Why is it still deemed necessary for a man to be brave while for a woman is optional?

Meanwhile society still pushes on men to be brave and take risks in life (he gets criticized if he's commitment phobic on anything... no one likes a coward) but if a woman is brave and takes risks then it's optional. She's praised for being a brave woman but isn't criticized harshly if she doesn't do it.

Why are things still like that even in this time? It's not changing.

Man bails on friends in crisis... he's criticized so badly. Woman bails on friends in crisis... she can be criticized too but not as harsh as the man.
