man and a woman is a woman. Funny with all the religious beliefs of the world and most all being in a positive and somewhat "good" perspective there remains so much hate. Shame.
What do you classify as racism?
The leftards have expanded the meaning of the term to an absurd degree, so that it includes published science, observable reality and personal choice.
Why?
Because the left wants blacks to have a chip on each shoulder and be consumed by a perception that they are being persecuted.
That makes you easier to manipulate and exploit.
The left are not your friends.
Look up how Lyndon Johnson’s (Democrat) Great Society destroyed black businesses and black families, led to the 70 per cent out-of-wedlock birth rate, caused the black crime problem and created black welfare queens.
I think anti-racist ideology has become the worst kind these days. Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/8YnSYvhSeyII believe in the "color-blind" way. Anti-racists would call that racist. I'm not saying I don't notice when someone is white, black, Asian, Hispanic. I'm saying it doesn't matter so much in choosing my friends or who I hire for a job. That is the true way to get along as I see it. But anti-racists these days applying critical theory have put race at the forefront of everything. And I don't see a path to getting along here.
Yes I live in the South and I've personally met plenty of actively and openly racist people, including a business owner I worked for that openly stated he would never hire a non-white person. (he used language that would get me banned on here). None of them ever faced any consequences for their behavior as far as I'm aware
As a white man, im so tired of it all, I grew up in a very diverse town. I don't know about any color... BUTTTTTTT every race has VERYYYY OBVIOUS predispositions... lol every race follows to their stereotype... everyone except "whites" because they are so diverse and mixed these days only the old nazis are considered true "white" ... either way, in my opinion its time to ditch these groups and gatherings promoting division, that includes BLM and all the WOKE karens... all it does is promote division.
I mean. I agree a little bit but for the “racial stereotypes” it’s more forced upon people by society and it’s easier to conform than to be different with a fear to be labeled as “white washed” or “are you even black?” Etc
It happens in different racial/ethnic groups but I’m using myself as an example. I’ve been around all types of people my entire life but because I have lighter skin and lack a blaccent people mistake me for being mixed or call me white washed. Because of this as I got older I didn’t “fit in with black people”
And usually with black people that go threw this they have two paths to chose. A) go full black kkk member and hate your race because of being ostracized or c) embrace the fact that black comes in all shades and categories.
I choose C. As for BLM, it’s doing their best to fight inequality. Not promote division.
I agree on the woke Karen’s though, they don’t take actual problems. They just tend to create problems
100% the problem, Just like you said.. . I've had a lot of black friends that can talk proper English to me, but they turn around and have that blaccent to all their black friends, but the whites are the "oppressors", all the while ethnic groups categorize themselves, until all sides of the coin stop giving a damn and trying to be different cuz some 5x grandpa killed otherwise. Shit happens. My ancestry is fur trapper and Indian, also Irish and German, it's so annoying, everyone can't be friends when their bickering
Um. Just because someone has a blaccent doesn’t mean they can’t speak “proper English” that’s pretty prejudice it’s just like every other accent. And people probably just don’t feel comfort speaking in a blaccent around you because of those views.
As I said, this has little or nothing to do with racism. It’s just about black culture as a whole. Nothing to do with white people. I’ve never heard of a black person complaining about a white person because of their blaccent?
I mean by "proper English" is the same the British and aussies speak, the same interpreted language taught across the globe. African americans tend to use street lingo, jargon and harsh slang that most people don't understand, or if they do, it takes a minute. Besides, can you honestly say that lingo sounds intelligent?
Blaccents have many variations and I’m not sure how you as a white person think you have a place in saying what a blaccent even is. As someone who was raised by immigrant parents with a thick Caribbean accent, I know that blaccents come in many different dialects and phrases.
All of which I guarantee is only seen as ghetto because it’s being done by a black person, which at this point I’m used to and don’t really care cause it’s way off topic.
it doesn't really affect me as much it is a thing. my motto is go around the people who like you or kill them with kindness.
and I have friends of all kinds or races indian , Asian ( i know same thing) white Hispanic black. so i try my best to put good energy into the world
Racism has grown more prevalent since the orange shitstain was president. He seemed to bring out the worst in people. It's always been with us since the first black person arrived on these shores. It has been with us since the first Italian, the first Asian, the first Mexican arrived. It won't go away until we begin to teach our children, from the day they are born, to be color blind.
To the downrates of this.. BIDEN IS STILL YOUR MOTHER FUCKING PRESIDENT!
As a white teen, I one hundred percent believe racism is still a thing but isn't as big of a deal as some make it out to be. I personally, make racist jokes and also have my personal opinions on certain races but I'm not full on klansman/white supremacist. While groups such as the KKK and White Supremacists are still active, their numbers are decreasing and nobody really cares about anything they do. Racism is and always will be a thing but it's gotten a lot better since the 1800s.
For sure. Nothing more laughable than when people try to tell you we’re past it. Other white people say racist things to me ALL THE TIME, so you live in the farthest corners of Bananaland if you think otherwise. Usually those are just the words of people who don’t like being called out for it.
Well first you have to define racism. Racism in its root meaning is when someone thinks that they are superior to another person simply because of their race or skin color. That being said, being black has nothing to do with whether racism still exists or not. I think regardless of what you look like, people can still be racist to you. Now do I believe that racism exists as prevalently as the media portrays it? Absolutely not! But yes racism still exists and can happen to anyone not only black people. I for one have never experienced racism in my life which goes to show that not every black person is "racially attacked" like the media likes to feed people with victim mentality. Racism is still a thing but does that mean I am not a free human being who has as many opportunities as everyone else? Nope.
Yeah it exists and I have repeatedly been a “victim” of racism because I’m a halfie but tbh I could care less. Like like why should I give a shit just because somebody has a stupid opinion of me because of my race?
Racism will always exist, it exists in basically every culture in every corner of the world. Anyone who's different will be discriminated against by someone at some time, it only takes 1 person. Any culture/skin color/ethnicity can be racist against another.
Unfortunately, this is largely human nature and will likely never disappear, despite how much we work and hope it will.
It's definitely a thing within the Democrat party. Any time a black person dares to stray off the Democrat plantation, the racist Democrats trash them.
Of course it is! Only racist people are not able to admit that we live in a racist world. And like I've said many times this is a problem that will only end when humans are no longer on Earth.
Oh yea finna get sum interesting answers asking that lol. This site is toxic and full of some of the worst racists
I don't think it's prevalent but it's still a thing, and it likely will be forever, if not for a very long time. If you had a few hundred people on the planet, it'd be feasible to completely eradicate it. But when you have billions of people you're bound to have plenty of bad apples. That being said, just because it is a thing doesn't mean it's a prevalent thing.
Well, I virtually never see anything remotely racist happen. And the few times in which I've had the opportunity to see a claim if racism and the entirety of the context that it regarded, the claim was almost always entirely unfounded or poorly founded.
Additionally, I can look to very reasonable, rationale people who happen to be people of color and view their perspective on how prevalent racism is. And the people who's perspectives I trust tend to say that racism isn't prevalent. It exists, certainly, but it's not prevalent, according to them.
Well if you are white than of course you aren’t going to experience racist things?
You might experience ignorance here and there but that’s about it. And the people “who you trust” are pretty biased. especially if you are only looking at certain perspectives to validate your own beliefs instead of looking at people who might have perspectives that challenge your beliefs
I've experienced a good portion of racism towards white people, but I know that's not the type of racism we're talking about.
And I didn't state "I haven't experienced racist things, thus, racism isn't prevalent." I stated that I rarely see it occur, and if it was prevalent, it would be something I see occuring more often. I also stated that the rare times I do see such a claim, it is illegitimate.
And based on what do you know the people I trust are biased? It seems like you're making a claim void of almost literally everything. The only thing you know about those people is that they think racism isn't prevalent, and based of that alone you can somehow know for certainty that they are biased? And even if you could somehow know that for certain, what exactly are they based against? That seems like a very odd claim.
And I did not state that I looked only at their perspectives. I did not search for these people in hopes of validating a conclusion I had already drawn. They just happened to be reasonable people who did agree with me. And I've had plenty of conversations with people with different perspectives (as we are doing right now), I'm not sure based on what you'd assume otherwise. They've just never convinced me of their perspective.
Certainly.
Here's someone saying that white feelings don't matter and that white lives don't matter:
https://youtu.be/yxE4MHt2P08
Here's an example of race-based medicine giving access to medical procedures as long as the person isn't white.
patriotdailypress.org/.../
Or when #KillAllWhiteMen was trending on Twitter.
www.newsweek.com/twitter-hashtag-killallwhitemen-sparks-firestorm-335310
Affirmative action, for example, was racist towards white people (and men).
And these are just examples I can get with a quick, simple Google search. There have been many, many worse occurrences that I'd have to dig for. And these don't include personal experiences that I've had but simply didn't collected evidence of. That being being, don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to state that I'm a serious victim of anything. Racism towards white people, while becoming more and more common, is still very uncommon.
I asked for how you as a white person have experienced racism? None of these have personally effected you.
All of these you had to google search, none of these effect you.
And as for medical racism, the health care system I could talk about how that actually effects poc but that’d definitely go over GAGs limit and I just don’t have the time for that currently.
As for the kill all white men tag, it was a joke. And white men aren’t being oppressed in any way by a Twitter hashtag being popular.
The entire hashtag consisted of jokes, it was meant to be satire.
So if you saw someone on the internet saying "black people are criminals," you wouldn't say that you are experiencing racism?
And they all affect society in subtle ways, if not more. For example, I'm sure this race-based medicine wouldn't have come about without the anti-white rhetoric. But again, I wasn't claiming "I've been severely disadvantaged due to my experience with racism towards white people." So yeah, none of those examples have truly hindered me in any way. And I can't provide proof of personal (though very rare) experiences I've had with racism. I may have some screenshots but I'd have to dig through thousands of other photos or files.
As for the Twitter hashtag, I'll take your word for it, but I'm sure you and I both know I could Google countless other instances that weren't coincidentally, and allegedly, jokes. Additionally, I wonder how accepting of jokes and satire you'd be if the hashtag was "#KillAllBlackMen"
Lastly, just because I can't provide proof of my personal experiences with racism doesn't mean it isn't real. I noticed you didn't comment on affirmative action, literal institutionalized/systemic racism. Additionally, we could talk about Harvard and other universities applying different entrance requirements based on race. Just because I didn't go to these places, and thus was not subjected to their racism, doesn't mean the racism wasn't there. So just asking for my own experiences (of which people rarely wall around with a camera filming their surroundings, or somehow recording their conversations) isn't going to give you an accurate picture. I'm not asking you to just trust me that they're real, I'm pointing you to real-world ordeals, like affirmative action, racist entrance requirements for universities, race-based medical opportunities, etc.
Affirmative action hurts poc more than “white people” I didn’t comment on it because countless white people that don’t do their research have actually used this many times as an example of how white people are being oppressed and I don’t feel like writing a paragraph and explaining that all over again.
So to make things short, colleges are greedy and money hungry and because of that your social/economic class contributes way more than race ever could.
Affirmative action places poc in schools where they otherwise aren’t qualified for, and what does that do? That’s increases the college drop out rate for poc. Therefore poc aren’t benefiting at all anyways.
If colleges wanted more diversity than they would get more diversity if they made entrance exam fees cheaper as well as tuition.
As for you mentioning #KillAllBlackMan, not sure why you had to drag black men into this.
And if I saw something that said black people are criminals, I’d think it was racist but not really a personal experience with racism since it’s directed at me because of my race but no ones saying it to my face. If that makes sense.
I’m also not convinced that America is “anti-white”. I could include actual data on the racist history of medicine and how black people are more likely to receive lower dosages of pain relief meds just because of the harmful and completely incorrect narrative that black people have thicker skin. Or the fact that Due to residential segregation, majority African-American and Hispanic areas are more likely to lack hospitals and other health care providers.
When health care providers are located within majority African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods, they tend to offer lower-quality care.31 Often, people of color find themselves relying heavily on community health centers, emergency rooms or outpatient care, and community-based providers due to the lack of available primary care and mental health providers in a given geographic area.
Yes, I'm familiar with the idea behind unqualified placement and the inclinations towards failure. This, however, doesn't make it not racist, it just makes it a bad idea.
If the college has a racial preference for admission, racism has occurred independent of how well that student does. The white person was still denied admission due to their race. So when you say it "hurts people of color more than white people," that doesn't refute the notion that affirmative action is racist. So this is indisputably oppression of white people. Not to state that it does or doesn't exceed the overall oppression of others, but it is still oppression none the less.
(Response continued below)
And I'm using #KillAllBlackMen as an example of your likely bias, of which you 'coincidentally' didn't address. You mention me bringing black men into it, but don't acknowledge the statement that I used to do so? Due to this avoidance of yours, it seems like I may have been right. If Twitter had satirically joked by making "#KillAllBlackMen" trend on twitter, would you have described it as "a hashtag consisting of jokes, just meant to be satire" or would you say something along the lines of it being wrong, messed up, out of line, inappropriate, condemnable, or unacceptable? I get the feeling that you'd describe it as the latter well before the former. Because, and I truly am sorry to say this (I mean no offense, I just have to be honest and realistic), you're likely biased. I don't think you'd react the same way to "#KillAllBlackMen" as you would with "#KillAllWhiteMen."
And yes, I see what you mean about people saying something to your face. But you don't seem to be directly answering my question. I asked you "if you saw someone on the internet saying 'black people are criminals,' you wouldn't say that you are experiencing racism?" I get the feeling that the reason you didn't directly answer my question is because the answer would have been "yes, if I saw someone online saying 'black people are criminals,' I would consider myself to be experiencing racism" which would invalidate your stance that my mention of racism online doesn't sufficiently address your question of "I asked for how you as a white person have experienced racism?"
(Response continued below)
As for your comment "I’m also not convinced that America is 'anti-white'," that's not what I said. I said that there has been anti-white rhetoric. I did not state a majority of America is employing this rhetoric. It's a very small portion of people.
As for the history of medicine and people allegedly giving black people lesser doses of medicine, I'd like to see that. Because I am guessing that those cases are HISTORY, not contemporary. I simply can't imagine doctors nowadays thinking "ehh, they're black and tough, they don't need as much medicine as other races."
As for the residential segregation, people aren't saying "well those communities are Hispanic and black, so let's not put a hospital there." Unfortunately many black and Hispanic communities don't live in wealthy areas, thus, hospitals and other expensive services won't be as abundant or thorough. So it's not racism, it's misfortune.
As for the health care providers offering lower-quality care, again, this is due to the economic state of those areas. Those healthcare providers provide based on tax-income or whatever that person's job pays for their healthcare. And when these people live in bad areas, there's not a large amount of tax dollars coming in, and if they don't have a really nice job, their job isn't paying a lot of money for their healthcare. This goes the same for any white person living there or the same for any white person who has the same job. It's not racism, it's misfortune.
At GaG, it is always been weird. You got posters that believe in insane batshit crazy fruitcake nonsense.
But they don't think that their beliefs are widely accepted.
:D
I'm an Asian too and people still make fun of my looks, my race, like it's funny. It's not my fault to be Japanese, to be Asian, to have small eyes. Everyone excludes what is different from them. I was going to school in America for a while as a kid. I was the only Asian in the class and they always excluded me. Even though I know I shouldn't be sad about it, I still feel sorry and cry sometimes.
Definitely. This is the entire reason for the Black Lives Matter movement.
I hear about hate crimes all over my community as well as US nation wide. For example George Floyd.
The only reason it's lasted this long is because people keep it alive by keeping it relevant.
People like the one holding the sign in your picture and also the few who are genuinely racist as well.
Of course it is. The concept of colonialism dates back centuries. It’s this feeling of superiority and power through someone’s skin colour. It’s a stupid thing, we all die one day so how is that powerful. We are human being, I don’t want to feel like I’m better then an entire race or nationality.
Scary how someone disliked this. Wish Gag let you see how liked and disliked posts so I could go on a block spree
It’s ok I’m used to it now. There was a guy who said he hates all Muslims and Jews because he’s scared they will attack him. I said dude how many Muslims have shot you? He said zero, I said so why the hate. This level of hate comes from a reasons — what you are born to believe (even if it’s lies) and the media, and even friends who shape another individuals views as well.
This guy was also on GAG who said that, I won’t call him out or post his profile, but I just ignored him after. I can’t deal with people who are ignorant, it just raises your blood pressure.
Yeah, GAG is wild. I’m not sure the mods on here even care cause I saw a person with a white supremacist pfp and I reported them but their still here and many other people with questionable beliefs
They don’t care. I asked GAG on their Instagram why do they support that type of behaviour and they removed my comment on their IG page. I shouldn’t even be using this site tbh.
Oh my god, same. I’m honestly just on here for the drama. Not to mention all the pedos on this app that they continue to support for some reason
I'm white, and unfortunately, racism is definitely a real thing. Not that everybody is racist, but racism is very present in our society.
Yep, only it was once a matter of hatred towards another race.
Today, it's a convenient construct aimed at making certain races get away with everything.
The word still exists. The actual function of said word changed immensely.
Of course it is. But it's much, much, MUCH less of a thing than it was 5, 10, 20, 40 years ago. It's been going down pretty consistently for decades now. What's bizarre is that people seem to be behaving as though it's gotten worse. That's just 110% wrong.
IT WILL ALWAYS BE A THING.
It's a fundamental part of human nature that is an unfortunate side effect of an evolved survival instinct related to the unknown.
A baby starts crying at when it experiences fear and fear arises from the unknown.
Racism - and ALL bigotries - come from the brain needing to avoid fear... fear of the unknown. When people, young or old, are inexperienced, they are filled with unknowns and this can instill fear. They have 3 options:
Option 1. They can accept that fear and accept, for now, that they do not know.
Option 2. They can get some courage and get the necessary experience to transform the unknown into the known.
Option 3. OR, they can go the cheap way... not bother getting the experience first-hand, but get the knowledge from "authorities" - people who allegedly have that experience with the unknown that, to them, isn't unknown but "known".
I put those words in quotes because, often, these "authorities" and their "knowledge" isn't from experience, but handed down to them for equally inexperienced earlier generations.
For example, look at all the religions!
One fear we all have is what happens to us after we die. No one - and that includes scientists, atheists, and anyone else - really knows because no one has actually ever come back from the dead and reported to us about it.
Well, our brains will melt if we dwell on this. For some people, like me, I chose Option 1 above: I accept that I will not know while I am alive. Option 2 will kick in when I am dead. But, for a lot of people, they can't handle Option 1 and want to avoid Option 2 just like me. So, instead, they go with Option 3... they pick up some religion, often handed down by their parents, and accept as truth whatever comes after death that their religion tells them is the "truth".
Understand?
Option 3 is all about having pre-conceived notions about the "truth" of what is really unknown without actually having the experience to eliminate the unknown. They get rid of this brain-addling fear by accepting a "truth" that may or may not be so.
=========
So, how does this apply to racism or other ethnic bigotries?
Well, there are two kinds of people in the world: Us and Them.
"Us" are the people we know about and are comfortable with. We can predict the behaviors of people who are part of the Us group. But, the Them group contains people that we are not sure about because we don't know much about Them. They make us nervous. So, we have 3 options:
1. Accept not knowing about Them.
2. Get to know Them... that will transform Them into Us.
3. Avoid getting to know Them, but accept as "truth" what we are told about Them from other members of Us. >>>>>>>>> This is bigotry and racism.
Yes, you are correct. Babies aren't born racist, but they are born with fear of the unknown. So, if their elders go with Option 3 and pass that along to the children, unfortunately many of those children will keep going with Option 3 and never even bother with Option 2.
It's only when people get to know each other - that is, practice Option 2 - that racism and bigotries begin to erode because the ignorance or false "truths" give way to actual experience and truths. That eliminates the fear and eliminates the bigotries.
Yeah its still a thing. I honestly think things such as racism, sexism, colorism, and every other favoritism based on your external and even internal factors will always exist at least for the foreseeable future.
Definitely is. Also the amount of racists that this post brought out is saddening.
yes, it still is. I work as a extra at the background movies and tv shows and I see only a couple of Asians in every movies.
of course it does.
you can't just end racism it's impossible.
we have to bicker over something.
everyone is it's normal, some are better at hiding it then others. these protest are pointless it's not going to change a damn thing.
you don't even have to hate to be racist some things can just annoy you about a certain race. doesn't mean you hate their race
It still exists but it will wax and wane, personally I think we should just outlaw races and say we are all the human race.
I've seen it happen to all races too, natives, whites, blacks, Asians and more.
It is still a thing and likely won't stop being a thing for decades to come. But it is not as pervasive as often claimed. Cancer is a thing but it doesn't mean everyone has cancer.
Yes, but a certain amount of hostile racism has been replaced by paternalistic racism. Some hostile racism does still exist too, although there's far less of it.
Without a doubt. I've seen it happen to others and I've experienced it myself and I'm mostly white. Still had someone call my family a racial slur because I'm part Asian.
Yes, but I think generally the average person isn't racist, and racism only exists in small pockets... At least in the US.
Yes! I live in a very multicultural part of London and whenever white people speak it’s always hate about immigrants etc.
Even on Twitter I’ve received abuse just because my boyfriend isn’t white
I think it's pretty normal to be afraid of people that do not look like you and/or your family, it comes from the time of creation, wars, raids... and now it's time to Get Over It... it requires going against our natural instincts... and we MUST
It’s not a natural instinct to be racist. When I was younger I was friends with this Indian girl that lived in the apartment across from mine and we suddenly stopped hanging out and I didn’t know why but later on my mom had told me it’s because their family was prejudice and didn’t want their daughter hanging around me because I was black.
Racism is a taught concept, not human nature
Racism did always exist and will always exist. You can try to reduce it. But thinking you can get rid of it altogether is delusional.
Do you see a difference between stating the existence of a thing and defending that thing? There's always gonna be murderers thieves, child molesters and frauds... You think i defend all that cause i acknowledge that it exists?
remember how i said exactly that in my initial comment "You can try to reduce it". i didn't act as if i said something "revelationary". i just coldly stated the facts. i wasn't gonna start a revolution with that xD
Unfortunately it is but I believe new generations are more aware of it and it's not "cool" to be a racist anymore. I hope racism becomes extinct in a few years from now.
You should already know what these people on here think. And if you don't, take a look at older questions that are similar.
And it's all Spiraling to Jim Crow+. @doopayo How would you react to Segregation 2.0 if it was brought to you by BLM? Other than that this day and age, Racism is proving to be quite profitable.
That there been a return to the notion of Segregation in recent years.

If the black community is to ever be rid of themselves of the malevolent specter of White Supremacy, they most commit whole heatedly to ethnic cleansing. The only way to end Racism is through ethnic cleansing. And the best way to Cleanse an Ethnicity is to kill their young. A really straight forward solution to a pervasive problem. Agree?
@doopayo Here's the point Kid. Your putting racism where Misanthropy would be the more appropriate label. Every self righteous White College Kid can easily say that they would Die for the Likes of BLM. Narcissist love nothing more than to Die a Martyr, It's an Easy way to become that beautiful symbol that they know they are.
However, real progress is written in blood; and how many are there who are willing to kill for the cause? Your Standard white girl narcissist would never consider this, they would never risk there image being twisted into a monster. It's easy and effortless to say that you would die for the cause, and with that the whole movement becomes domesticated and easily controlled. To kill for a just cause and you stand to get some actual change, but few activist are willing to become a monster in the eyes of the public. Revolutions are won by remorseless killers, not by domesticated martyrs.
@doopayo Your "peaceful protest" only serve to placate the oppressed masses and raise political capital at no real expense to those that fund BLM. There is no bloodless revolution and BLM is nothing more than a pressure release valve. It's absolutely pathetic that no one came to the conclusion of merely following those cops home and leaving them a message. A toothless movement that only serves to attract media attention and nothing more.
@doopayo A bunch of Homemade SMG and Pipe bombs would get the powers that be running scared. With the thought that death could come at any moment in the form of a Car Bomb many would cave to BLM's demands. A Real Revolution gets real results, just look at the Bolsheviks and the IRA.
Yes, because the far left is keeping it alive and active.
there are very few in US. It is just another liberal crisis to get votes, like Covid, global warming, education, over population, and eating meat.
one person in 200, like virus deaths. Another fraud crisis
I learned not to make mountains out of mole hills. This was a nothing burger made out to be the plaque.
19 working on 20.
Yes but I'd say nowhere near as much as people say it is. Realistically, racism will always exist because there will always be individuals who will form prejudices whether on their own by bad personal experience or from others.
Ofc it is. Racism is always going to be here no matter what...
Racism is something that's never going to die out, as long as human beings exist there are going to be some of them who are going to hate other people based on the color of their skin, culture, etc.
Yes it does exist. We live in a fallen world and people are judgmental on a lot of things and some believe ancestry explains who that person and what they can accomplish.
Yes racism is 100% around active in every race it’s not going anywhere hate to say it
You can't control others.
All you can do is treat others how you want to be treated and raise your kids to do the same.
No, racism officially ended in 1969 according to Fox News and conservatives everywhere.
slavery ended and i'm not saying i agree with the left but racism still exists because it is a mental thing. Racism is thinking oneself more superior than another just because of their race. it could swing anyway. anyone can have a racist mindset, it isn't just white against black. Black people can be racist too
Yes, but it's not as bad as the left makes it out to be.
Funny you say that as a white male. I’m sure you’ve experienced first hand numerous counts of micro aggressions.
Biggest problem is the government. They treat minorities with privilige like in my country where about half of gipsy families live fully on welfare.
@maynatalia135 Yeah, I know it's hilarious.
you will never know first hand what minorities in this country go through. you have no say on this topic.
Your logic > Food critic shouldn't rate food because he isn't chef.
Stop being a whiny snowflake
@maynatalia135 No, That's where you're wrong. Once I'm really old whites will be the minority and then I can play the victim.
@David_Bayer what she’s saying is that you can’t fully grasp what it’s like to live in America as a poc because you aren’t a never will be a poc. That’s all she’s trying to say.
Sure I understand but just because you are not a minority doesn't mean you don't see situation around you
Sure I'm not here to argue. Have a nice day y'all
It is, and always has been. But it comes more and more, if not mainly, from people who are said that they can't be racist. A sort of allowed and accepted racism that you can't name.
Racism is still a thing. Blacks, Whites, and all others. Racism is everywhere.
