Tucker Carlson Throws Prime-Time Tantrum During Jan. 6 Committee Hearing

Tucker Carlson opened his Fox News show on Thursday evening by making it clear that neither he nor Fox News — unlike every other major news channel — would be broadcasting the prime-time, historic House select committee hearing on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U. S. Capitol.
The hearing, Carlson intoned, was “deranged” and “insulting,” and he simply refused to “play along.”

“This is the only hour on an American news channel that will not be carrying their propaganda live,” Carlson said, comparing the hearing to the stuff you might see in “totalitarian regimes.”
“They are lying, and we will not let them do it.”
And so, as the House committee broadcast previously unseen footage of the shocking violence by a mob of Donald Trump supporters on Jan. 6 for all the country to see, Carlson instead broadcast panned-out shots of members of Congress watching the footage.

He and his producers plastered hysterical chyrons across the screen for their millions of viewers to see: “JAN 6 CMTE FUELS FALSE NARRATIVES AS SHAM INVESTIGATION DRAGS ON.” “LEADERS WILL SPEND 90 MINUTES GIVING MORAL LECTURE.” “OUR LEADERS ARE FOCUSING ON JAN. 6 WHILE IGNORING THE REAL THREATS.”

“Fox News isn’t just letting Tucker Carlson do his regular show, they’re airing it without commercials,” Gertz added. “They want to push his propaganda so much that they are leaving money on the table to do it.”

At one point in his show, Carlson, while arguing that what happened on Jan. 6 was not an insurrection, seemed to threaten another insurrection.

If anyone was still taking FoxNews seriously before last night, I hope this was the move that demonstrated how untrustworthy and deliberately biased they are, and not just biased to their audience, which would be one thing, but it’s a whole other thing to do it for the politicians they’re in bed with. Whatever happened to “if you did nothing wrong, then you should have nothing to hide and no problem testifying?” I’d think anyone allegedly nefariously involved would relish the opportunity to defend themselves against this stuff. And holy shit, if the Democrats were the ones who would be made to look bad, we’d hear the exact opposite from the right, they’d be cartwheeling over something like this. If Don Lemon or Rachel Maddow had been texting Biden in a moment like that, they’d be going CRAZY. “Why does some talking head from the media have even an indirect line of communication with the president? These aren’t politicians or government officials!” This is just one of the most obvious “if the shoe was on the other foot” situations I could imagine. “If you don’t like the facts, deny them, and discredit those bringing them to light.” Right out of the playbook, lmao. Wasn’t there a police station that got overtaken somewhere during the fallout after George Floyd’s death? If those people were under investigation, FoxNews would cover the shit out of it. But their own HOSTS are implicated in this, this SUCH a bad look for them and just conservative media in general, and secondarily for those who actively consume it, because they’re sitting in the dark thinking that they’re in the right, because that what there on brain wants to believe. “It’s easier to lie to someone than it is to convince someone that they’ve been lied to” on full display.
