I agree with some of the other posters. There HAS to be more to this. It probably has something to do with Critical Race Theory. American schools already teach an inaccurate history of slavery, and this sounds like more "White man bad" bullshit. I doubt they're trying to erase the teaching of the contribution of slavery, but rather the way slavery is taught. I'd like to see the actual bill.
“We have successfully frozen their brand—'critical race theory’—into the public conversation and are steadily driving up negative perceptions. We will eventually turn it toxic, as we put all of the various cultural insanities under that brand category,” Rufo wrote. “The goal is to have the public read something crazy in the newspaper and immediately think 'critical race theory.’ We have decodified the term and will recodify it to annex the entire range of cultural constructions that are unpopular with Americans.” Christopher Rufo
In other words, Republicans are lying about what it really meant, in order to demonise uncontroversial things.
Maybe its something to do with the current POTUS? He could try to stop it right? My thoughts on this they are free to do as they please, and that out of the equality BLM supporters claim to want they either also are ok with this or they are true enemies of anyone who ever used similar arguments to shut up people who were anti BLM
And there are 6x as many people around today as in 1870, when there were 4 million slaves just in the southern US, compared to 12-29 million worldwide today.
I'm arguing that if I can be held accountable for Democrat slavery in the past then blacks can be held accountable for African slavery today. They don't even say anything about all those poor slaves.
By African slavery you mean indented servants and war criminals? Cause that’s what the majority of African slaves where, I’m not even talking about that specifically to begin with and I never asked nor do I care about your opinions on slavery and not wanting to feel victimized
Microcosm or macrocosm... the result is the same. Generally, coloreds and women are hypocrites the world over and across time. Report me, like your kind always eventually do. 🦒🍆🇺🇸🎲

Yes the Far-Right Radical Republicans are trying to erase history it's not fair to the minorities we all know that Joe Biden was sent to save America before it goes to pot and believe it or not Republican's have supported Joe Biden
This is not the place for this. I like this site because most people are nice and supportive. if you really want to know what the other side of the aisle thinks watch a Ben Shapiro video. Please if anyone else wants to respond to this post in negative way please don’t engage. It will only lead to hate. Just ignore please please please.
Last time I checked, you weren’t the one who decides that. I asked this question and if you don’t want to add anything to the conversation than you don’t have to comment. I’m not hating on anyone, since when did asking a question equal hate
@goaded this is very based, thanks for adding. Ben Shapiro is very smart but when it comes to politics he has a cognitive bias since he was raised conservative. He tries to act like he looks for all positions and arguments but he doesn’t. Instead he’s mastered the art of straw maning and “owning libtard” college students
Shapiro uses a "technique" you see a lot on here: Take something "the other" suggest, usually a minor modification to existing laws (e. g. gun background checks, mail-in voting, abortion, teaching the history of slavery), and claim they want some insanely distorted version of that (e. g. take away all the guns, have illegal immigrants vote 16 times each, be allowed to kill your child if you don't like the way it came out, teaching that all white people are evil; I exaggerate, a little).
We don't need CRT, we were already being taught slavery and Jim Crow and how horrible they were and that it was good that we stopped it. What more do we need?
I never mentioned anything about critical race theory, I also don’t understand what’s the hate for with critical race theory. It just teaches about intersectionality and how it correlates with race, class, and etc. but this is about them wanting to limit America’s history at the end of the day
My mistake, CRT is usually what the left refers to when they say that the right is "erasing history".
But why do we need intersectionality though? If you want those groups to get along, shouldn't you be telling kids that the world doesn't revolve around what immutable characteristic they possess instead of saying that it does? I'd imagine that would do quite a lot more damage to discrimination of those groups than constantly drawing attention to the fact that they exist?
We need intersectionality because Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression and we must consider everything and anything that can marginalise people – gender, race, class, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.
Intersectionality provides a lens through which we as a whole can finally have the ability to examine the processes, practices, policies, and structures that increase the risk of anyone’s disadvantage or discrimination because of their intersecting identities.
Stuff such as racism/classism/sexism/ableism/etc are stuff that should be addressed and people should be educated about in order for a more progressive hopeful future. In fact, not having a basic understanding of intersectionality actually limits a lot of meaningful conversations/debates as most people never sit to think about anything threw an intersectional viewpoint.
Most of these stuff exist in the first place because of lack of education/ignorance in the first place. If the younger generation is aware and educated that theses types of thing exist than we will have less ignorant kids. As well as the possible outcome of these issues being improved
Isn't institutional discrimination illegal? If someone's doing that to you, what's stopping you from calling them out or reporting it to the police? These institutions legally aren't allowed to retaliate when you do this too.
The only thing left is just some random morons on the internet say racial obscenities to you
@williamstorm3 did we not fight a war, the ultimate result of which, intended or not, was the ending of slavery? And was the victor not the Union, which thrived mainly on industry?
Holdon a minute dont credit yourself we werent there. And yes, we did. But that was considered an edgy rebellion against traditional American values... we actually had to FIGHT a CIVIL WAR to get rid of slavery. How can in not be any more central than that?
Also, how do you know thats the reason we fought the war? I'm sure many wanted to just fight the war for other reasons, but they just went with what Abraham Lincoln wanted. And need I remind you, Abraham didn't really want to give blacks full citizenship and freedom and respect until after the war ended. And after the war ended, and they got there 13th and 14th amendment, there was a lot of pushback. And there was 100 years of Jim Crow and segregation. Black people continued to be dehumanized and systematically oppressed.
@williamstorm3 first of all, and I should have opened with this, where do you get the idea that slavery kept America going? Slavery has been illegal in the US since the end of said Civil War and we did and continue to do just fine without it.
And I don't know that's why we fought the war. That's why I said "intended or not", because some people say it was about states' rights and others say slavery.
I didn't say slavery kept going just other forms of persecution. and id say going to jail for a crime you didn't commit or being a underpaid housemaid or being a underpaid disrsepected janitor is a form of slavery. and that conitnued for black people well into the 50s.
@williamstorm3 It was literally more than half of the message I was responding to. Do I have to answer every point you make before I can point out disinformation?
The African slave trade was stopped by the British from 1807, decades before the US civil war. Southern politicians were Democrats until Democrats fought for civil rights, now they're generally Republicans.
@goaded The whol civi rights movement was orchstrated by the KGB to bring down america, civil right and black lives matter? Why not human rights and black lives are valubale? Yeah its a trickby the elite
It’s simple really the want to be able to be a proud American without any guilt so they only want history painting America in a good light to be taught.
You don’t just get to choose specific parts you like, and erase parts of history you don’t like just because it hurts your nationalist identity. If you were actually a proud American than you would acknowledge the many atrocities that happened in American history instead of trying to erase it. Embrace it so that change can happen
I agree but most of the people that are blind self proclaimed patriots don’t like to think about the history that doesn’t make America look like the “greatest country on earth”
your version of history is pure hatred. You want to rewrite history to paint all whites aa guilty for your races inadequacies and inabilities to succeed
That’s literally erasing history. There’s no way you can paint slavery/colonization/oppression in a good light just because you feel like it. Shit like that is exactly why neo nazis exist, people exist that think the holocaust was staged. Why would you ever lie about the scale of history
Was I talking to you? No. I was talking to Mr "history is written by the victors" ignoramus here. And don't try to be slick, it's obvious where you're aligned.
That doesn’t matter, they never mentioned their political position you’re just choosing to be ignorant and showing how you’re unable to process different ideas because of your cognitive bias.
I’m not affiliated with a political party, having progressive beliefs doesn’t change that but ok man. The worlds not black and white 😂
Democrats back then are what republicans are today. You have no right to speak as you are what remains of the old democratic party. And your conspiracies will not be taken seriously. America has abandoned you. ;)
@doopayo Don't mind the sadass named @celtero His problem is he's one of those people who will automatically label you a leftist terrorist and an enemy of the state if you simply disagree with their political views. Lemme fuck with this kid for a minute, see if his tears can power the dams in Cali. 😂
@Celtero Oh yeah, I ain't no democrat. But I did vote for a democrat. Wanna know why? Unlike trump, said democrat at least sounded like he would take the pandemic seriously. And guess what, we've got vaccines now! I see voting against Trump was the right decision.
Ah, that's right, you're like her. Pedaling the left's merchandise while labelling yourself and independent thinker. Wow, you're so unique and clever!
And you know, I'd give y'all the benefit of the doubt... if I thought you were remotely capable of articulating a conservative talking point, but I suppose all you're good at is rehearsing whatever mainstream BS is popular now.
And the vaccine... is that the best excuse you've got? Vaccines were being rolled out prior to Biden even being inaugurated.
Awe thank you! I'm not trying to be unique and clever, but I didn't think I just was. And no lol, after January 6th, I don't even bother reasoning with republicans, conservatives, or anyone in diehard support of oRaNgE mAn.
And nobody is going to take a vaccine from a guy who recommends you inject yourself with disinfectant. Lol
The same guys that want to keep statues of the confederacy because tearing them down would erase history? I’m shocked, shocked! Well, I’m not that shocked.
He may not have but i get his point. You turn on the news and everything is blamed on white people, Specifically white men. Just cuz we share a gender and skin color as trump and Weinstein some how we are all to blame for all the shit they do
Hey black people have a "I'm a black victim card too". So do white people. It's always the white people's fault. Black people can't take responsibility for their actions.
Because white people will be in the minority in the coming decades and as such, the retardlican party is now a party of white grievance and white supremacy coupled with the feeling that jesus himself bequeath america to the white man.
I don’t understand why people are so scared of white people becoming the minority. Nobody is killing off white people, people on the far right use it as an excuse to spread the false neo nazi white supremacist white genocide myth and etc
I live in Charlottesville and I can confirm that both sides were very confused about who Robert E Lee was and the history surrounding him.

According to the current global slavery index every other race has more slaves today than white people ever did... look it up.
So? Does that make it OK?
And there are 6x as many people around today as in 1870, when there were 4 million slaves just in the southern US, compared to 12-29 million worldwide today.
Look it up.
Go ask them. I didn't make Democrats oppose the abolition of slavery on paper.
So you’re either extremely misinformed or a full on neo nazi cause what the hell are you even arguing
I'm arguing that if I can be held accountable for Democrat slavery in the past then blacks can be held accountable for African slavery today. They don't even say anything about all those poor slaves.

Centrality of slavery? Where do you get that goofy idea from?
Slavery is what kep this nation running in the 1800s. So yes, it was pretty central.
@williamstorm3 did we not fight a war, the ultimate result of which, intended or not, was the ending of slavery? And was the victor not the Union, which thrived mainly on industry?

However, they are trying to write it in a way that makes them look good, or makes their opponents look bad.

You’re delusional, get well soon
I meen I don't know what u have been seeing bust every time we have turned around white men have been blamed for everything the last 5 years or so
Through* the "THREW" you used is a verb, aka an action. So if you want to play that game you might as well start on your end.

Notice how I never bring up crt
No need to.
A flower by any other name smells the same.
Cool, 4+4=5. Critical race theory Is NAZISM. Lmao
Critical race theory is a poor plagiarism of nazism, yes.
And no, I'm not a critical theorist, four plus four is always equal to eight.
And two plus two is never equal five.
I’m obviously joking, my guy
Equating Critical theory to neo nazis is hilarious. There’s no way you actually believe that
But your critical theorist palls aren't.
Which is why it felt so ironic for you to say it.
And no, comparing CRT to nazism is appropriate, and both share on it's anti-semitism and anti-capitalism, CRT just has more hateful itens.
CRT is also anti-asian, and anti-white, it actually justifies it's racism against Asians by calling Asians "white adjacent".
Excuse me! Have you ever heard of "Cancel Culture?" Watched Statues being toppled? That's not Republicans!
Taking down statues of slave owners isn’t erasing history. You can read about them still. Having statues of them isn’t history, it’s more or less praising them because you should only have statues of people who stood for a good cause.
If you saw a statue of hitler you’d assume it was because they were praising them, same goes for the statues torn down
