Guns are heavily restricted as it is. the thing why deaths by gun violence are so high and will remain high is partialy die to lack of education and lack of knowledge. Though mainly the cause of death by gun violence are done by criminals who will use guns to kill no matter how high the restrictions you put on them because criminals don't care about the laws. So it's pointless to put heavier restrictions on already hard to get weapons.
@OddBeMe not at all. The less guns there are then all the criminals that know how to get them will have them a d the average person will be unarmed unable to defend them selves. Please don't say that's what we have the police for because we all know that they are really no help in the actual moment you have to defend your life. More responsible and educated gun owners need to be armed.
Yeah that episode actually proved my point. But the blackmarket prices would skyrocket if we had more gun bans. Means less criminals would have them. You know…like the rest of the civilized world.
There are real guns and fake guns. A fake gun may be a solid block of metal or plastic or otherwise demilled. A real gun can be loaded to shoot a round including a blank. Calling real guns that shoot blanks "prop gun" is nonsense. He used a real gun to shoot a round at someone and killed them. This has nothing to do with fake guns one would use as a static prop.
So how is it any different than if my friend bubba says his guns unloaded and i aim it at john and pull the trigger and it was loaded and kills him? Thats a criminal charge.
we should be arguing about how wrong it is for a rabid anti-gun nut job to be profiting off of guns. And also, does the level of negligence committed by Alec Baldwin reach a level high enough to where he's actually responsible for the death? Seems like it should.
Til this moment I still don't understand why fake guns can't be used as prop. With even the slightest risk present, real guns shouldn't have been used.
Geez.. that's a narrow view of gun deaths... how many were suicide, how many home invasion, how many were police (righteously vs biased) involved. And who wouldn't want to know that when you are acting you know that the risk of death is reduced?

What kind of moronic asshole uses an incident like this to argue for general gun control?
THERE IS ZERO REASON WHY A GUN CAPABLE OF FIRING A LETHAL ROUND SHOULD BE USED AS A PROP ON A MOVIE SET. That is the ONLY issue we should be discussing here.
I've never heard of a country so fucking backwards when it comes to firearms. Like 50 shootings a month killing dozens. Can't believe a country like that has to be said that no one in it is fucking old or mature enough to use guns.
The Irony is Alec Baldwin is a huge and out spoken Anti-gunner. Alec Baldwin choose to be ignorant of the basic firearm safety rules. This is an accident but was 100% avoidable if he would had taken the time to learn the basic firearm safety rules.
Don't call it a prop gun when its able to take live ammunition.
"We're not animals" then says "fists and not weapons"
Oh the irony
Along as there are evil in the world that will us tools to hurt another the ones that have no wish to hurt anyone but live there live will only have a fair chance if they too have the option to have the best tool to defend themselves as they see fit.
Most people that use guns are cowards. The bottom line is I'm not condoning any sort of violence but I think fair is fair. Fist should be the only weapons we should use against each other and for the most part people civilised people don't resort to such drastic measures. So no irony there at all. It's just a basic, we all attempt to protect ourselves when we face danger. Our fists are sufficient..
Face facts - if nothing changed after Sandy Hook, then Americans signalled they are okay with mass shootings killing children, and nothing will ever change. This is now a settled argument. Move on.
Don’t need more regulations. Just a lot more gun safety being observed. Especially when real guns are involved. I would have a hard time pointing a gun with blanks in it at someone.
If it's an issue it should be discussed. Doesn't mean it's discussed more. People have been shot over prop guns. That's why they have orange tips. If it saves lives then it's worth the discussion
Great point here. Honestly more people kill with cars than guns in almost every country. Anyone who disagrees should check the statistics. Guns are pretty low down there in comparison. And stupid people are generally the cause for all deaths regardless of the tool used to kill
Do some math and realize that 30,000 is infinitesimally small compared to a population of 330,000,000. Also if you are honest subtract the suicides by gun from the deaths
Hollywood is filled with morons with chronic Ego Trips. No amount of regulation outside what we have would have stopped anything. Baldwin is a smug fucker and thinks he's above the rules.
Handling prop guns is a Specialty within the Firearms disciplines. These professionals are not cheap to employ. As you can painfully see, mistakes can't happen.
Home > Society & Politics > Questions > So many are arguing about prop gun safety. Are we really ok with heavier regulation on prop guns than we are with actual guns?

Watch that clip it will help reenforce my argument
Less guns would mean the black market price for guns would shoot up, right? Simple economics.

I wondered that too. I think it was a real gun for authenticity that was supposed to have blanks.
So how is it any different than if my friend bubba says his guns unloaded and i aim it at john and pull the trigger and it was loaded and kills him? Thats a criminal charge.
Well…yeah.
we should be arguing about how wrong it is for a rabid anti-gun nut job to be profiting off of guns. And also, does the level of negligence committed by Alec Baldwin reach a level high enough to where he's actually responsible for the death? Seems like it should.
Profiting? How?
I don’t know about much about prop guns, but I’m not in favor of any more regulations on actual firearms.
Til this moment I still don't understand why fake guns can't be used as prop. With even the slightest risk present, real guns shouldn't have been used.

Fucking liberal assholes.
The Scion of Segregation and Slavery, aka "Odd" does.
@Avicenna Yeah, she's a complete nutter
Yup...

Get rid of all of them...
Guns, prop guns the lot!
We don't need them were not animals, take it back to basics. Fists and no weapons.
"We're not animals" then says "fists and not weapons"
Oh the irony

Just having a regulation that keeps felons from getting guns would bring down a load of deaths.
Prop guns don’t kill people. Alec Baldwin kills people.
Of course Americans are okay with it.
Face facts - if nothing changed after Sandy Hook, then Americans signalled they are okay with mass shootings killing children, and nothing will ever change. This is now a settled argument. Move on.

I can go along with more enforcement.

No one wants regulation of them, we want people to not be stupid when using something that has the potential to kill people on accident.
Great point here. Honestly more people kill with cars than guns in almost every country. Anyone who disagrees should check the statistics. Guns are pretty low down there in comparison. And stupid people are generally the cause for all deaths regardless of the tool used to kill
Isn’t that when regs are needed? It’d be nice if people didn’t drive drunk.
Becasue MURICA! Where you can buy and shoot guns, but not get abortions...

You don't need any real bullets on a movie set, dummy. You do need them if somebody is trying to kill you.
