Scott Apley, a Texas Republican Executive Committeeman who passed away after an acute case of COVID-19. “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the news of the death of H. Scott Apley, our friend, our Patriot in Arms, our State Republican Executive Committeeman, Precinct Chair, Dickinson City Council Member. A tragedy. Please pray for Melissa and Reid and their family. God remains in control although this is yet another tough one to swallow.”

Less than one week before this announcement, Apley himself posted an image of an anti-vaccination sentiment on his Facebook feed, mocking people for worrying about COVID-19. The post read: “In 6 months, we’ve gone from the vax ending the pandemic, to you can still get Covid even if vaxxed, to you can pass Covid onto others even if vaxxed, to you can still die of Covid even if vaxxed, to the unvaxxed are killing the vaxxed.” It was the last post he made. Two days later, H. Scott Apley was admitted to the hospital with “pneumonia-like symptoms,” and put on a ventilator

The last I checked, people die from Covid, they die from vaccine injections immediately after and they die from Covid after receiving the vaccine. Can anyone tell me what the vaccine accomplishes? I heard it reduced symptoms only. How could we possibly know if the vaccine would have saved him? Do we have any definitive data that the vaccine has actually saved a life independent of they would have lived if they just caught covid and recovered naturally within the 99.8%tile, and was able to definitively conclude that without the vaccine said person would have died? No, that is impossible to determine because it is impossible to separate vaccine success from natural recovery when the recovery rate naturally so high at 99.8%. How the hell can anyone determine the vaccine saved a life without the high natural recovery rate entering into it and while there remains a fairly significant death rate due to the injection itself that nullifies the potential 0.002 gain? It is absolutely impossible because now even if you have the vaccine, you still get sick with all the symptoms and are still a spreader. Say you recover with the vaccine, how do you know you weren’t simply one of the 99.8% natural recovery statistics instead. There isn’t any data that can possibly be extracted that definitively proves this vaccine saved a single life. The whole thing is becoming a complete farce. However, your story does fuel the propaganda on the surface with no logic applied.

What he wrote seems reasonable.
What he misses is that statistically you are much less likely to get covid once vaccinated, much less likely to get it badly and need hospitalisation, and much more likely to live with no further complications.
I naively believe that nanobots have not yet been invented and don't see the vaccinations as a threat.
Sometimes it takes a death of an influential opponent like this to remind people that karma is a bitch and maybe they should think for themselves.

Unfortunately, many people don't take it seriously until it affects them personally. I don't think anyone can definitively say whether the vaccine would have saved his life or not, but it's certainly possible that it could have. I just feel sad for his son having to grow up without a father now. I truly don't understand all of the misinformation and conspiracy theories being spread about both the virus and the vaccine. I'm so tired of people just re-sharing whatever they see on social media "because if it's on facebook, it must be true!" If people would just take five minutes do their own research, analyze the available evidence, and read peer-reviewed journals in order to formulate their opinions, we probably wouldn't be in the situation we're in now.

I'm fully in favor of every person having the right to make their own decision regarding being vaccinated or not. Enough info is out there for people to make an informed, albeit imperfect, decision. And with each decision, that individual deals with the consequences. There's no reason to make vaccination a government mandated thing.

@ohshee Your ventilator comment is a bit rudimentary and broad-stroked, but not completely inaccurate. A family member of mine uses a C-PAP machine (not exactly the same as a ventilator, but similar) for sleep apnea, and you have to keep that machine SPOTLESS. He's used the machine for less than a year, and it's done wonders for his sleep, but he's also had two respiratory (non-Covid) infections, despite the fact he and his wife clean that machine regularly. Obviously their home isn't a hospital, but their home also doesn't contain dozens or hundreds of sick people either.

I have and to be honest most of them did not die of covid-19 they have the other illnesses I personally know three people that died and on their death certificates it states covid-19 which is a lie one of them had a bad heart it was waiting for a heart transplant they had another heart attack one of them went in for a routine check-up was put on a ventilator there's nothing wrong with him it was a routine checkup and the next day had died now when covid-19 came out and the government said all these people are dying from covid-19 well about 2 years ago I was reading an article on my state my city there's over 3,000 people that died that year now they died from gunshot wounds Hit and Run car accidents giving birth at least 15 to 20 different ways that people have died and they would list the number of people who died in that manner so then the next year I was curious too so I looked it up once again over 3,000 something people died in my city cause of death was cancer gunshot wounds the same scenario 20 different ways that they all died with the number of people did die from that same situation now we have covid-19 so I look up on how many people died again last year is kind of weird what it said once again there was something like 2,600 people had died and even though you see on the news that people had died from a car accident or hit-and-run or gunshot wound or what have you it wasn't listed in the satistics everybody in my city died from covid-19 now either it's a miracle all these deaths occurred but nobody got hurt nobody dies from cancer anymore nobody died from complications they all died from covid-19 well I went back 15 years and the same thing 20 different ways people died and they're all listed the last year everybody died covid-19 there's something wrong with that picture

Each "variant" is a changed version of the covid virus. It is common for viruses to mutate over time. Common flu is a good example and each year the vaccination is modified to account for those changes.
The covid delta variant originated in India and was spread rapidly during many pilgrimages. It was spread to other countries and worked its way here. It was not in the vaccine at all. Anybody with any intelligence can see that the variant is a mutated strain and is NOT in the vaccine.
