Coronavirus coming from Wuhan lab becoming more and more probable, yet not too long ago it was a “conspiracy theory.” Thoughts?

As time goes on, more and more people are discovering facts and information that leads one to believing that the coronavirus DID in fact start off and come from a lab.

Not long ago, you would’ve been considered a conspiracy theorist and Pro-Trump individual for believing in such a thing.

Let me explain something in a non-partisan way if I can.

The right and left don't trust each other. That's a given. The left is very used to the right lying about things. The right is very used to hurling accusations with no merit. Sorry, but it's true.

When the original accusations came out, they were dismissed for a couple of reasons.
1) lack of evidence. 2) the right-wing propensity (under Trump) to hurl accusations without merit BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY 3) the genetic make up of the virus did not show the tell-tale traces of genetic engineering/design 4) the virus did show a number of factors which indicated evolution across several species. And in laymans terms - if you were going to design the virus or weaponise an existing one, you wouldn't bother inserting evolutionary dead-ends to show how it crossed species barriers. In other words, you'd start closer to your end point.

In addition to this, Fauci said clearly and categorically that there was no gain-a-function research being done at Wuhan. He tried to use specific lawyerly type weasel words presumably so he could later claim that he didn't technically lie. But fuck him, he lied.

For the lay-man, think of gain-a-function research as turbo-charging evolution to see what a virus might end-up-looking-like years down the line, so you can prepare for a future pandemic.

It turns out now that Wuhan WAS doing gain-a-function research. The American Government knew this, and they had funded it. But the Wuhan lab did not have the best reputation as a biohazard 4 hazmat lab, and mistakes could have been made.

The fact that the virus was created by gain-a-function research, is not really in doubt any more. Statements have been made to the effect of "It's not really gain-a-function because we didn't make it more lethal, we just increased it's communicability". Sorry, that counts. So fuck you, it was gain a function research. So that answers points 3 and 4. It also counts as evidence, which eliminates point 1.

So the people on the Left who refuse to acknowledge the facts on the ground now, are doing so purely because they prefer a world where the Right wing does all the lying, and the Left wing have their little angelic hands clean and are always brutally honest and upright. But that world ain't this world.

Plenty of people on the political Left owe some people on the Right an apology. A whopping great big apology.

I can understand where the voices on the Left were coming from - it was unthinkable that they would be lied to by one of their own, the supposed "good" guys. And under Trump they had gotten used to hearing daily accusations from the Right with no merit behind them. I get that. I do.

But the facts on the ground are what they are - denying reality is a ridiculous thing to do, regardless of your political beliefs.

Many of those statements were made with the available information at the time, and he later changed his statement or opinion based on new information or data that became pertinent. There's also going to be some data that is classified and that while he makes decisions based on that data, he cannot elaborate on how he came to that decision.

If you took the time to read the article I posted, then you realize that the "gain-a-function" terminology can have different meanings depending on how (and in what country) that it's applied. I believe the article states that the lab worked only with naturally evolving viruses that mutate between animals and humans, and not creating genetic 'possibilities' that could never evolve without human intervention. The CDC works with scientists and labs around the world, and none of them are interested in wiping out humanity as the talking heads like tucker carlson are screaming about. He cares about ratings and nothing else. So many others do too.

When I see him speak publicly I wonder to myself this is who y'all picked to represent us. Really. He's so frail and stumbles speaking. I've read in a few articles that he might have dementia I don't know what to believe anymore I stopped buying a lot of products to stop supporting it like Pepsi coke etc. I buy locally as much as I can
