E - the economy/cost of living will almost always be the biggest concern in an election, no matter what online echo chambers are screeching about. The only time this will ever (maybe) change is when people can be convinced of something being an immediate, existential threat. COVID prior to the vaccines being released arguably fit the bill. Major wars (or avoiding them) can fit the bill. Climate change does not for the vast majority.
The next biggest one is election integrity, for obvious reasons because technically if your elections are a sham then it doesn't really matter what someone claims to stand for or who anyone votes for if it's being manipulated behind closed doors. I haven't seen D'souza's documentary on the last election, but the pretty weak counter-arguments being published online leads me to believe he has a pretty strong collection of evidence, whether it would've affected the overall outcome or not. Between the liberals screeching about Russia in 2016 and suspicious activity in the 2016 primaries and general election 2020, there's really not a lot of confidence in the elections anymore and there's been very little effort to address that at all besides political stunts.
Border Security and Immigration would be third, but unfortunately this tends to be an issue that no side actually takes very seriously aside from exploiting it for useful talking points when they can. Obama took it a bit more seriously than Bush, and it was a major goal for Trump and his DHS, but even members of his own party torpedoed it. It's a much stronger issue at the state level, especially on the southern border where even Texas democratic mayors and representatives are being extremely critical of the Biden administration for a lack of action. Some may even switch parties over it, or at least go independent.

G. How divided we are. Right now it's the left pushing that envelope really hard. By and large we agree that we want to live happier lives, work, and have a pathway to consistently improve our lives.
Everything else is a symptom keeping that from happening, or a spur of the disagreement of how that path should be taken. There's no right or wrong way to be, or pursue happiness.
That shit is all manufactured to keep us separated and easier to manipulate. I'd say for now it'd be for the left to put down their rhetoric, and the right to put down grudges from it if the left is able to do that.
You'll have hardcore believers and extremists left from both sides, maybe 5-10% from each. Let them keep fighting online while other people work to get shit done. That's me though, and I see that as the biggest problem in our nation right now with the biggest chance of causing our collapse.
We've locked horns so hard that we notice, and don't really care that we're being pushed into a cycle of permanent bankruptcy. Our national deficit was already pretty staggering, add on top of that devaluing us currency internationally, and what happens when many of our debtors believe we as a country aren't worth the risk and want to be paid?
I've seen my own state collapse financially from over drawing, we only managed to push it off for a while by robbing peter to pay paul. Basically we'd get a loan for one project, and use the money from that loan as a guarantee to get another loan. It was a brilliant idea until our credit rating dropped.

I get that, what makes me upset is that we're stupid enough to go along with it. All the policies coming out right now aren't sustainable and are 100% meant to infuriate moderates, and please the commy types. They won't stick though. No matter what happens in mid-terms they'll get struck down and blamed on a "lack of bipartisanship" regardless if republicans hold a majority or not. Then it'll be the right's turn to be emboldened to do something that pisses off the left and makes us feel like top dog, back and forth.

The US is experiencing a surge of extremism far beyond anything I've seen in my lifetime. I think our largest issue right now is division.
80% of Americans all want the same thing. That other 20% are really, really, REALLY involved right now. We, as a people have become lazy in both our civic duties (laid out in the constitution) and our application of scrutiny to all forms of media.
A lot of people are only engaging online and believing that their opinions have any effect on the actual politics happening all around them. If people could just show up, apply reason and sanity and perform their civic duties, then the 80% would easily overwhelm the dissenters. The farce of candidates in the mid-terms this year is off the scales.
We're in trouble, no doubt. The 20% stand to rot democracy from within, and right now, it's honestly 50/50 to me whether or not we end up in a theocratic oligarchy. If you are of voting age, then you need to vote. I don't give a fart who you vote for, because I know 80% of anyone who votes will be adding to the balance in elections, but considering that the 20% are 100% voting vs. the 80% only showing up in the low 20% ..
I mentioned the constitution before, and if you take the time to read it, it pretty explicitly says that every citizen has civic responsibilities and goes on about what they are. Voting is one of them. Participating is also one.
Its unfortunately hard to compete with inflation causing so many families to have a hard time just putting food on the table. We see it every time we go to the grocery stores if its not empty shelves its higher and higher prices.
This is a major problem, particularly for people who need spesfic items, or are living pay check to pay check. May the lord help them find what they need.
That said, its going to be rather difficult to recover without democracy, so the smart issue is voting rights.

Yeah, costs and losing some buying power of the $ sucks; but the eroding of freedoms is so terrible…today it’s “you have freedom of speech if you don't say certain things (or you’ll be banned from platforms),” and tomorrow only certain “approved” people are legally allowed to speak (with other loss of freedoms to follow).
For the average person it's definitely cost of living and gas prices. My tank was $28 - 32 six months ago. Now it's just under $26 for half a tank
And my car has good prices compared to others. An extra $200 a month down just on gas makes a difference for the average consumer. And most people are probably spending more than that extra

@vald9inches I see cases for and against nuclear energy primarily from a war context. If you make major nuclear plants for power sources, that's a single attack point to take out all of the power for a massive section of the country
Other forms of power would be harder to shut down and less devastating if they were to get hit with a missile strike. I understand the security measures in place and flooding the ore and all that. But still.
If we go to war it wouldn't take as much Firepower as we think to set that off. Even though in everyday life it's safe to use

If you are talking about terrorism that can easily be stopped before they get anywhere near the facility and i highly doubt it can do enough damage to it anyway with all the reinforced concrete they are made of. If you are really worried about a single point of failure you can easily make mini or micro power plants to solve that issue and actually might be even cheaper than one giant one.

They have some of the best nuclear technology in the world and it was really scary for a time there all because of a natural event that happens all the time. Some concerns about nuclear are warranted
I mean common let's be honest here is was pretty retarded to put a nuclear power plant next to the ocean in a place that experiences a lot of tsunamis lol but if you think about it 2 or 3 disasters is a pretty good track record for the whole lifetime of nuclear energy vs all the tons of accidents from other forms of energy production and not to mention the millions of people that die every year because of air pollution alone from Fossil fuels type of energy production
@vald9inches pretty much the only Mass health concerns in any other form of energy is regarding oil. Whether it's oil spills, oil pipeline leaks, explosions in the oil field. I used to work out in Texas so there were new safety videos we had to watch literally every single week LOL. There would be a new fuck up that you didn't even know someone could do until they did it and then it was added to the list
The concerns with oil are much much lower on average. It's higher frequency though and it's almost exclusively related to people working in the oil field not people just living their life. It's only Wildlife concerns outside of that with oil leaks
A nuclear risk it's like... damn. We haven't had this risk in 50 years. Still gonna kill 2.5 million if it goes off tho.
Surprisingly only 1 person died from radiation during Fukushima failure. Way more people died from the evacuation than the radiation. Even in Chernobyl the most well known and poorly handled nuclear disaster only 50 people died because of radiation. So no not million will die lol. But it's a fact that pollution from Fossil fuels kills millions every year around the world

I guess really the only case is one based on fear not based on what actually happens. Like we have a picture of a nuclear bomb going off if this thing fails. Personally I don't see it that way, but I do think that if it became a military Target that it could be turned into a nuclear bomb essentially.

@jabberjaw Yea they do usually have it very far away but honestly i would feel perfectly safe living next to one. The odds of anything every happening are so extremely low we would sooner be struck by lighting twice lol also from what i understand even if terrorist were to capture a nuclear power plant the fuel they use cannot be turned into a bomb and the safety measures put in place will stop the plant itself from a meltdown which causes the fuel rods to melt like what happened in Chernobyl. But yea the Simpsons and other tv shows really painted a bad picture of nuclear energy even though it was done for comedic purposes.

@jabberjaw oh yea i know most crude oil and charcoal and natural gas dont come from dinosaurs but they did come from ancient lifeforms of all kinds from algae to trees and all types of marine life as well as land life. So basically its not totally incorrect to call it fossil fuels lol. After watching that video it is an interesting theory as to why it first got called a fossil fuel in order to keep prices up and make it seem scarce but i dont buy it because they honestly dont need to do that because they control the production of oil and have a monopoly over it. Even Biden recently asked for more oil production and they flat out said no we need to make our investors happy with extra profits. But that is not to say that fossil fuels are an infinite resource it most definitely is a limited resource and we will eventually run out having already picked all the low hanging fruit already.

He saying thats how they set a global price for oil and basically made it into a monopoly by fooling people in 1892. It makes more sense back then since people were not as educated about the subject as we are now.
@vald9inches yea. While it is finite now it will renew with time. It's just what timeframe? Personally I think future technology will allow us to take organic matter, convert it to oil then we'll turn it into a more renewable resource.
Oil comes from bacteria, Plankton, and algae mixing with sediment and that forms the oil over time. Someone who cares enough one day will make it a turn key process
To the point of Biden looking to increase oil production do that was just a farce. If he honestly wanted oil production he wouldn't hate cancelled the pipeline or put into effect cutting off offshore drilling.
He canceled multiple contracts for new leases on oil production. Any recent request he may have made is just lip service because he direct cause for most of what we're cut off from using.

As far as biden asking oil company to increase production being a farce it may or may not be but it doesn't change the fact that oil companies are refusing to ramp up current production in the name of profit.

@vald9inches wasn't making a case for any action regarding how oil is made. Just reinforcing the point that oil doesn't come from dinosaurs and that our idea that it's inevitable that it'll all get used up isn't necessarily inevitable.
Regarding the climate we still don't know to what degree our use of oil equates to change in climate. Just that there is a change. A single volcanic eruption has the biggest carbon footprint of any other event on the planet and we have them every year.
So the climate is going up with or without us. Until we can determine how much an effect we have and how much is necessarily too much. We can't reasonably determine whether or not we should hold back.
We should definitely invest in other means of energy production for a variety of reasons. Solar is better for everyone with respect to home power use for example and it gives more incentive for families to get electric cars if they have more access to solar technology for their homes. (I think home power use and electric car technology are connected as far as affordability to the average home)
But there's not a strong case to hold back on oil that is 100% fact based. We have a base concept of what's happening and drawing conclusions that aren't necessarily accurate.

I think one of the most disturbing things today is the utter incompetence of our elected officials. They all seem more concerned about fealty to their tribe and ideology than to doing things that actually make sense. Outright stupidity is alarmingly common, and ignoring reality when their ideas aren't working out.
It reminds me of years ago when I was driving over a arched bridge. Coming down the other side there were two birds fighting each other, their claws clutching and beaks pecking each other. As I passed over them they tried to alight and I heard a couple thunks and looked back to see two broken bodies in the road. Whatever their petty differences were, they had ignored the outside world and immersed themselves in their struggle, and now everything they had was gone.

@vald9inches I would like to jump in here and hopefully help end this debate between you two. I think right now, every system imagined has been tried and has all failed. What makes them fail, is the real question. Man and man's greed is what makes them fail. Every system fails due to this outside interference with how that system is supposed to work. So far, all are corruptible and none have worked. So being in favor of one over another is based mostly on pure personal preference and personal opinion.
There is good news though... sort of. There is one system that has been thought up, and nobody has actually used. It is called a resource based economy. This system does away with any form of money whatsoever. All monetary systems cease to exist. In a resource based economy, everyone works to better each other, not just themselves and is only limited to the available resources. This system is also believed to push forward technology in a way that has never been seen before and is also believed to produce a clean, sustainable free energy system within the next 20 years. It is also believed that if we move to a recourse based economy, 95% of crime would end, murders, theft, drugs, everything. The only crimes that would remain are crimes due to mental illness (with such a system, the resources would then be available to truly cure 'from birth' any mental illness within 30 years) and crimes of passion, such as jealousy.
Man's dream is to reach the stars. A resource based economy is the only way to do this. Man will never achieve such strides in technology without a free living resource based economy. For reference, look up The Venus Project.
So until we reach such a society, we will forever be subject to the greed of man, no matter what economy system we live under.

It seems like a red herring to talk about anything without first figuring out how to make the republicans become a serious party again. They tried to end the country and have faced no consequences. You can say Manchin kept walking away from negotiations (and he did, "the squad" already made it clear they'll take whatever he'll agree to give, but he wouldn't take yes for an answer), but ultimately any one Republican senator could have stepped up to pass it and instead openly admitted to being "100% focused" on stopping that very thing from happening. "100% focused on stopping the Biden agenda" of securing the border by slow walking Biden's border security nominations (some are still in committee!) and voting against every immigration reform bill for the last 20 years. "100% focused on stopping the Biden agenda" of reining in inflation by not attending committed hearings thus denying quantum, slow walking FTC nominations, voting against and filibustering the bill that just passed yesterday to stop gas companies from price gouging.. everything they complain about they vote against solutions for, if they can't block them, and then if they pass anyway they rush back to their districts to take credit for them.
And none of this is speculation. It's all on the record. What is technically speculation but also pretty reliable is that republicans are due to be rewarded for this behavior in the mid terms. Not one of their voters is going to punish republicans for any of this - be it because they aren't aware of it (because far right entities like Sinclair own all the media in rural areas) or because they think it's hilarious to trigger the libs (let's go brandon or whatever), and not to mention all the Gerrymandering - come November republicans will likely pick up seats thereby sending a clear message that their voters want more of what republicans are doing. They prefer sabotage and hearing entertaining/triggering lies about who is to blame over not causing or fixing the problem. This is what right wing media has made them into. The housing market. It is linked with SO MANY problems effecting everyday Americans. Think of the stress and anxiety that would go away if you were actually able to afford decent housing? Cost of living wouldn't be nearly as stressful because rent is finally at a manageable level. This has been analyzed time and time again and people keep overlooking it.

Political polarisation of society.

I'm trying to remember how to get around the inheritance. You have to put the property into an escrow, and have the people you want to inherit in the escrow as well, then when you die, it is released from escrow to your inheritors. Since it was only held onto by a third party the whole time, and was not actually sold, or inherited, the tax paid would just have to be off whatever new income they make from those assets moving forwards.
At least that's the way I understand it, though it's likely a little more complicated.
