Would you abort your baby if you found out that it has severe disabilities / severe autism?

I'll go first.
I would abort the child. If I ever had kid then I want them to live to their fullest capacity. I don't want to raise any kids who are fully dependent on me and other guardians. I'd raise kids that I will be proud of (no offense to people with disabilities). People call that evil but the brain of a baby has not developed from any experiences yet. It won't understand the concept of life, death, and morals. You can always make another one.

Yes because honestly I don’t want to be a caretaker for the child for the rest of my life. Ontop of that, all those medical bills for a child with physical disabilities and even intellectual disabilities. The care that goes into a child like that, the emotional stress involved… and think about the child… it would be selfish to have the child live their life that way. Never to experience independence, college, a career, getting married. Yes i would abort a fetus with severe autism or any physical disability in all honesty

My mom was a home health nurse for severely disabled children born with a lot of birth defects. Most were on ventilators to make them breathe, and some were so profoundly disabled all they could do was lay in bed and drool. I met a few of her patients and their families.

The saddest thing was when they had other normal children. They completely prioritized the disabled child and dote over them and the other kids are just sort of in the background and ignored. And the family is so stressed out with the care and strapped for cash because of the financial expenses of medical care. It’s just a terrible situation that could have been avoided.

Nope esp would not abort a child that is autistic. I believe that we need different brains in the world and I would love my child no matter how God made him. A big part of being a parent is accepting your child for who they are.

I’m not criticizing or trying to change your mind. Have you ever been around a four year old with severe autism? It isn’t as simple that they think differently. Some of these children will hit themselves over and over again or start hitting their head against a wall. You REALLY have to constantly watch them.

I am a carrier of cystic fibrosis and if my husband was a carrier as well I’d prob do IVF to prevent having a child with it but once pregnant with a child I don’t think I could abort. My husband is luckily not a carrier though so I don’t have to worry about that.

Seems like the way to go is when the fetus gets a brain and nervous system, have more red tape for abortions.
