In the Apartheid era only four races existed in South Africa
African, white, Indian, Coloured
When Asians came to South Africa in the early 1910s they were forced to identify as " COLOURED" because government refuses to have them live among the white population of the day. Hence they intermarried with the Coloured
Fast forward the children of these people were classified as Coloured. But a new law allows them to choose. Many have left the race and Boack-coloureds are upset that Adian-coloureds identify as Asian.
Today thousands of Coloureds of Asian descent have reclaimed their Asian identity. But are still claimed by the Boack-coloureds because of Apartheid
