Our parents became mature earlier, started to work earlier, graduated earlier, moved out earlier, got married earlier had kids earlier, everything in their early 20s...
WTH HAPPENED NOW?
Did we all just become lazy? Or did everything spiral down in our society?
I can't even save money no matter how much we make, there are taxes, debts, insurances and all this that won't allow us to put something aside for a new car or w. e. ...

Civilizations have predictable cycles. The details vary but there are common outcomes. The West is in decline and the decline is accelerating. A civilization at its peak expands due to its power and prosperity. This leads to the rise of finance and cosmopolitan, global cities. During the latter stage of civilization these cities suck the brain power and wealth out of the hinterland that gave birth to the civilization, and the elites tend to turn against the common people and the culture from which the civilization rose, often preferring foreigners who will owe loyalty to the elite that brings them into the civilization’s homeland. It becomes more and more difficult for people to live, maintain stable families, and the most capable people must work harder in the cosmopolitan cities. Unprecedented luxury and the increasing burden of maintaining it, combined with a loss of religious faith, leads to reduced fertility. Eventually the population crashes. With current reproduction rates, people of European descent will almost disappear within 200 years. Ultimately, before this happens the common people try to find strong leaders (caesar figures) who promise to protect them from the elite, but those leaders often turn out to be incompetent. Eventually, the system becomes unsustainable and masses of people gradually abandon the global cities and go back to the land. The collapse can be devastating or the civilization can persist, but in a weakened state that is backward-looking in terms of its arts, philosophy, and the like. The West is obviously in it’s late stage.

Well I don't think it happened in early 20's but surely at around 25-27 years of age 95% of the older generation did get married and have kids. For women yes it surely would have happened much earlier say in 18-21 years of age.

What happened now? Well I think it is a combination of things and factors and not just a few.

To name a few, nowadays the younger generation is far more rebellious, resistant to pressure from elders, parents and society. Societal pressure, peer pressure though it is still there but today's generation is handling it far better. Especially the ones who have self respect and believe in doing things what they think is right rather than following some custom, traditions they don't truly believe in.

This is something that did not happen with older generation, they just did, they obeyed their elders blindly.

I don't think laziness is a factor here.

With today's generation it is about doing things right and not the TIME itself. I mean doing things at a certain time is not so important for today's generation.

They had it easier then than the current generation.

Inflation happened.. the housing market price increased, jobs got shittier and offer less benefits, the national minimum wage hasn’t increased in over a decade, bills started increasing, the need for expensive technology became mandatory, price of rent raised, labor-intensive jobs now pay less.. most jobs nowadays require nothing under a Bachelor’s degree.

I don't think it's "normal" but it's just getting common. There are many factors. We all have technology and entertainment developed now that keeps them from getting out of their comfort zones and having parents disregarding and downplaying their issues and mental health because of "how they were treated before" really if this generation is getting lazy, don't forget who's raising them. As far as I know, a lot of parents just give kids phones, computers and internet to keep them busy and as a solution to their problems making them reliant to social medias and online help which causes stress, anxiety, cyber bullying and more bad influence because they can't open up to their parents. And parents can easily blame the internet being one sided and generalizing it's all bad influence even tho the internet can really be a good source of information if you're just well guided. After all, they're also first timers of the internet. "It's because of that god damn phone" is what the say but not considering how they never guided their kids and talk about their issues. Another factor would be the inflation and there are just more things to pay unlike before paying for just food and utility and car/loans, car fuels and tuitions before was so cheap unlike today and now we also have to pay for the wifi, phones, computers and gadget accessories (those maybe something you can live without but jobs/schools may require you to buy some). But sure I don't really speculate generation alpha would be any worse or more depressed but I speculate the opposite because if their parents are zoomers, chances are they'd understand their issues really well and they'd be free to use their gadgets with a lot of guidance so maybe they'll grow up earlier. Gen Z may be the most depressed but as far as I know, they're the nicest generation. They only seem "spoiled" to the parents who don't even bother raising them properly.

I blossomed and achieved my definition of success relatively late in life.
That's fine with me now.
There were times when I was younger when I wasn't very optimistic.

I now have a young adult son who is well on his way to what appears to be a very successful life.
That's in thanks mostly to my wife's endeavors, but I like to think that I had a hand in his success, as well as his own ambition.

Everyone has their own hurdles in life.

Every generation has it's own trials and accomplishments.

As long as you keep trying to improve yourself and your circumstances, you're a success in my book.

I think the modern generation has different values. We value our freedom in the moment more than our possible future. While at my parents went to university right after school me and most of my mates have taken a year off to decide what we shall do with life.
I think the problem why we can´t anything has to do with the modern economy especially in Europe that saving money is punished with negative interests that teach us that is bad to have money in a bank account but instead we should spend on things that we get told we need.
Like why do you need an IPad mini/max if you have a normal sized one?
So because all of our friends have it, we want it without asking if we need it really.
We didn´t become lazy we just became inpatient because we want to have things now because we don´t what the future brings.

You're not the only one. We have lost one thing and gained something else, both of which have made it harder. In the first one we have lost a supportive community that used to help people of our age through these kind of situations. In the past people like our parents generation could depend on help and mentorship from those of the older generations. In our case the mentor is not only aren't there but they don't know how to handle the current complexity of the world.
Which brings us to the second point. The world that we live in now is far far more complicated than it used to be. You have to become an expert in everything in order to navigate through it well. When in the past something like health insurance was as easy as a 15-minute read of a pamphlet and then you understood the field

I think there's a bigger competition for jobs in our generation than during our parents'. In order to get a job that pays you well, you need qualifications. To get qualifications you need to go to college and you have to spend a lot of money during the time you study for college fees, transportation, accommodation etc. Part time jobs don't really help you pay all the bills. For some reason many relationships seem to fail these days, so marriage doesn't come early for some or many people. Maybe these are some of the reasons why we are late.

When you start breaking down ideas like this into individual life experince you will quickly find exceptions to the rule. My family and friends have said that I was born several generations too late. By middle school I was working a full time summer job and had the maturity level of a adult. Also there where many of times where I felt like I was my fiends in high school grandfather. Because my life experince as far back as late elementary school very much pushed me to grow up fast. Also the closest thing to a father I had was my grandfather.

if you can't save any money, it's because you're living at or above your means. This is what most people do though, so you aren't alone. You have to either find ways to spend less or bring in extra income if you want extra money. I would say it's normal with the way the world has been changing. It's a lot more scary out there now than it was when our parents were young, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with taking longer to be "ready" to venture out on our own either. Some cultures have houses where the family all lives together even in adulthood.

But yes, we are also a lot more lazy and feel more entitled than those that came before us. It's common to expect things without much effort toward obtaining those things now, when back in the day, people knew they had to work their butt off to get it.

Yes and no. I mean I’m not much older than you but I think a if part of today’s generation is a lot of things we’re fine for them. I couldn’t wait to leave when I turned 18. And honestly a lot of people my age still don’t have it figured out, I’m not even sure I have it figured out. I used to think the same when it came to money, but after a lot of audio books, YouTube videos, etc., I learned how to achieve be able to save. Maybe you can find a group of people your age who are successful in doing this, maybe someone who is even older that can help you. Trust me you’re not alone.

we’re not lazy, objectively speaking our parents generation had it better i’m many ways. The baby boomer generation is the most spoiled generation of humans to ever exist with the time they got to start their careers how cheap it was to go to school and how much more jobs actually paid in real, inflation adjusted wages back then, plus many got to start investing during the dot com era when u could literally not go wrong with investing in anything with the extra money you saved from your work.

The world war 2 generation was the greatest. They built America and made us the greatest country ever known to man, but spoiled their kids , the baby boom generation which started the protest movements. They grew up and actually maintained the US. Baby Boomer kids are spoiled too. My generation 50 and older will have to be the ones that save America. Very normal. When you raise children as constant babies, they grow up to be adult babies who never properly developed mentally.
