Does the Johnny Depp / Amber Heard case signal a shift in society’s views on gender issues?

The court of public opinion has always favored women in cases of alleged domestic abuse. But in this particular case the male is clearly viewed by most as the victim and the female as the perpetrator, something we have never seen before.

Unsurprisingly, the mainstream media’s only interest in all of it appears to be that women may be less likely to come forward with accusations against men in the future. Not a word about male victims of female abuse feeling more comfortable seeking help despite the fact that studies show men are often the victims of domestic abuse at the hands of women but most don't feel comfortable doing anything about it.

Are we as a society finally beginning to turn the corner from our overwhelmingly gynocentric views of gender issues?

Yes. We've a whole system educating men not to abuse women through its various forms in the media, schools, universities, colleges etc and how to recognise the signs and debates and legislation to protect women but there is nothing out there telling women not to abuse men and the law and media basically assumes women can only be victims and men prepatrators. Even the media is still treating Amber Heard like the victim, if she was a man she'd have been cancelled by now and probably punished by the law.
I used to date women and let me just say, women in a relationship can be just as abusive as any men. My ex girlfriend was very abusive but because she was a woman the law treated her with kid gloves compared to men and she told a lot of lies making me out to be just as abusive, the law basically ignored her and treated her violence like a "girl fight", she had priors with an ex girlfriend and exactl every thing shee told me about her was true of her and she was treated like the victimrather than the perpetrator. A few other women I dated were abusive, controlling and manipulative. Domestic abuse is higher among lesbian relationships than heterosexual relationships but this is largely ignored for PC reasons and the fear of showing lgbtq in a bad light rather than address the problem which again comes back to the sexist attitude that women can only be victims.
Maybe the Johnny Depp will get people to start thinking.

I think the whole thing is a ridiculous shit show. No one would be putting this everywhere if they weren't celebs anyways.

The shift is a good thing, but they're casting it in a terrible light using these two clowns as an example moving forward.
