When my mother passed away, I had people ask me at her funeral what she died from and I told them terminal cancer at age 58 only 5 years older than what I am now
I feel the same regardless of who they are. I understand being curious but do believe it's normal for privacy to exist. We aren't owed that information. I do not think it's weird at all.
Your usually guess the cause of death by where the obituary says to donate in memory of. A guy that worked where I retired from. Fell into a deep pit. The obituary said “Died suddenly!” Maybe because of ongoing lawsuits?

I think only close people deserve to know, the family may not want to share the details of such a painful experience with everyone.

And sometimes causes can be misinterpreted to mean something that is FALSE.
Yeah, let's remember people for who they were, not their untimely demise.
Simple , it's Privacy for the family and loved ones especially when it's a suicide.
They notified family before they announce.
If the cause of death is relevant it may be added in. For the most part it isn't important.
The way someone died is none of anyone elses business.
It's not odd and it doesn't make any sense.
