what she died from and I told them terminal cancer at age 58
only 5 years older than what I am now

Why does anyone think we are entitled to satisfy other's curiosity. Family can reserve the right to not share personal business with anyone.

think of it not in terms of a tight knit family but a public figure, an entertainer, let's say, who millions love. Then what?

I feel the same regardless of who they are. I understand being curious but do believe it's normal for privacy to exist. We aren't owed that information. I do not think it's weird at all.

Your usually guess the cause of death by where the obituary says to donate in memory of.
A guy that worked where I retired from. Fell into a deep pit. The obituary said “Died suddenly!”
Maybe because of ongoing lawsuits?

When we see that a person passed, it isn't necessary for us to know the cause unless it directly affects us.

And sometimes causes can be misinterpreted to mean something that is FALSE.
