To the right wingers who spew this kinda of crap all I have to say is this: all of this falling apart the way that it is is on them.

After 9/11 the US had the support of the entire world behind us. Even IRAN was supporting US actions in Afghanistan. While we were never able to dislodge the Taliban from the mountain strongholds, we were able to keep them at bay with just ~10,000 troops in the entire country at a given time. If we wanted to build a stable Afghanistan, we should have finished what was started with the implementation of the CIAs' secret war in Afghanistan.

We could of easily have done and helped build infrastructure on gold mine of mineral wealth but like the good capitalists that they proudly proclaim themselves to be, the American right thought about what would make them a profit in the short term. Thus they decided to use the fear of terrorism wrought by the 9/11 attacks to rally support for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. This ruined the reputation of the US and sunk 3 trillion dollars into the quagmire draining the war resources of the US. A fraction of that money could have been used to nation build in Afghanistan. So we had a chance to win the War in Afghanistan but then the GOP had to blow it all up because of their greed and ego. It's just blatant hypocrisy to point fingers at the Biden administration.

And yes Biden supported the Iraq war but it was still the GOP that put that option on the table.

What the hell are you talking about?

When Biden took office, EVERYTHING concerning our war efforts, regardless WHERE they are, fell on Biden's shoulders - including ANY withdrawals or troop draw downs. The fact the US is getting out of Afghanistan isn't a problem for conservatives.

Basic logic says you withdraw forces in the following order:

Remove civilians first
Then equipment
Then the soldiers

And you continually harass the enemy while you are pulling out. Then destroy your bases and any equipment you can't remove, as you leave.

This isn't a new process. What was the military thinking, or the State Dept., or the alphabet soup groups (CIA, NSA, FBI), and ultimately the President? And to throw our allies there working with us, under the bus, without giving THEM time to remove their personal is beyond imagination, let alone doing! Biden created a complete mess in Afghanistan and he has ZERO idea what day it is, let alone what to do. Biden is 150% totally responsible for this!

Biden has totally F'd this country with so many of his idiotic decisions. This Afghanistan chaos is the worst decision by far. I promise you, things are only going to get worse with this nimrod as President. Don't believe me? Just watch.

Media companies are businesses after all... And whenever a democrat "fucks up" big time that's a lot of cash money for right-wing outlets 'cause then they have actual content and don't just report on what crazy things left-wing outlets say.

Overall, it's hard to say the withdrawal wasn't botched, leaving behind many people and billions in military assets... but I think only time will tell if it is a good or bad thing in the long run.

Two points are pertinent. First, American media is replete with "biased media," right and left. Ever thus has it been. Secondly, whether the media bias is a factor in the criticism of Mr. Biden's handling of the evacuation of US forces from Afghanistan is beside the point. The objective question being whether or not that criticism is warranted.

As regards the media, let us keep perspective here.

The media at the time the Founders laid out the First Amendment were almost all partisan news sheets. The very idea of an unbiased media would have been laughable.

Moreover, the term "yellow journalism" came out of the 19th century. Indeed, it was media reaction to the sinking of USS Maine that pushed a very reluctant President McKinley to ask Congress for a declaration of war against Spain. Indeed, speaking of "fake media," it was later discovered that the sinking was probably an accident and not a Spanish attack.

The notion of an unbiased media really only came about as an accident of technology. Television had three - four if you count PBS - networks. Radio had two national news networks - CBS and NPR. There were three newsmagazines - Time, Newsweek, U. S. News & World Report. Newspapers were always locally focused and it was only due to their location that The Washington Post, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal gained national prominence. (Later USA Today did create a national identity.)

Because of the limited outlets, in order to get the broadest possible audience, the news business had to attempt a high degree of balance. Moreover, during much of this period there was a stronger sense of social cohesion, which tended to reinforce the tendency toward balance.

However, beginning in the 80s with cable and the first cost effective lap top computers, it became possible to target a specific audience. Throw in the proliferation of outlets and social media and audience segmentation took off. Then, as night follows day, a more biased journalism followed. It was as much effect as cause.

That media is biased, but there are examples of both. Fox tilts toward what Americans call the conservative viewpoint. However, CNN and MSNBC are as equally tilted the other way - see also CNN's playing horse to former Governor Cuomo's Lady Godiva. Indeed, CNN allowed the Governor's brother to interview the then New York Governor on what was nominally a news program. Kinda doubt that was "objective journalism."

Be that as it may, to criticize "right wing" media for "slamming" President Biden is problematic in any case. As even Democrats in the House, including the likes of Rep. Adam Schiff - he of impeachment fame - have noted, the Biden Administration badly bungled the Afghan operation. Pulling out the troops before withdrawing the civilians and the heavy equipment. This has been an example of colossal ineptitude on an almost unparalleled scale by any objective military and diplomatic analysis. In this then the question is, as noted, somewhat eccentric. Blaming "right wing" media for doing what "right wing" media would be expected to do - oppose the opposite political philosophy - while ignoring the objective merits of the case.

The problem has been passed on from multiple Whitehouse's over the years, and any withdrawal is never without its problems. Were we ready for the withdrawal, in my opinion we underestimated the scope and seriousness of the problems presented. We should have had better intel so we could have been better prepared. Hindsight is always 20/20.
