Why can't people understand feminists aren't against chivalry?

um, so I'd like to say it once and for all : feminists can't care less if you were to open doors for them. they're just against the idea because mostly it's revolving around pretty privilege. if you're a young and attractive woman, only then you can expect gentlemanly behavior on men's part. this is something my mom taught me over the years. we once discussed this question, she's neither feminist nor against it, but she smiled at me quietly and looked at me directly, when I pointed the man at doctor's was nice enough to open doors for us, she said, "do you really think he'd have held the door open if I wasn't in good jeans and tight top, and you with allure of a little girl, only mature? mm, not really." Chilvary hence only exists if the woman's pretty.

Some feminists are opposed to it.

The world in general treats good looking people better, not just men treat good looking women better. Other women treat good looking women better. Studies have confirmed this. We tip good looking people better. We think more highly of them. Students are more attentive to good looking teachers and vice versa. We are less likely to render a guilty verdict on good looking people, and the penalty is lighter on them. Parents are more attentive to their good looking children.

I hold the door open for anyone. For men, women, children, the elderly.

Feminism these days is taken to extreams! I was one thing back in the days when women didn't have any rights, but today women are using it to really abuse it. If someone opens a doors for you (man OR a woman) it is politeness, nothing more... if they do it, thank them and that's it. Do you open the doors for others? Do you give up you seat at a bus or a train? I, as a woman, do it. Because my mother raised me to be kind and polite. Don't think of it as a gender thing.

I hold the door for people if they're right behind me and so on.

A few weeks ago, a girl held the door for me cause I was struggling as I had a bike with me as well.

I think it really depends some men think with their dicks and will only open the door for the attractive women only but others will do it regardless of your appearance or gender i would say though im am technically a feminist the true kind of course not this crazy bullshit sjw type feminists i just simply want the world to give fair treatment to both men and women because there is still areas if society where we are treated differently in the wrong way but i dont think opening the door for someone is it because their is always gonna be decent human beings and their is always going to be someone horny for you just the way it is.

Nah, not true. Men help all those who think they are in need of help. We all feel good for helping out someone. If i see someone who's hands are full and I feel they could use a hand I will help them. Being a man means helping out others pretty or not, man or a woman , old or young. I'm not saying pretty privilege doesn't exist but most men will help out anyone.

And be nice to everyone and holding a door open to go into a store or something is one way of spreading kindness. Trust, has nothing to do with you being pretty. At least for me

It's not that men think feminists are against chivalry. We just don't think they deserve it. And your mother was wrong. Chivalrous men opened doors for all women and girls regardless of how they look.

The attitudes and cynicism of women like you and your mom are what killed Chivalry.

Where I’m from opening the door for someone is so normal that men do it for other men. I’ve opened it for men too many times. It’s not a pretty privilege thing where I’m from. It’s just common manners if you are in front of the person.
