What do you think of my first speech?

It's not its entirety, those are some excerpts I have translated. The thing itself is very long, and I'll be reading it in public next week - I'll leave out some points since they'd made it easy to recognize my location.
- regarding my relationship with opposing parties ''I believe in all honesty I've never attacked, or offended, or insulted someone to an extent it made impossible to collaborate with respectable and worthy people, especially those who have the willingness to work for the collectivity''
- regarding my age - ''I have worked hard and seriously to earn my academic titles and honors, and despite my age I've already been holding the right to exercise them and my authority for two years now, not unlike all the other my colleagues which I greatly respect and value for their experience and accomplishments''
- regarding the current political climate - ''I won't let, nor allow any involvement of any political force or party that doesn't have the interests of our territory at heart. I believe, that this political hysteria that is blowing over everyone of every side and belief, it's deletery to good governance and a serene process of evaluation and decision making... we won't allow any interference or hysterics in our work.''
- regarding our town - ''This colorful, sweet territory we live in, which has everything, water and land, mountains and hills... this territory is little in the Nation, but so much richer and with a deeper history, that doesn't have nothing to envy to proper nations... a place where people can work, study, live and build, love and make family, in serenity, peace and happiness.''

Im impressed with your diligence, and focus in maintaining a respectful, and professional relationship with your constituents. In politics, the art of compromise is the most important skill you can master. Do yourself a favor, read JFK's "Profiles in courage".

As the others have mentioned, it reads on the gentle side. Of course, a strong verbal presentation can add some body and passion to it. The concepts presented are great. One grammatical comment - in the age segment - the word after "colleagues" should be "whom" since you are referring to people, and not "which" to be used with objects.

You are right, although I translated it into English since I'm not in an english-speaking country - in my language is correct.

This is why when asked "what super power I would want" I always reply the power to know ALL languages! Sorry- I shouldn't assume a one-to-one linguistic relationship from language to language- it seldom happens.

I use a soft language intentionally, I don't wish to be bombastic as the other politicians - pretty much everyone else - I've condemned for their ways

Well that's fine, but you don't sound like you're passionate about anything, or will do anything but perpetuate whatever status quo is in place.

The tone will be much more passionate, even if the words are soft. Right now I'm pointing on stability and social programs - nothing revolutionary, as people nowadays just want to be assured they'll be alright. I'll mostly focus on aids to families, conservation of the infrastructures and some social campaigns for children, their parents, eldely and inclusion of disabled. If it goes well and the populace appreciates it, I have in mind more ''revolutionary'' ideas for the second term.

Not sure where you live but I very much doubt things are going to be fine in any jurisdiction.

Europe. I have trust in my program, but first off we need to reinforce the local resources, get what we need from the provincial and regional governments while cutting off their interferences and those of any big political party.

It's going to seem like small potatoes when climate famine refugees start pouring in soon.

We are already dealing with floodings, and some families have had problems but I lead some relief on both situations already. As for the third problem - while we are welcoming and have hosted some refugees, we'll also seal hermetically if the situation reaches certain levels.

I've been studying the data over and over. It really seems like a Gigadeath is on the horizon. I'm sure we'll hang on in the western countries, but I'm not looking forward to watching it unfold.

As for being a local leader, you'll probably want to be ready to respond to problems that would normally be one step above your jurisdiction, just incase the higher authorities are dealing with something else.

I've seen two Canadian towns burn down due to lack of preparations in recent years. The climate disruptions are becoming really very dangerous.

These are trying times for sure.

That's surely something I'll have to discuss and work with the Civil Protection. Here we got the problem of floods and it will get worse in the next years.

Be commanding with your responses. Short, concise, deliberate responses. When Kennedy had his debate with Nixon, his 'forthrightness', and command of his language made him appear more charismatic than usual. Nixon was hesitant.

Actually, no one. I've made a civil list - which is a group of unaffiliated citizens - because to be honest I don't like much political parties of my country.

no citizen likes the political parties in their country. but for some reason they support a party as if like a sports team. 😳

That's one of the biggest things I detest about politics here! People support their parties like football teams. There's no dialogue, no willingness to work out a compromise or keep in mind they have to work for the citizens - they just have this "us vs them" mentality.

It's imperative that you know which political affiliation your policies reside at. Otherwise, your opponent will jump all over you, and label you as naîeve and unprepared. You don't want that.

@pjf1958 some are conservative, other are liberal.
@Opinion owner, not really, since some of my views wouldn't be liked by Communists - ie. keeping a relationship with the Church, though here is almost mandatory - but in the end I mostly go with what I feel it's better for my community and town.

@pjf1958 my government will be mostly "academic", as it will mostly focus on a conservative balance with expenses on social initiatives. On that side I'll be more conservative - I will focus mostly on the services to the population, but to the neglect of progressive social initiatives promoted by others. It's just that the current problems we are facing - economic crisis, floodings - make so I have to focus on those emergencies first.
