Left wing. The right is full of extremists and nut jobs.
and the left is full of those who hate this country and the working class men and women of this country, and want to sacrifice our borders to the ravenous hordes amassing on it, oh and those hordes are unvaxxed and untested, which means the left want to import the pandemic, also a parent has every right in deciding what is taught to their children, but you on the left want everything to be indoctrination and the parents not having a say in their children's future, this is america we have rights despite the left not wanting that, go someplace else then, we're a free and patriotic country, and it's time for the left to stop complaining and just appreciate the glory that is America
Left..

Voted "right-wing," but I always, when I see this kind of question, have to put an asterisk over it.
First, to start, the terms "right," "left" and so forth, are not terribly helpful. The usage comes out of the French revolution, when supporters of a republic sat to the left of the Speaker's chair in the National Assembly, while supporters of the Church and the monarchy sat to the right. While these are common usage in contemporary politics, they actually don't say very much.
Second, beyond that, your update is an historically inaccurate observation that misunderstands the taxonomy of political philosophy. In fact, it was "the right" as you are using that term, that founded the welfare state.
As to being "outgoing" and "socially adept" I hardly know what that means. Suffice to say, these are personal and psychological classifications having little to do with political philosophy. I would be interested in seeing the empirical data you offer - besides your own biases to support your proposition.
Good of you, thought, to allow that there may be exceptions to the rule that you have not demonstrated. Good of you, if analytically problematic.
At any rate, my conservatism is not what Americans typically call conservative. Because what Americans call conservative is, historically speaking, not conservatism but is, rather, classical liberalism.
(As an aside, what Americans call "liberalism" is actually "radical" liberalism. "Radical," here not meaning as we use the term today, i. e., extremist, but rather as the ancient Greeks used it, meaning "to the root of." The radical liberals agreeing with the classical liberals that liberty is the purpose of government and politics, but arguing that differences in wealth and power in society make that liberty problematic.)
My conservatism, which for convenience I will call classical or Tory conservatism, traces its intellectual pedigree through Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas - and probably most importantly - the 18th century British statesman and political philosopher, Edmund Burke, and also the British Prime Ministers Benjamin Disraeli and Lord Salisbury.
In an American context, it shows up in the thinking of Alexander Hamilton and then - almost by historical accident, the American Whig Party, and the former Whig turned Republican, Abraham Lincoln. (It is a great historical "what if" as to what the GOP would have looked like had Lincoln lived and the radical Republicans not gained the ascendancy.)
Classical conservatives believe, unlike American conservatives and liberals, that the purpose of government is to answer Aristotle's first questions of politics, "How ought we to live? What kind of a people do we wish to be?" To which classical conservatives respond that the purpose of government is to nurture civic virtue. To reinforce those habits and customs that make a harmonious and stable social order possible.
Classical conservatives believe in the free market as a tool, rather than an end in itself. They recognize that it is a powerful wealth creator, efficient to some degree, and a guard against an overweening state. However, they believe, as Burke said, "The effect of liberty to individuals is that they may do what they please. We ought see what it will please them to do before we risk congratulations."
Consequently, classical conservatives support an ameliorative welfare state. (The welfare state was invented by two conservatives - Disraeli and Bismarck.) In this they differ from American liberals who see the welfare state as a lever to engineer social transformation.
Tories believe that political philosophy should take as it starting point not human reason, but human nature. That political rights are developed through historical usage, and are not abstract pre-existing.(They don't deny that such abstract rights don't exist. Merely that they are of no practical benefit or use in civil society and law.)
Suffice to say, I could go on, but this summarizes the issue.
"Left" or "right" is incredibly restrictive labels on a multidimensional political world.
We had *10* political parties getting a seat in our last parliamentary election.
As a example.
While in US politics the republicans like to champion the right of rural areas vs the urban ones we have a completely separate political party for that fight, and they're currently in a coalition with our labour party, while the main party that tries to concentrate power, investmets, services and infrastructure in urban areas is our conservatives on the right.
But while those two are on the extreme ends all our political parties have views on this issue placing them somewhere on the urban/rural divide axis, and it most definitely isn't a left/right issue with parties on both the left and the right being on both sides in the urban/rural divide.
Likewise we have a green/gray scale with parties on both sides of that debate on both sides of the left/right divide.
Internationalism and membership in the EU, again a dividing topic.
As a result *all* the political parties will find both allies and enemies all over that linear political spectrum on a case by case basis.
Even if most parties will have some that they tend to have more in common with then others.
The far left and far right have even passed laws together at times.
So where am I myself?
I clicked "left" as I started out as a voter for SV (socialist left party, left of the labour party) here in Norway, but have switched to MDG (basically the greens of Norway)
While my ideals are far left economically I'm also a pragmatic and believe we need to work *with* the market economy.
Meaning support for small and medium size companies as well as start ups.
With carrots as well as the whip for the economy in order to reach the desired goals, instead of trying to just control everything directly.
I do think that it's important with a strong government that supports us, but there needs to be a balance.
Interestingly I'm both a internationalist in that I think we need to find solutions to problems internationally and work together with our neighbors and make compromises that's sometimes not in our favor as well as a ruralist in the sense that I value the existence of a strong and healthy countryside and local self governance.
On the environment I'm vegetarian and definitely green minded rather than gray.
and I'm quite libertarian.
I support immigration and think our laws are downright inhumane.
I'm secular.
But probably a moderate on the gender struggle issue unlike my party that have quite a feminist profile.
But also unlike certain other parties that apparently still live in the 50s.
I share almost no views with the modern left (basically all of them that are still holding office), or the old GOP establishment. They're both a combination of greedy, power-hungry, and out of touch. Some of the relatively newer Republicans are better and I think more serious about their proclaimed stances, but that also means the party is fractured and largely inept since they're not all on the same page.
So when it comes to political factions/forces, I think they're both trash for different reasons, but in regards to the directions they're heading, the right is far preferable.
Every political alignment test I have taken has put me close to the middle. But I don't have sympathize for one side or the other. Because neither are worthy of it. In a lot of ways it's like being in the middle of two friends having a messy break up with each other. Both said and did things that lead to the break up. But it can be really easy to be blinded by your loyalty to your to one or the other to not see it that way. So you end up taking a side and not admitting that both are responsible for the messy break up. Despite the fact that doing so is being dishonest about the situation and being dishonest to yourself. Due to you knowing on some level that both parties are at fault and you decide to ignore the truth.
The left has lost its minds. They focus on gender and trans and gay rights. They should have the rights we have. No more no less. Trans make up less than 1pct of the population yet somehow leftists think our kids should be taught there are more than 2 which is nonsense. You can in your mind be what you want to be but that doesn’t make it so. They have no control of the border. They project lunacy and incompetence. Just look at Covid. The blue states that locked down did horrible. They want to flip the board and label EVERYONE. Their favorite words are racists and white supremacy. Yet most violent crimes are perpetrated by those that are not Caucasian. 85pct of hate crimes are committed by black Americans. The list is endless. Stop producing oil here and buy from our enemies. Call people fascist and be fascists while saying it not no…….
Both are Just a bunch of cry baby assholes that have a stick up their ass.
.
What exactly is the problem 🤔
.
Politics is a Damn Scam and thrive on division.
.
EVERYTHING IS ABOUT MONEY!
.
Thank god I'm not a brain dead zombie like the rest 😴.
.
Irrelevant ass question. NEXT ✌️
I haven't really noticed either party dominating this site. I lean right of center but socially I'm probably more liberal, without the radicalism that is starting to filter through the hard left into mainstream liberalism. In other words, I have common sense.
I'm middle of the road with some liberal and some conservative beliefs. If most people were to label me, they'd probably put me just slightly right of center, though my SO (who is decidedly conservative) would put me slightly left of center. Like I said, I'm middle of the road with some liberal and some conservative beliefs.
I used to be a democrat. But became more conservative due to the democratic party becoming radical.
I agree with points from both political sides.
I do give some people the impression that I’m more Republican than democratic apparently
Left and ring wing is nonsense.
You need 2 axis to adequately plot political positions.

It seems to me that anarchism is a necessary prerequiste framework for humans to explore or define utopia.
One size will never fit all.
Personal freedoms are more important than anything else in my opinion.
My freedom ends where yours begins.
I'm center-leaning, but the right seems less crazy when it comes to most things (except their silly and backwards views on abortion). So I sympathize with the right a lot more, but I'm really on neither side.
I’d gravitate towards the middle. It appears today though that even people that are on the left, are on the right. We have gone so far left as a society it’s disgusting.
Trump got over 15m new votes. I know many lefties that voted for him.
i don't think that being on the extreme of either side is good, but i'm definitely more towards the right.
I was just listening to a left wing YouTube commentary (The Young Turks) where they are arguing that there is no difference between men and women. They refute biology.
You're right. There are a lot of right-wing people on this site. I lean more towards the liberal or left-wing side but I'm not 100% liberal about everything.
Right wing by a lot on social issues and also economic since left wants to go green without addressing what it's doing to the less fortunate and working class.
All you have to do is look at what a total disaster the Biden administration has been., It is all due to left wing policies.
A lot of leftists these days are against the traditional family and against Christianity. I am definitely closer to right wing.
What's funny is if you go far enough left or right you meet in the middle on the back. Loss of rights for everyone.
I have a few views that match with both, left and right details, here and there.
But overall I'm some kind of disillusioned anarchist (not to be confused with anomie).
The left are turning into lunatics, want people to bow down and be slaves, and blindly believe the media, government, and pharmaceutical corporations, and demonize anybody who doesn't share their opinion.
I consider myself right wing because the left are absolutely unhinged, psychopaths with far too many issues
Bet you're a vegan
Vegans are always crazy
@Mrsposh I mean the opinion poster
Vegans think anyone who isn't soft as marshmallow is a psychopath
No wing. I have two arms and do not own any birds. No wings for me, thank you.
Politically speaking, I don't like extremes of any kind.
The great American eagle can not fly without both wings being equal and working in conjunction.
I'm with no politics, I don't have a side, I'm on my own shit
Right-wing. I don;t agree with them 100% but at least their arguments are based in logic, and not emotion.
There is no one label for me, but I am not a part of the lunatic self righteous, smug, pseudointellectuals, that think they are more superior, and hate folks because they don't accept other opinions.
i'm normally right in the center. which relative to current general society makes me far right xD
I dont see it as left vs right. There is only more freedom vs less freedom. And I always lean towards more freedom
Basically although I'd say most of the politician's in power want to take your freedom away
left because all right wing I know are against lgbt
Traditionally left wing. I like the traditional democrats ideals.
So slavery?
@Heartache0405: Slavery is a historic civilization phenomenon. Has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. And no I don't see slavery as wrong anyways considering slaves aren't treated bad.
Going with Progressives as left-wing is meaningless with corporate hacks such as Pelosi.
I don’t consider myself left wing but I can’t stay firmly in the middle anymore tbh
I like my Socialism like I like my women: with Chinese characteristics.
I lean way into the left lmfao
Neither side, both are freaking but jobs
You really have not been paying attention.
I’m a right Wing Republican
I don't even know what that means
I'm not American, but in world-view I'm right.
politics is fake its satanic
