Where have you been? Gay marriage has been legal in the US for 6 years. And now that they can, they're participating in the first two panels in the cartoon you posted.
I think the angle is wrong. Marriage is a religious process and should not be managed by governments anyway. There is only law attached to marriage because the country used to be christian and all reference to it should have been removed with the separation of church and state.
Are you referring to the legal contract or secular marriage, or the Catholic sacrament of holy matrimony? Are you saying you believe that only Catholics and Mormons should be allowed to marry?
Under that nomenclature yes. Outside of religious partnerships (which have their own names) the term should just be around the contract and the contract is just a civil partnership agreement.
This would also enable non romantic civil partnerships between friends to garner the same benefits/reliefs from the government.
The use of marriage over a civil partnership is either for rights that should not be attached to a religious practice or to be spiteful to a religion that doesn't accept you by appropriating their practice... neither of which I think are good reasons, I'd rather just detach any rights/privileges from the religious practice and universalise them.
Do you really expect to hear some rational responses here?

I think the government should only really care about legal partnerships of whatever combination. I'm really not sure it needs to be more complicated than that.
But this country wasn't founded on religion. It was founded so all religions could be practiced without persecution. If they don't want to agree or participate thats absolutely fine, but they also shouldn't try to push their religious beliefs into laws limiting the rights and happiness of others.
They are closeted and don't want to deal with it, that's pretty much it.

Two people who are of the same sex simply CANNOT be married to each other according to God's Laws. Homosexuality and Heterosexuality have NOTHING to do with the fact that both people MUST be of the OPPOSITE sex.
Op: you are talking about the sacrament of holy matrimony. We are talking about the legal contract of secular marriage. Op: do you also believe that Morons and Catholics are the only people allowed to get married? Are you saying Jews aren't allowed to marry? Are you saying the Sikh shouldn't be allowed to marry? Are you saying that pentecostals, and evangelicals, and baptists, and methodists aren't allowed to get married?
@NerdyAndTall , by all means, move to or temporarily locate to a state where it’s legal get hitched, then move back., personally I think the marriage license from the state is what ruins relationships, it’s wielded like a car title, as in “ I OWN YOU NOW.

Maybe because they are religious and have been taught it goes against their faith.

I totally agree with you. I just know some people use their religious doctrine as a reason to deny people a lot of things.
People should be able to do whatever they want, as long as it isn't harmful.
Where do you live? Same sex marriage is totally legal in my country, and many countries.
because Catholics are too stupid to understand the difference between a secular marriage and the sacrament of holy matrimony.
They are secretly gay
https://www.youtube.com/embed/yMsG9ScQP9IBecause they don't need them. There are far more important issues to be dealing with.
It’s a mental disorder. You wanna give them all the power and wait 20 years and find out the destruction that’ll not be able to be reversed.
I suggest doing some research!

According to God's Laws you should also stone a woman who doesn't cry out when she is raped and is acceptable to have multiple wives and own slaves...
