A recent study reveals that Cops Abuse Wives and Kids at Staggering Rates !
There are those who argue that the police can be trusted always to act in the public interest, protecting and serving the innocent. but research into the private lives of cops suggests otherwise is the case since the percent of cops that are domestic abusers is conspicuously quite high.
Data on police domestic violence is extremely difficult to gather but also tends to be skewed by a persistent culture of silence and intimidation, it suggests that police officers in the United States perpetrate acts of domestic violence at roughly 15 times the rate of the general population.
Since officers tend to protect their own, domestic victims of violent cops often don’t know where to go.
After a Los Angeles Police Department officer murdered his wife and committed suicide in the late 1990s, a review of domestic abuse allegations brought against officers showed that between 1990 and 1997, 227 alleged cases of domestic violence were brought against police officers, only 91 were sustained and only four resulted in the conviction of criminal charges. Of the four convictions, only one officer was suspended from duty. He was asked to take three weeks off.
I’m curious as to what blue lives matter peoples reasoning is for supporting police after this?

So what´s the solution? Take away the police and let everybody defend themselves on their own? That would lead into anarchy because any law that the government passes will be useless because no institution to rightfully implement it. The institution of the police is crucial part of the democracy therefore it´s important that it works right. The problem shouldn´t be the institution of the police in itself but the apprenticeship and the choice of candidates. Also the "philosophy" of handling cases should under observation and it should also involve anti-aggression training. The police in the US seems poorly educated which speaks for itself looking at a country that spends so much money its own defence. The solution has to be a different way of choosing candidates and a reduction of aggressity in the whole society. Because police officers nor citicants have an easy life but there need to be more options to go to seek for help. All have to remember one thing: As long as humans are involved there won´t be a perfect world. There can be a better world, but it needs everybody to change that.

"Blue lives Matter" was a response to "Black Lives Matter" and certain extremists that believe the only justice against police brutality is to defund, to abolish, or even to give them a taste of their own medicine.
The above video shows police officers on foot pursuit, and some random guy felt like he wanted to be the anti-cop hero and ambushed them. Not long after the shooting, a crowed gathered to shout at the officers for no reason... and of course, the media cuts that part out. You tell me there isn't a problem here.
If I recall correctly, the whole idea behind Black Lives Matter (supposedly) was that the life of a black man/woman was to be valued the same as any other human being, even if they happen to be career criminals. Likewise, regardless of what you think of police, their lives matters too. Especially since they're working a thankless, and very dangerous job where they can be ambushed and shot at any moment.
If they were 227 alleged case of domestic violence during 7 years then we are extrelemely far from the 40 % you're talking about... And even if they were 40 % of the beating their wife it would mean that majority of them doesn't do it and that majority of cops are actually good so yeah their life does matter.
Yes, my mom's brothers are like that. One of them died in a hospital, which the wife was relieved about. Other recently retired, so now is being monsterous.
DIdn't read all of your post. Lets get to the real question: are you suggestng that blue lives don't matter? Are you suggesting that the lives of people don't matter if you are aware of their character flaws?

Always one of the most insightful people on here. People and situations are so much more complicated than a statistic like that can give credit too. The first thing I always think of when I read a statistic like this is how overly aggressive their training is

I hate to break it to you, but 90% of dudes, even wife beaters, they didn't exactly grow up thinking they were gonna be that way from the start.
Were talking about police officers being domestic abusers. Well one possible reason for that might have more to do with the fact they're trained to act overly aggressive, another part could have to do with what a stressful job it can be. And a lot of those guys are sleep deprived.
I'm not making excuses for them but any one of these reasons why a person who would normally never harm a woman might be pushed to, and a police officer is probably dealing with all three.
So maybe the most respectful and productive conversation to have is about their training and hiring practices.

Yes i believe all lives matter even criminals lives matter, however they should always be punish to the full extent of the law. As for a 40% of cops doing domestic abuse, honestly either side could be blame for it. Cops not willing to do the mental health check and criminals not willing to stop being criminals, than theirs the city basically shouting at the top of their lungs to defund and some even saying get rid of them. Stress is terrible to the human body both physically and mentally. While I agree that cops should be taking therapy and if needed time off, dealing with people who are either unwilling to let them do their job ( I could understand if it were another George Floyd cases, that is entirely unlawful and they should have done their job correctly ) or simply shooting at them. In another comment you said that regardless of rather or not the cops are good, they are enabling a system thats bad. My question to you is how would you change this system without causing such high amounts of criminal activity during the transition
You are 100% right but the thing is is when you add a title to it blue lives matter black lives matter White lives matter grasshopper lives matter you take away from what's really going on when you put a label on it a title you take away that all lives matter and all abuse should stop it's very simple the what you start putting labels and twists and turns in it it takes away from it all and then another battle starts because of the title are because of whatever excuse people are going to use to not focus on the real situation
Blue lives never mattered to me, all they have done is made my life more difficult, I've never had a cop do anything or say anything useful in the past 20 years I've been alive, I'd rather not have them near me actually, it's stressful even when I'm not doing anything because anyone can abuse power.
I don't understand your point here. Are you stating that if people abuse their wives/kids, that they should be put to death? Are you stating that the 60% who aren't abusers are worthless because of the 40% who are? My take on police is that I hate that they willingly enforce victimless crimes, which is the bulk of their workload. I appreciate that they also enforce violent crimes and crimes against property. I am thankful for the ones who make the world safer and think that the criminal ones should be in jail, just like other criminals (criminals with victims that is, not prostitutes or drug dealers). I honestly don't know a single person who says that blue lives matter, regardless of their behavior. I think you are intentionally misrepresenting people who support police (and, remember, I am generally not one of those people) just because you are trying to push a narrative instead of judging individual people as individual people.
A cop protects his wife and family just like any other man who is the head of his family... A domestic abuser is an abuser whether he's a cop or not... Every person who physically abuse the other should be treated or punished and also to see why the person have physically abused the other...
If i knew a fellow cop assaulting his wife physically than i'll have a chat with him and try to change him or help him stopping such actions because sooner or later he's going to lose his family and family is the most important thing in the world...
If he's not convinced and do not want to change than he will be punished and regret it later...

The LAPD info cited in this post identified 227 possible abuse cases. That's much less than 1% of all police. If we assume that the nationwide number of possible abuse cases is 100 times that number, that's still only 7% of all police.

@caitycat21 If it's so hard to find information, then please don't state misleading generalities. Cite the LAPD info if you want, but please don't say that 40% of all police abuse their families, even if they do have a culture of secrecy, which nothing in the post supports that theory.
i wouldn't be surprised, if u met a cop off duty u will see most of them are stuck up assholes, not all of them ofcourse, I've met nice cops before, but the majority seem to be jerks for some reason

I’ve met a cop irl once when I was at a hair salon and he was extremely rude to his girlfriend and also yelled at the nice women that was doing his gfs hair because “it was too expensive” and the dude tried to flex that he was a police as if that would make her charge him less for his gfs hair 💀
I have no idea why he was so surprised getting your hair done would cost more during a pandemic where prices are going up.. also his girlfriend was getting weave installed which usually is expensive anyways

I dont know if thats true or not, but if its true then those men would be bad abusive people but at the same time how is this being measured? Is it saying if they spank there kid one time and if they yell at there wife one time when they had a bad day then they are abusive?
40% of cops in the united states that is. In most of the world to become a cop you take a university educación to become a cop. If you don't pass you won't become a cop. The states have what? A 5 week course? So all the shitty cops that would have failed otherwise will often pas the 5 week course. In otherwords the incompetent political strategy is giving the cops in the states the shit they are.

Yes you almost need no education at all to be a cop in the united states. How ever in most countries in the world you do need education to become a cop. Here you can not be a cop without passing at least the bachelor degree at the University. Cop has it's on education degree here. And because if that we have less shitty cops. Since 2005-2021 cops in Norway had you shoot at perps 39 times, and 8 of them died. In the states that a slow day?
You are seriously comparing Norway to the US for lethal force use stats? I'm not even going to waste my time. Apples/oranges is being kind. What are you calling 'no edcation'? As I said, the requirements vary, and many state police require at least 60 hours of college. Besides, a college degree doesn't insure a high quality officer. I could go on, but don't believe everything you read. It isn't the Wild West here.

This doesn't mean "40% of cops abuse their wives and kids at home" You are misquoting information, and that debunks your position immediately.

It takes a certain mindset to even want to be a cop, and I'd have to say it isn't to "protect and serve" with a lot of them. On the other hand, it doesn't help that in larger cities, they are seen as the "enemy" by gangbangers, pimps, drug dealers, or anyone who wants to seriously break the law.

I know that this does go on. A lot of the cops I know are divorced some more than once. Most I suspect because they had some on the side but some were abusers as well. 40% seems high to me though.

I am sorry but... I went to your link and it has absolutely no data just claims without any proof, and they are quoting another site as their source
so I went to the second site and it is the same... it is just claims with no proof nor data... they only copied the info from a third site...
so I went to the third site... and again, the same... just claims with no data to back it up... they only copies what allegedly, a site for women and policing claimed to have studies on
so I went to a fourth and fifth site and well... the site does not even exist... so there's no data nor proof of such studies...
it is just copy and paste of the same claim with no actual data to use as reference
funny thing is... when I thought of the five people I've personally known of being domestic abusers... three of them, worked or had worked in law enforcement... so that would seem like "60% of them"
but I also know a lot more other people who work in law enforcement... which are the vast majority, but they're not abusers... so if focused on that and considered them in the mix, the numbers would change drastically
