Why does my boss want to meet me for coffee in the morning?

My boss asked me to call him when I get in to meet for coffee... I'm concerned about this? Recently his boss and others in the office have given me compliments and said I'm a good worker... why would my boss want to pull me out of work to meet with me at another location?

Maybe he is leaving the company and he is going to give you the heads up. Or something is going on at the company and he is going to give you the heads up & he doesn't want others to know. Obviously, whatever it is, he wants it kept private for now.

Don't worry, if he wanted to fire you, he'd do it at the office where he would have back up from others, in case you went postal.

Maybe a secret promotion, or if your boss is the owner of the company he may wanna make you partner.

My guess would either be a chance for a promotion or he wants you to start a new project.

It's probably nothing or something good. However, not too long ago, my boss gave me a promotion and took me out for lunch. I just got canned this week.

Is the coffee place far from your office?

Coffee in the morning isn't so atypical.

no, not far... its a decent place... yet there is Starbucks right by our building..

One of my coworkers has a knack for specific coffee. I could never tell the difference between say Starbucks and another franchised coffee chain around where I live but he could tell the difference.

What kind of stuff does your boss bring up when you get coffee with him?

We don't get coffee... usually come in to the office... chat there... or pulls me aside... we have coffee at our office... so this will be the first...

You're really not give us much. I'd even say your boss is tired of the coffee at the office.

Did he buy you coffee? I work in an industry that allows people to jump from one company to a competitive company quite often. I can sort of see if he is about to jump to a different company maybe he wants to take you with him.

We haven't had coffee... its tomorrow... he's never boughten me anything... it would be weird because we're just starting out

What are you worried about? Or are you even worried?

I am because its unusual... he asked if I drink coffee, I told him I don't... so obviously he wants to talk to me...

Are you worried that you'll be laid off? Layoffs typically happen on Fridays.

Are you worried that you'll be fired? Did you do anything wrong during work recently?

Anybody else that report to your boss? If so, were they invited too?

I really can't think of anything bad.

Maybe he has a project in mind for you. Don't sweat it. If you were getting fired, you'd be called into the office probably at the end of the workday.
