This was taken from a conversation I had in another post. I basically said how since 9/11, the American left and right have been at war with each other and there hasn't been a time in over 20 years when everyone could be proud to be an American like we used to be.
Do you remember back when the US used to be a country you could be proud to call yourself a member of? (Regardless of the hidden stuff going on under our noses.) We now have an entire generation of far-left youth who HATE their own country, just like Yuri Bezmenov said would happen.

Before 9/11, America seemed to be on top and most everyone was proud to be an American and there were virtually no issues in society. Then the War on Terror happened and started this divide between the political left and right (it was mostly the overzealous, cult-like right who were causing problems, at the time).
This pushback lead to Obama becoming president during this time, under the promise of "Hope" and Change. ... That never happened. Things actually got WORSE under Obama, although the recession was mostly the Bush administration's fault. But Obama pushed for woke culture and gave this divisive hateful BS a platform, starting in 2011 when Occupy Wall Street got co-opted by crazy far-left psychos, crumbling the very movement in on itself. Then the Trevyon Martin killing happened in 2013, leading to BLM becoming a thing. And by 2015, most universities in America became indoctrination camps for far-left hatred and bigotry. It's now been a minimum of SEVEN years of this sh*t, and nothing really changed even when Trump was in office.
If someone was born in America after 1999, then they likely never knew a time when they could be proud of their country and see how awesome the US was. Zoomers will never know how great the US once was and how you could unironically be proud to be an American."
Is anyone else old enough to remember a time when you could legitimately be proud to be an American?
Most people who came of age in the 80s would have thought America was the best country on earth. Military actions like Grenada, first Iraq war, etc. were huge rallying events. When I went to college and saw communist posters in the humanities departments and was taught critical theory, I realized that sooner or later this would seep into the broader culture. It was easy to forget this outside of academia though, even though it was becoming clear by the late 90s that the government had sold out the rust belt and agricultural areas in favor of higher GDP and profits for Wall Street. I think the turning point in terms of America’s self-image was the 2008 collapse and the brazen bailout of banking interests paid for by average Americans. Snowden and Wikileaks, aided by the internet, also helped raise awareness of how the US regime is one of legalized corruption and lawlessness. The pointlessness of neoconservative wars was hitting home. Then the woke nonsense got formal power with the Obama administration and eventually vilified (and alienated) large swaths of the population. For anyone who still bleeds red white and blue, the coming inflationary crisis will disabuse them of notions about our supposed greatness. Unless they are rich enough to get fixed-rate loans to snap up assets of people who go bankrupt... America is great for elites.
I am still proud to be American, but I do feel our country has become a laughing stock and a grave embarrassment. The direction we’re headed in is towards destruction.
Thinking back to the 90’s, that was the last decade I can recall where people overall were proud to be American.
Citizens who hate this country are foolish. They do not realize how good they have it comparatively to the majority of the rest of the world. This country is not perfect. Yes, we have done shameful things in the past. All I know is this. No one here has to be afraid of being beheaded without trial by the government. No women here are forced to be covered head to toe in public. We don’t have warlords roaming the streets here. Even the poorest among us are wealthy compared to most of the rest of the world, why even our homeless people are obese. We are blessed immeasurably compared to most of the rest of the world in so many ways I cannot list them all here.
Yes, when We started bombing the hell out of and invading the middle East after 9/11. I signed up for the Marines to go get some. Iraq wasn't even involved, but we were just like fuck you Sadam, we're already here, what are you gonna do?
I was so proud to see our country become unified in anger and attack anyone who didn't agree with our revenge. The IEDs were scary, so being a grunt was super not appealing, also after talking to one of my buddies who was in urban combat for over 72 hours in Fallujah to secure a forward position. He was broken. Anytime he saw people with brown skin he pulled a gun.
Anyway, that we could mobilize and wipe out such a large percentage of several countries' populations is a huge achievement, Obama saw that the good work must continue and put more ordinance on target than even bush, trump didn't want to be outdone either, but it's not like you can re-kill Bin Laden. I still remember us cursing the french and calling them traitors while renaming french fries to freedom fries.
Seriously, that's powerful, it would be tough to get a town together now to build a community garden, much less support the invasion of multiple countries because they could be involved with pissing us right off, and if we kill enough of their people like torturing a hostage, someone will sell out the person we want.
I will always be proud to be one in the sense of what the country was founded on. Being born in 1992 I can't really give much incite on my stance until the last ten years here because I wasn't too invested in its politics, faults and issues taking place or just didn't understand them.
Nowadays I just shake my head. It was really post 9/11 where everything went down hill and the ugly egg on our face in terms of culture, society and placement in the world ranged from questionable to what are we even doing? How is this happening? WHY is this happening?
I remember watching that bit with Yuri Bezmenov and that was really the hard slap I got when I watched it. Ideological subversion made it its way into our country like he said and accomplished dividing us more than ever and erasing what once made us a strong and idolized country to many across the world and replacing it with normalized weakness and shame. What makes it scary is that there is no undoing it which is why Yuri tried to warn us that eventually when it got to a certain point, it could not be reversed because it has now been reestablished as the norm. I think when that interview was done the country was was just about done with the demoralization phase and was entering the destabilization. The timeframe lined up with what he said, though.
I think "they," all the enemies of the US, *tried* Demoralization in the 80s and 90s, which is how you got Gen X'ers, but they didn't hate their country the way Zoomers do today. If I had to guess, I'd say this all started in 1995, with younger Millennials. Because by 2015, it was pretty clear that things were "Mission Accomplished." I was in college in 2015 and I remember the whiny student protests and university heads being scared sh*tless by bratty 18 year olds and all the other BS.
1995 would also explain why some Millennials, like me, aren't these Twitter pussies and others are. By the time school bullying was outlawed with Columbine happening in 1999, they would have just been entering grade school and would've gone their entire lives without bullying slapping them back down to reality.
That's why I think most of these woke morons had to have been born between 1995 and 2010, being a mix of Millennials and Zoomers. By the time Zoomers were old enough to understand things, they would've seen how stupid the woke crap and anti-American hate was.
Nvr been American… but I’m not proud of any place at the moment. I’m like missed the class on “wokeness” that my age group seems to be advocating for. But I’m glad I was out that day. 🎀
